(Just a roll call… Who's still here???)
(Well me, duh.)
(Lloyd coughs awkwardly as his suspicious question is ignored)
"Yeah, I'd never have that on my bucket list. What even is a bucket list? Is that something you silly humans like to make?"
Darren laughs awkwardly, assuming it was joke before looking around and seeing no one else was laughing.
"Lloyd, are you insinuating that your inhuman or something?"
"Like a witch?" Lillian looked at him.
"What?" It took Lloyd a few moments to realize what he had actually said. "N-No! Of course not! I was just… joking… that's what friends do, right?"
"As sweet as that would be…"
"Right…" Darren looked at his shoes to escape the awkward silence.
Lillian snapped her fingers, "Dang. We could do some Shakespeare if you were a witch."
Darren laughed louder than he should have. Suddenly he felt the weight leave his feet and wind blow through his hair before the sudden feeling of crashing into a rock hit him and he hit the ground. When he looked up he saw Alek and some of the other jock guys hovering above him. "Going to musical practice with your new pet nerds?" The guys laughed
Darren sat against the locker with a hand held over his forehead, he was defenseless now and everyone could see it.
Lillian growled at them, "What the heck is your problem!?"
Alek turned quickly, "We really doing this again…"
"No," Lillian said, "Because instead of Paige you're dealing with me."
"He had this coming, he turned on his friends to join your homo-explosion group!" Alek spit on Darren still sitting on the ground and walked away with the other guys trailing behind him laughing loudly.
Darren sat in a daze against the lockers still pressing a hand to his forehead.
Lillian bit her thumb, she spat, "Jerks."
She walked over to Darren and offered him a hand, "Are you okay?"
Darren's reaction was delayed, like he had to think about how to take her hand, how to stand up at all. Finally he took her hand and she helped him up. Not once did his remove his other hand from his forehead.
"We're going to the nurse," Lillian told him. She pulled his arm around her shoulders, "We're moving now."
Rowena poked her head out, fixing her glasses. "What the fuck-"
"It's okay, I-I-I'm okay>" Darren struggled to get the words out and he looked like he could pass out any moment as blood started to escape from the hand help to he forehead
She stepped out. "You," She said to Alek, glaring. "Try anything like that again, and I will hex you into oblivion." She wouldn't really, but hey, threats sometimes work a little.
"Out of way Rowanda!" Alek pushed Rowena out of his path.
She bit back a growl. Okay, maybe a little warning spell. She shoved him back, not really thinking. Then she relized.
"Did you just- push me…" Alek glared "Thought I felt a fly run into me."
Lillian began walking towards the nurses, "No your not, you got hit with a rock in the head. Your reactions are probably a sign of a concussion. How do I know this? Last year some kid got hit with a sandbag in the middle of the Scottish play dress rehearsal. Ended up with one."
"You wouldn't feel that, idiot."
Lloyd watched the scene unfold with his eyes wide, unsure what to do. It had all happened so fast, and now Darren was on the ground and the other guys walking away. Where did they even come from?
Darren nodded in surrender and lean up against her trying not to weigh her down until they got to the nurses' office.
