forum When to introduce main conflict? Help I'm conflicted.

I'm beginning to write the beginning of my book and I'm wondering If I should bring up the main problem right away or if I should bring it up more casually. My stories main problem is a type of sickness thing not a person.

I would wait a little. Try reading The Two Princesses of Bamarre for inspiration if you feel up to it as it has the same idea.

I have to agree with Dom here. The whole, "introduce your disaster before the story"thing is kinda cliche

Perhaps the disease could be a major plot twist a bit later?
