Ember fumbled with the gun for a second before turning it on the man with an apologetic look. She pulled the trigger, and handed the gun back to Alex. She'd never shot anyone before and the feel of the gun in her hands felt un-natural.
Ember fumbled with the gun for a second before turning it on the man with an apologetic look. She pulled the trigger, and handed the gun back to Alex. She'd never shot anyone before and the feel of the gun in her hands felt un-natural.
Alex sighs, “My apologizes, Ember, this didn’t have the turnout I expected,” He recollects himself but seems to have a hint of something off in his eyes, “you did a fantastic job” he dusts off his clothes, “lets leave here” he begins walking out of the door and back towards the entrance of the manor
Ember took another moment staring at her hands before snapping out of it and following. "Sir, I- what did he owe you? If you don't mind me asking that is."
He takes the gun from her hands and puts it back in its holster, “ten point five million dollars” he hears the beginnings of police sirens in the distance, “crunch time” he takes out a few bills from his lapel and hands them to one of the maids there
Ember nodded her head. "Right. Crunch time." She put her knife away as to not look like a threat, if push came to shove.
He quickly walks out and into the car, beckoning her to get in
Ember got in the car, and offered a smile. Even though she still felt the weight of the gun in her hands, and didn't feel like smiling. "So. That was, fun."
He begins driving in silence, “…my apologies, that was very unprofessional of me. However, it is a good thing you got some experience with when stuff doesn’t go how it’s expected to.”
"Do things ever go as planned? Or do you always- wait. Didn't you used to have another bodyguard? What happened to them?" Ember glanced over at him.
“Things do go as planed, sometimes. And yes, Winston, he was great…” he pauses and goes silent for a moment, staring out of the front window and tapping his fingers on the steering wheel, “he was captured and killed”
"Oh." Ember mumbled. She looked back down at her hands and wrung them in her lap. When ever she got nervous she'd itch for the feeling of a knife in her hands.
“I wouldn’t worry though. That was months ago, we run things much differently now” he clears his throat, “you’ll be staying in a room adjacent to mine, for safety reasons, and your pay will be very high”
"Oh of course. Though don't worry to much about the pay. I didn't get involved for the money." And it was true. Ember wasn't in it for money, much rather of other reasons.
He chuckles slightly, “then what’re you in it for?”
Ember shrugged. "That's for me to know. And no one to find out." She looked out the window boredly. "So. What exactly do I do? Follow you around everywhere?"
“Pretty much, what I do, you echo, all the time” he parks the car and unlocks his car doors, “but if tell you to not follow me, you do not follow me. Regardless of how long you’ve been trained to do otherwise”
"Right. Yes sir." Ember nodded her head. "But what if I know something is going to go wrong?"
“Let it go wrong.” He opens his door and presses a button for hers to open as well, “if I have told you to go, you go. even if you think you have a solution to something, you go.”
"Right. Okay." Ember got out of the car and streched. Careful of her knifes. "Do you have anything else that involves murder today?"
“Murder of my own kidneys” he says with a slight laugh, “no, I don’t plan on doing anything else besides drinking today” he gets out and stretches, taking off his dress shirt and walking towards the door
"Oh. Drinking." Ember sighed and looked around. "I suppose this would be considered normal?"
“Normal for me at least..” he pauses, “how old are you Ember?”
Ember narrowed her eyes at him, "why do you ask? It's not like I'll be drinking. Unless you want me to echo that too?" Her tone had changed, become less sweet and more challenging.
“Woah now, feisty one, I was going to offer you a drink to be be nice, but I suppose that’ll not be the case” he chuckles, “You know, I might enjoy having to deal with you constantly”
"Oh trust me, people get bored eventually." Ember gave a smile, "though if you where to offer me a drink I just might except it."
He walks through one of the many hallways and into a small kitchen, except it has alcohol instead of food in the cabinets, “oh? Well then let me see what I have for a feisty girl like you”
Ember followed and once in the kitchen of alcohol jumped up on one of the counters and sat. She was rather mellow at the moment, but if anyone where to threaten her she'd be ready for a fight in seconds.
Alex pours himself a rather large glass of whiskey before handing Ember a glass of a much more carefully constructed, fruity drink, “can I interest you in a drink?” He asks, being purposefully over dramatic
Ember rolled her eyes, but decided to play along. "Why of course good sir." She took the drink and offered a rare warm smile, before taking a sip of the drink.
He smiles as well, a genuine true smile, before downing a large amount of his drink in one gulp, “It is my pleasure to serve you my fair lady”
