Arria nodded and took Carter’s hand in his, “Yup, let’s get going, back to the cave first?” He asked, swimming with him out the house.
Arria nodded and took Carter’s hand in his, “Yup, let’s get going, back to the cave first?” He asked, swimming with him out the house.
Carter smiled, “Yep, and then we’ll be on our way,” Carter swam with Arria back to their home, still grateful that the prince was gone for good out of their lives. He breached the surface once they got into the cave, hoisting himself out of the water so he could get to his clothing back and pick out stuff for him and Arria.
"Is shopping hard?" Arria asked, resting his arms on the rock as he looked up at Carter with a smile on his face. Excitement ran through him at the thought of going to a real human movie.
“Not at all, unless you don’t have money, why do you ask?” Carter pulled out two simple shirts and black shorts, scooting back over to the water’s edge and hoping his potion would run out soon so he could just gain legs and walk out without getting wet.
Arria shrugged a shoulder, “Just curious.” He replied, smiling up at Carter from the water, “But surely there’s too many options… is it hard to pick?” Curiousity was going to kill him one day, he was sure of it.
Carter laughed, eyes twinkling with amusement, “Not really, some things just catch your eyes, you know? I’ll tell you what,” Carter leaned down a kissed Arria’s forehead, “We’ll go shopping if we have extra time, alright? I think I brought money in my bag just in case…” Carter trailed off, grabbing his bag again and searching through it until he found a substantial wad of cash.
Arria nodded, “Alright then. That sounds like fun. Do you like shopping?” He asked, resting his arms on Carter’s tail and cocking his head to the side a little as he eyes the money for a moment with a frown before returning his gaze to Carter.
“Depends, sometimes it can get boring if your trying on clothes for a long time, but for the most part it’s pretty fun. I’d imagine it’s be even finer with an adorable sea boy modeling clothes with you,” Carter told him with a fond smile, happy as he could be.
Arria giggled a little and rolled his eyes, nudging Carter playfully, “You’re such a flirt, Carter.” He said, smiling up at him. He couldn’t help the light blush that crept to his cheeks and the happy butterflies that filled him.
Carter smiled even more, but just before he was going to lean over and give Arria another kiss and show him just how much flirtier Carter could get, a small pain split down his tail. Before he knew it, he had legs again and was scrambling to put his shorts on.
Arria laughed loudly and swam backwards, his laughs turning into stifled giggles as he put his hand over his mouth. His eyes did a quick scan of Carter an she grinned behind his hand.
Carter blushed, shaking his head at Arria but his eyes still crinkled at the corners even after he got his shorts on. “C’mere, it’s your turn to get legs,” He held up his other pair of shorts and took out a potion with a mischievous grin of his own.
"Hand me the shorts first," Arria swam over to Carter lazily and held out his hand, "I am not ending up in the same situation as you. Although the view was quite nice." He let out another giggle as he looked up at him.
Carter laughed, handing Arria the potion and the shorts at the same time. He moved to lay on his abdomen, resting his chin on his hands and watching his sea boy with a smirk.
“Don’t look at me like that…” Arria mumbled, swimming backwards a little before uncorking the bottle and draining it. After a few moments, the splitting feeling down his tail surfaced, his tail soon splitting in two and kegs forming shortly after. He quickly slipped on the shorts.
Carter immediately averted his gaze, ashamed of himself as he moved to sit up. I just need to be better… “I- I’m sorry,” He apologized, fixing his eyes to his bag instead. He didn’t want to force Arria to be uncomfortable in any way, and he was just getting more annoyed with himself by the second. Maybe… maybe I should call off the wedding, after everything that happened with Yuri… Carter tried not to let his emotions show as he put on a shirt, holding out the other one for Arria.
Arria swam over to Carter with a frown at his apology, confusion lining ever feature, “What for?” He asked, pushing himself up into the rock and took the shirt gently from him.
“Just- Just for smirking at you like that, I didn’t mean- I just won’t ever do it again, I promise.” Carter told him, nodding his head as if to affirm it. “And if you… well, if you wanted to call of the wedding for now, in light of recent events, we can do that too, I don’t want to push you.”
“Woah, woah woah, slow down. One, when you smirk like that, it’s hot so don’t stop, two, I absolutely do not want to call off the wedding.” Arria said, resting his head on Carter’s shoulder, “I am marrying you and that’s that. Yuri is not going to stop that.”
“Are- Are you sure?” He asked, looking at Arria with worried eyes. What if he’s just saying that for me or… or… He hugged his sea boy closer, studying his face to search for any signs of covering up the truth just to make Carter happy.
Arria smiled at Carter, placing a hand on his cheek, “I’m sure, Carter.” He didn’t want Carter to worry because there was nothing to worry about. He placed a kiss to hisnloves lips to prove his point.
Carter let out a breath he didn’t know he had been holding, smiling and kissing Arria back. He pulled away to finally say, “Alright, then, love. But if I recall correctly… we were just about to go to movie,” He smiled a little bit more, intertwining his fingers with Arria’s.
Arria gave Carter’s hand a squeeze and nodded, his grin widening and his eyes shining even brighter, “I believe so.” He stood up and pulled Carter with him, “Come on then!” He let out a little laugh.
Carter stood, testing out his legs cautiously at first and stretching them to get adjusted as he asked, “So you said there was a land exit and entrance… where is it?”
Arria grinned, “This way.” He hummed, leading Carter away, slightly wobbly on his legs. They walked through the back of the cave where all the plants were to a small tunnel. Light streamed through the small exit, “After you.”
Carter smiled, slipping out of the cave only to be hit with the bright sunlight. He blinked a few times, not quite used to it from being underwater and in the cave all this time. The birds chirped all around, a fresh breeze swept through. Carter grinned, getting even more excited to be with Arria.
Arria clumbednout shortky after Carter and nearly tripped and fell forwards. Luckily, he regained hold of his footing and looked around, “The wind is cold…” he grumbled, not used to it as it swept through and dried his hair.
“It’s not so bad,” Carter told him, but seized the moment to put an arm around Arria with a smile anyways. “We got a bit of walking to do, I might need to use a phone booth and call a friend to help us out.”
Arria nodded and leaned into Carter’s side, “Okay. And the wind is bad. You’re used to it! There’s no wind underwater!” He waved a hand idly with a huff.
Carter chuckled a little, humming as the couple made their way away and Carter found the closest phone booth, where he inserted a dollar and called his friend, Elecia. He knew she was bi, and her sister worked at a movie theater, and he had a favor to call in. When she answered, Carter explained that he wanted to do something special for his boyfriend and take him shopping and to a movie. Her immediate reaction was surprise, apparently he was ‘missing or worse’, but Carter quickly explained he wanted to keep it that way. With a bit of wearing down, he finally convinced her to lend him her car for the day. Carter hung up the phone then smiled at Arria, “Elecia said she would help!” Thankfully, she didn’t live that far away, “We just have a little more walking to do.”
