I’ve got these two characters in my medieval fantasy story: Lace & Valiant. Valiant is controlling (but means well, I swear), and Lace wants more control over her life.
Basically, they’re given magic items that compliment each other. Lace gets a crown that gives her control over minds, Valiant gets a crown that lets him read minds.
Is this a dumb idea? Any ideas or critiques for me are appreciated!

No Ideas are dumb, only under developed. As long as it feels natural and not like a huge coincidence it should work out.
