Hey, howdy, hi! I just recently joined this website and am just now exploring the Role Play section. I am new to this whole "Role Play" community, haha, so if I make any mistakes or say something wrong, please let me know. Anyway, I guess I should get started on the role play intro to kind of get you settled into what the setting is, what the general plot is, and a few of the NPC characters that I'll have to manage myself, haha. Alright, here's the intro!

"Here I come, come to you, in the very clothes that I kill, killed you in, and now I know I'm alone."

You drowned. You were playing in the ocean on an innocent vacation at the beach, or you were out fishing with your father, but something happened. Something…grabbed you. It pulled you down, deeper, to the drop where you can't see the bottom of the ocean. It's pitch black, and the pressure on your body gets heavier and heavier. You're starting to run out of air. Your body can't take the pressure, it's about to cave in on itself when…

You wake up. You're still under water, but you're somehow at the very bottom of the ocean. It's dark, you're scared, confused, and cold. Then you hear a few voices.

"Do you know where you are? You are dead. You're in the deepest pits of hell, to the point where there's no more fire. Just cold, dark, sharp icy water. There's no esc-"
"Raz, will you stop scaring the newbie? The poor thing is so confused. "

A gentle hand rests on your shoulder, a light following as you see a face. It's that of a male, a soft man's face, with a friendly smile, and innocent eyes. Following behind him is another male, with sharp proportions, slicked back silvery hair, and thin eyes, almost like a snake, except they both had gills. You had many questions, to say the least.

"I'm sorry about Raz, he's always been a troublemaker, I wouldn't trust him. My name is Brent. Raz's and my job is to introduce you to Araxie. Call it what you will, the underwater world, non-mermaids, Atlantis, whatever. But this is your new home. Governed by the one and only Meredith, protector of the Sea, lover of all. She'd love to meet you, I'll take you to her."

Brent wraps one arm around you and leads you into a more messy, but somehow organized area, the shape of what might be houses and other buildings beginning to come into view. Brent leads you this way and that, telling you about everything in the town.

"That right there is my favorite place for drinks. Cornelia's Liquor. Man, you should try it sometime. You're over 19, right? Anyway, this way to the castle."

To wrap things up, you meet the queen. She's beautiful, she's kind, you two click with each other almost immediately, she's just that kind of person. She helps you to your new dwelling area. A beautiful house with a calming aesthetic. She tells you that you are always welcome to join her in her castle. At one point, when you two are alone, she tells you about what's going on behind the curtain.

"Someone doesn't agree with my decisions as a queen. They've started a rebellion against us, and I don't want any lives to be lost, but they seem like they are a bit violent. I can feel the potential in you, I know you can help me."

You start to consider it until she adds,

"Also, this isn't a one person job. You'll need a partner. Maybe a whole team. I've already found one for you."

She leads you through the town once again, receiving many respectful bows and greetings from the civilians. She brings you to the doorstep of an interesting looking house, knocks on the door, and the person on the other side opens it, revealing to you this quite peculiar character.

Wow! That's the end of the intro. Bit much, I guess, but I've had this idea for ages and have wanted to use it so here! Okay, so I have a set form for you to create your character before we start role playing, I sure hope this site allows you to copy and paste other people's posts, haha, okay, here's the form:

Alright, now the rules!
-Follow the general rules of posting that this website has already given
-No Mary Sues
-You cannot control another character or take another character's life
-Each post must be at least 4 sentences long. (This excludes dialogue)
-You do not have a convenient death ray in your back pocket. It's okay if your character can not fix something.
-Please do not start role playing until you have posted your form filled out with your character.
-Please wait until I start the initial post to start role playing.
-PLEASE wait your turn before you post again! Everyone must have a chance to contribute before you continue. Let there be a pattern to form, and remember who posts before you.

That's all! I'm going to post my own character as a separate post. This one has enough, haha.

Name: Manuel (Mani)
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Personality: Mani is quiet and often keeps to himself but is very kind and trustworthy, He hides his emotions very well. He likes to keep from talking about himself and instead focuses on learning more about others. He is fine with being around people but needs alone time sometimes and is very good at sneaking away from a crowd to get it. He hates seeing people upset or in pain but sucks it up to help people.
Short bio: He brought his little brother to his favourite hidden dock on the beach, he wanted to teach his 10 year brother how to swim since he had never learnt. The lesson was going well in the shallow water and they decide to take a break on the dock which jutted out to pretty deep water. His brother tripped and fell into the water so Mani dove in and helped his brother up but got dragged away before he could get himself up.
Appearance: He has wavy black hair that's messy on top and a bit shorter on the bottom and the top kind of flops on his face, He has very pale skin and is 6'.
Skills: Sneaky, Quiet on his feet, He is good with throwing knives, fast, Can climb well
Weaknesses: Very clumsy, Distracted easily, Bad at opening up to people, He doesn't have much experience with hand to hand combat, Not a leader type of person

