Hi @PeaceWillWin-FearWillLose! Would you mind telling me some random facts about Australia in general? A portion of the story I’m writing takes place there, and I just want to make sure I’m doing it right. :D

  1. Despite common belief, we don't all have kangaroos. They're normally found on the outskirts of small towns.
  2. Many people think that American accents are weird.
  3. Freshwater penguins exist.
  4. Drop bears are real
  5. We don't ride kangaroos like horses
  6. Not every animal will kill you. Common sense is vital, though.
  7. Not everyone has the "typical Australian accent". Some have less strong accents.
  8. Most of us only say "mate" and "g'day" ironically, or to make fun of non-Australians mimicking out accent
  9. Vegemite must be eaten with butter on toast. Don't eat it with a spoon.
  10. There are cold places in Australia
  11. Not all of us drink beer, like sport and watch the footy.
  12. High school boys love footy. If one of them says "footy" everyone else will respond with "FOOTY!"
  13. In primary school, we had to sing our national anthem in every assembly.
  14. We have to wear school uniforms - Catholic/Christian schools often wear kilts (girls uniform)
  15. May of us sound vaguely British (like me)
  16. We don't like the way Americans say "Australia" (oust-rayliah). Lots of us just say 'Straya.
  17. Home and Away isn't an accurate depiction of Austraila.
