The crowd around the exquisite stage was loud with anticipation. As the District 1 equivalent of Effie Trinket, Valentina Zoe, walked up the golden steps, they all fell silent, watching her swish her fingers throughout the fishbowl-like container with all of the names inside. “Ladies first!” Valentina trilled, and she fished out a slip.
Flavia prayed silently for her name to be drawn.
“Flavia Atala!” She called. The crowd cheered as Flavia skipped her way to her spot next to Valentina, smiling wildly.

Gloss clapped harder than his parents did for his sister. His family’s philosophy was, after all, to compete until you win! And he wanted to win.
Valentina drew a slip out of the boy’s fishbowl. “And the male tribute for the 100th annual Hunger Games is….” she read the slip. “Cation Evis!”
“NO!” Gloss yelled. “I VOLUNTEER!” The crowd fell silent, every face turning to look at him. A lump rose in his throat, but he boldly repeated his statement. “I VOLUNTEER!”
Gloss had no idea who this ‘Cation Evis’ was, but he knew that he could not let his sister get all of the glory.

(I was thinking Quarter Quell, yeah. That’s where the teams were gonna come in, at least thats what I was thinking…. suggestions are welcome!)