Name: Myst Blaire
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Personality: Myst is a leader and enjoys being in control of the situation. While she can be critical of others and occasionally a little too bossy, she is a strong willed girl with a heart of gold. Myst is not afraid to let you know her opinion and will fight for her beliefs with no hesitation.
Short bio: Myst was taking a bit of a vacation. She was stressed, overworking herself, and was about to snap mentally when her friend suggested she go to the beach. Myst rented a sail boat, ran into the water, and finally relaxed. She was breathing peacefully with a clear mind when she leaned over to look at the water, and something grabbed her. She doesn't remember much of her life before she joined Araxie, but she does remember her final moments on the surface.
Appearance: Myst Blaire has a heart shaped face with bright brown eyes, and long black hair. She normally wears crop tops and shorts, but on occasion she'll wear tight sweaters tucked into yoga pants.

Skills: Myst took a few years of fencing for fun, but it grew into other lessons for sword fighting. She also knows a little bit of hand-to-hand combat because of the self-defense lessons she took, but not nearly as much as she knows sword fighting.
Weaknesses: Myst is sensitive, but hides it well. Myst is also quite jumpy. Little noises startle her easily and she tends to squeal out of fear of small things.
Other: Myst has a large wing tattoo on her back.

Name: Celine
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Personality: An open book, Celine keeps other's secrets better than her own. Incredibly stubborn as well. She is very impulsive and often stutters. Hard to love, but once you get to know her, Celine can become your best friend.
Short bio: "I was sailing a little too far from shore, and the waves decided to give me a hard time. The sailboat sinks as I attempt to swim back to the beach, however it occurred to me that I had left my special necklace back on the boat. As I am diving under, I notice a glimmer of what looked like a city. The thirst for a possible adventure overturned any other decision, and with that I swam to my new life."
Appearance: Long light blue hair with purple tints, bright blue eyes. slightly muscular, 5'7", normally wearing a pink baggy t-shirt and jean shorts, necklace with teardrop shaped gem pendant
Skills: Celine is a pro at archery, and parkour. She knows how to steer any kind of boat
Weaknesses: Celine has a habit of trusting people too easily and being prone to manipulation. She has a short attention span and although has great aim for archery, she has vision problems and misses occasionally
Other: Likes to drink on Wednesdays only

OH yeah, that's another rule: Please do not post again until everyone else has posted. In other words, don't get ahead of anyone. I'll post the initial in a separate post.
And yes, even though we have started, you may still jump in, but please try to write it off as your character naturally joining mid-adventure if that's where we are. You were not here the whole time.

Time to start!

I open the door to see Queen Meredith standing with two confused visitors at either side of her. Just to tease them, I lean on one foot and give Meredith a scolding eye.
"Madame, not again! You know what happened to the last two you tried to recruit." Meredith chuckles and waves me off, leading the two into my house. I look them up and down with a smile and greet them.
"Hi, my name is Myst. Don't believe anything Meredith tells you about me. I'm actually wonderful person."
"Myst," Meredith interjects, with a tinge of 'Please Stop, This is Serious' in her voice. "How far have you gotten on the case?" Testing my limits, I fold my arms at the queen.
"Excuse me, I still haven't offered them drinks yet." I turn to the two and smile my satire smile. "Alright, you two, are you old enough to drink? I can make a killer martini."
"Myst." Meredith snaps at me and I pretend to look ashamed as I quiet down.
"This is Manuel," Meredith points to the man with long black hair. "And this is Celine." Meredith points to the girl with long blue hair. I stand up straight and formal and nod my head at them.
"Nice to meet you Manuel and Celine." I begin. "I'm am the leader for the case of the terrorists."
Meredith interrupts me.
"They are not terrorists, they have not committed any mass crimes yet."
"Yet."
"Myst, please behave."
I sigh heavily and continue.
"I'm not too skilled at the field work alone, so I asked the queen to recruit some people that might be able to help me. That's basically it, I guess. You two game?"
I look over at them and eagerly await their response.

