Okay so

Things are getting worse and worse for humans. Scientists came up with drugs and medication that can change you into anything you can think of. Not a good idea. Humans are slowly being replaced with "better" versions. The climate is also deteriorating.
One of our characters finds a "rip" In the fabric of our universe that leads them into another universe, thus confirming the multiverse theory. They can get out of the hellhole that is earth. Only things aren't quite as perfect as imagined in other places.
