Also, how do you make characters private?
Maybe it's just me being an idiot but I don't see a way any more.

When viewing or editing your universe, look for the circular buttons on it (where the purple Edit button always is). The left-most one is for sharing, and clicking on it brings up a dialog that lets you toggle between private (the default setting on everything), or public (which lets people view your pages when you give them their URL).

On big screens, it might be easy to miss the toggle switch on the far-right side.