Name: Sage
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Personality: He's a really family oriented guy that loves to flirt with both guys and girls. He likes to pretend that he has confidence, but he's actually really insecure. He doesn't like opening up to people, his friends kind of have to force him to. Which is fine, because if nobody forced him to open up to people, all of his self doubt, anger, insecurities, and other things would just build up and bad things would happen.
Short Bio: He was trying to impress a guy that he was crushing on with his surfing skills. He wiped out on purpose just to be a dork. While trying to swim up, something grabbed his leg and pulled him down, and he was never seen again.
Appearance: Olive toned skin, thin lips, freckles on the bridge of his nose, hazel brown-green eyes, long undercut hairstyle, somewhat slim and not very muscular, lots of tattoos.
Skills: He has a purple belt in jiu-jitsu and can use a gun
Weaknesses: He doesn't have a lot of muscle, he struggles with depression and is very good at hiding it, idealizes people, has very intense emotional reactions, struggles to figure out who he is and has huge mood swings, these are all symptoms of BPD (borderline personality disorder) I explained it so you wouldn't have to look it up lol.
Other: He was sexually abused by his uncle as a child, so the topic of sexual abusive is very triggering for him

Ah! I had to go but I'm here now?

Sage sat in a corner silently, his arms crossed. He scanned the people around him, then looked down again. He felt traumatized. Sage had just been turned very recently, and he wasn't sure how to cope with it.

Mani watches silently having been here a bit longer still greives on his own

I cannot contain my excitement. Never in my life had I ever thought that I could be able to work with the queen herself. But, glancing at the black-haired boy, I didn't know how I would work with him. I usually go solo for anything I do, but perhaps having a partner will benefit me. Hopefully.
"I-I'm game," I inhale deeply, mentally face-palming at my stutter. Suspense creeps up my back as I wait for Manuel's answer.

"Alright then" I answer after the awkward sounding guy responds. I'm not really a team worker kind of guy but I don't mind working with people I'm just horrible at communication is all. (Ah right thanks for the reminder)

I smirk with a tinge of mischief.
"Nice." She mutters at Celine. She turns to the other two; Sage, who just walked in right before I explained everything, having Meredith explain that Sage was another recruit, who was invited to join us today, and Manuel.
"What about you two? You interested in helping Celine and I save the kingdom?"
I put my hands on my hips in a sort of ready-to-lead pose. A four person team sounds like the right amount. I mentally nod at my accomplishment as I prepare myself for what's to come. A quick glance at Meredith shows me that she's nervous. I guess I can understand that, the fate of her entire kingdom is in danger, and she's doing the best she can. I can respect that, especially knowing how wonderful of a queen she's been so far. I definitely trust her to raise this kingdom in the right path.
I turn back to the other two new recruits and await their response.

Sage shrugged, not wanting to look at anybody anymore. "I mean, I guess so. What else do I have to do?" he responded. His mind wandered to the boy on the beach, Aiden. He had been the last person that Sage had seen. He wondered if Aiden was scared, or upset, by Sage's disappearance.

"Sure" Mani responds studying the people around him and trying to figure out things about them by their body language and facial expressions. Sage seemed to be very idle at the moment and Myst seems like a leader type of person from what he can tell so far.

@RedEeveestar (Haha, thank you! And it's not too late, but you'll have to fill out the character form and try to write yourself in naturally as if you joined later on, since we never mentioned anything about you earlier, so if you're up for that challenge, then you may join!)

(Alright.Thank you. I'll probably just have my character be unconscious longer because… bomb.)
Name: Charles Lee Brooks
Age: 22
Gender: Trans-male
Appearance: Fairly tall at 5'11" and weighs a hefty 210 lbs of sheer muscle. Military-cut brown hair and, ironically, sea-green eyes. Has a scar that goes through his right eyebrow and has a tattoo of his unit, rank, and regiment on the back of his left shoulder blade.
Personality: He appears to be calm and confident in himself and his abilities, and tries his best to offer good advice help, and support, but is actually a huge ball of anxiety and internal screaming. He tries his best to have patience and be friendly with others, so it takes a lot to make him slip up. He is very protective of his friends' wellbeing and becomes an almost unstoppable force of nature when his friends are injured, scared, and/or in danger.
Short bio: Charles was a Lieutenant serving aboard a naval vessel. Everyone was ordered to evacuate on smaller boats as an enemy had infiltrated the ship and planted a bomb somewhere, however it was too late as the bomb went off at that moment. Charles was thrown off the boat by the force of the blast and sank to the bottom. After all his tours around the oceans, a simple bomb had managed to get the best of him.
Skills: Advanced survival training, trained in close-combat, trained to use most any gun class and gun-shield/knife combo, can navigate the sea using the stars and sun.
Weaknesses: Has been officially diagnosed with PTSD and anxiety. He has a recurring injury in his left knee which he tried to hide by strengthening the muscles around it, but it can cause him pain from time to time.
Other: He's super self-aware and he tries to improve himself in some way every day.

I squint at the unenthusiastic responses from the two. I decide to ignore it, and turn my attention to the queen and Myst.
"So, what is our first step in all this? I'm so ready to get started right n-now! Ooh, do we get rooms in the castle?" I have so many questions running through my head, it was a struggle to keep myself from blurting them all out. My eyes are filled with excitement, and my veins are filled with adrenaline.
