Dowling’s eyes widened, and Silva cracked a small smirk.

The Burned One roared and charged at them. Dowling’s eyes changed to a silver-blue, just like Eve’s, and she nodded to Silva.

anya had it after her, using her explosions to bounce around. she took a chance to swing " shit!" she yelped as she rolled

Silva laughed quietly. “She’s ambitious. Reminds me of…”

Dowling rolled her eyes. “Oh, stop.” She telekinetically blasted the creature into a tree. It hit the ground hard but still got up.

anya held her blade in its back, keeping it down. " stay."

Dowling arched her eyebrows, impressed. Her eyes glowed again, and the Burned One smoked and began to screech. The headmistress was incinerating it from the inside out.

anya watched as it died, " … " once the deed was done, she pulled out her sword and cleaned it on her shirt. her mind stayed on eve the whole time.

“We should get back,” Dowling said, not needing to read Anya’s mind to think the same thing. She pivoted on a dime and started off towards the school at nearly the same pace as she’d been keeping heading toward the forest.

Anya nodded and headed back in just the same pace. " Coming sir?" She asked from behind

“Of course,” Silva replied, falling into step with Anya. “And you don’t have to call us sir and ma’am. Especially not since you’re dating our daughter. Saul and Farah work just fine.”

Dowling’s back was to them as she led them up the sloping hill on their return to the school, so neither Silva nor Anya could see her small smile.

" right, I'll remember that," she said and gave a sliver of a smile. The first in a long time. Anya couldn't wait to get back up to eve. Tears burned her eyes as the got closer to the office.

Dowling and Silva seemed to share the same anticipation. Dowling was practically running by the time they reached the small office area adjacent to hers.

Anya ran in, " eve?" She asked timidly for an answer.

Eve was sitting up on the couch with her back to the door. At the sound of Anya’s voice, she whipped around with a huge smile on her face and tears in her eye. “Anya,” she whispered, rushing over and wrapping her in a very tight hug.

Anya spin then around a bit, laughing and crying all at the same time. " You scared me!" She said into eves shoulder " I thought I'd lose you..,"

“It’s gonna take a lot more than an ugly Burned One to kill me,” Eve replied, her voice thick with emotion. She pressed a kiss to the top Anya’s hair and trembled as she held her tightly.

Anya kept a hold on her, tears streaming down her face. She heard eves parents enter, not daring to show herself crying to anyone else today.

“You’re alright.”

Eve looked up to see Dowling and Silva standing together by the door. “Thanks to you,” she replied with a strained smile.

Anya let her hug go, letting eve ho back to her parents. " And choped liver over here.." she chuckled softly

Eve laughed. “Of course you too.” She leaned in closer to Anya and whispered in her ear, “But I’ll express my thanks to you differently and later~” With that, Eve looked over at her parents, and Farah couldn’t take it any more. She rushed to her daughter and enveloped her in a crushing hug.

AnyA had a slight blush on her face, " a..and there's no pain or at least just barely any? " She asked softly.

“It’s fading,” Eve replied, hugging her mother back for all she was worth. “I’m alright,” she murmured quietly. “Don’t cry,” she added quieter so Anya wouldn’t hear.

" we should get back, I left all the equipment out and last thing I need is a first year getting hurt, saul" she said and walked past the three.

Saul nodded, a small smile catching on his face as Eve and Farah let go, and Eve moved to follow Anya. “I’m alright, I promise,” she assured them and followed Anya.

Once they were out of earshot of Dowling’s office, Eve arched her eyebrows. “Saul?”

" they said that since we were dating I might as well say their first names.." she said and walked closer to eve.

“Ah,” Eve murmured with a grin. “Is that what we are?” she teased and bumped their shoulders together as they walked.
