After a slow societal breakdown caused by a mind altering disease, humanity has splintered. The disease is now quite rare, given the lack of humans, but electricity and safety are things of the past. Many of the remaining survivors have chosen to walk alone and fend for themselves.

Information on the disease;
Seeing as it was spread through skin to skin contact, the disease was quite easy to contract in the beginning. Once infected, said person would begin to exhibit an extreme and irrational fear of most foods. This caused many cases of cannibalism, being what most of the infected people turned to. The ends of the fingers would also harden and turn black, sometimes dark purple; dust would also come from the tips of the fingers. It is believed that the reason the disease was spread by skin to skin contact was because of this dust.
May I also?

Name: Alec Chaucer
Age: 20
Gender/Sex: Male
Appearance: Alec has messy side parted blonde hair and muddy green eyes. His skin is generally pale, but sometimes becomes slightly tan (which usually doesn't last for very long). He stands at 5'5" and weighs 130 Lbs (59 Kilos).
General Attire: Before the apocalypse, Alec could usually be seen wearing colored jeans and solid colored t-shirts. He now wears what he had on the day everything ultimately fell apart, which is a pair of black jeans a dark red shirt and a pair of old dark red vans. He now carries around a blue backpack that he found a few weeks after he was on his own.
Personality: Alec is now quite a bit more weary of things than he used to be (and for good reason). Before the disease spread, he was a very friendly person; though he was quite sarcastic and still is. His distrust of strangers has always been with him.
View on the Apocalypse: Alec has gotten used to the way things are now, and generally doesn't mind. At first, however, he was devastated to find that everything was gone.
History (optional): Will be revealed throughout the Rp.
Family (optional): Mother, Abigail Chaucer (deceased); father, Victor Chaucer (deceased); Siblings (none)
El bump~
I'm kind of thinking about just going ahead and starting this… I don't think anyone else is going to join anytime soon. ))
Sounds like a good idea.//
Okay, I'll have the starter up in a few minutes.))
Swinging his legs back and forth, Alec looked through the glass wall of an empty shop. Everywhere was empty like this, there was hardly any food left from where he had been digging around in the same neighborhood for a few weeks now. But with the way he looked at it, it was better to stay in one place and pick it clean before moving on. After all, if he skipped around then soon there wouldn't be much of anything left anywhere. Plus, it wasn't like there were many people left. Going out and looking for a group would be a complete waste of time.
Alec jumped up and walked to the back of the shop over a floor covered in bits of glass and splintered wood. Soon he was in the back of the small building, where there were cans of coffee as well as the equipment needed to make pourover coffee. All of it was still clean, and there were even a few bottles of water left.
Enyln sat in a tree, watching the world not to far below. She had decided it was far to nice of a day to go around scavenging when she could rest. Pluse it was not like anyone would see her unless they where really looking, and the only way to get to her was by going up said tree. Or if they had a gun they could just shoot her, but Enyln highly doubted someone would be that stupid and jumpy. She hummed an old song that used to play on the radio everyday, the wind carrying it.
Staring into the room for a few moments more, Alec finally decided to try his hand at making coffee. He still had the remnants of an old fire, of which embers were still flickering in. Padding into the room, Alec scooped up a couple bottles of water, some ground coffee beans, a metal drip kettle, and a cone shaped container with a space at the bottom for a cup. Glancing around, he saw coffee filters and scooped them up along with the rest of the items. He walked back out and dropped everything on the counter. Near the fire he had a pot, which he decided was where he would boil the water.
Around ten minutes later, Alec had finally set everything up. For a few minutes, he had been hearing a very dull whistling. That can't be coming from a person. He thought, shaking his head. There isn't anyone else near here.
Enyln continued to shift between humming and whistling for a while longer before stopping. She sighed deeply, the silence returning. Enyln reluctantly dropped from her tree and walked along the rode, careful of any glass or anything that'd make to much noise.
Soon, Alec had heated the water and was pouring it over the ground coffee. Before all of this had happened he had watched a few cooking shows with his parents where people had made coffee this way. It wasn't exactly the easiest way, but then again nothing was easy anymore. Finally sitting down the metal pourover kettle, Alec crouched a bit and watched as the remaining bit of water passed through the coffee beans and came out into the cup below as darkly colored coffee. He hadn't ever much liked black coffee, but it seemed like one of the best things ever. Especially since he had been eating nothing but boiled pasta and random canned foods for the past couple of months.
He picked up the cup and sat back down in the floor in a spot that was rid of glass. The coffee wasn't really all that hot, since the water had a chance to cool down in between being carried over to the counter and being poured over the coffee beans.
Enyln had walked down the street till she came infrount of a store where a faint smell of coffee came from. call out? Keep going? she weighed her options and decided it'd be best to watch whoever this was first. She crept through the window doing her best to avoid glass.
Sitting facing the back of the building, Alec had yet to notice that Enyln had slipped through the window. Swirling what remained in the cup, Alec continued to stare at it with a blank expression. Thinking of everything that he had before the disease had hit, he was deaf to everything around him. Snapping back to reality, he finished what was in the cup and set it down, still having yet to turn around.
"Coffee, good choice." Enyln leaned on a wall not far from Alec, but still far enough away that she'd get a good head start on running. "I'm guessing you're hard of hearing? That or deaf." She srugged, her eyes never leaving Alec.
Alec's eyes widened as he heard a voice off to his side. Whipping around, he dropped the cup on the ground, watching it as it hit the floor. Thankfully it didn't break. He narrowed his eyes at the stranger, this was the first time he had seen anyone for quite a while. And at that, someone alive. "I'm not deaf or hard of hearing… I just wasn't paying attention." Alec said, his voice surprisingly free of anger.
