Flint knows that anything he does to try to comfort Lucas would fail. He knows that it would be better to throw him over now, to get it over and done with. He starts counting down from five under his breath.

"Phiri!" Lucas struggled against the ropes. They were crushing his wings, but that was the least of his concern at the moment. "Phiri!"
"Three…" Flint closes his eyes. "Two…" He prepares to drop him. "One," He lets the rope go.
(Should we wait for the others? Or…? Did we decide on a siren or Trin saving them?)
(Should probably wait for the others)
(Yeah…)
"NOW!" Phiri cries, rushing towards her brother with Manilla. She quickly grabs her brother, and pulls him high up, so the sirens will have a hard time getting him. "Manilla! Help me untie it!"
Lucas clung to Phiri, crying. He seemed unable to speak for the time being.
"We're gonna get you out!" Phiri grunts as she and Manilla fiddle with the rope.
( Now I guess we wait for the others? I mean, what else can we do without them? )
(Yeah, I guess so)
( wanna talk through inbox? )
(Sure)
Flint takes a step back, watching the faires with a small smile on his face. On the inside, he was giddy that Lucas was okay but he realizes that Trin won't be happy about this and he doesn't know what she'll do.
( I guess now we gotta wait for @Megan )
( but just for fun )
Phiri glared at the pirate watching them, trying her hardest to untie the rope quickly.
(IM HERE GUYS SORRY)
(I think what they mean is that when the other fairies save Lucas, Trin saves/captures them, maybe because she sees their bravery and wants them to fight, or maybe because she sees loyalty and wants them to help around the crew and stuff, I could be completely wrong but this is what I picked up)
This is what I was thinking
Flint notices the fairy glaring but lets it go. He silently cheers them on.
"Flint, what are you doing? You don't let go off the rope!" Trin rushes to the side of the ship.
She catches the rope and acts as if it is a cat toy, luring the sirens in.
"Phiri!" Manilla feels the brush of a tail against her wings.
"Sorry," Flint is too distracted to give a real response or excuse.
Lucas struggles against his bonds, still crying. No, no, no, no!
"Wait, whose fairies are those?" Trin notices two grasping on the rope, trying to untie Lucas.
"Flint, pull the rope up!"
"Noones, I saw them in the forest when I was taking Lucas," Flint replies.
Flint obeys, pulling the rope up quickly.
"And they followed him all the way here. Interesting. They look tough, could win me a lot."
When the rope is on deck, Flint unties Lucas and gently picks him up. "You already have a fairy though."
"Who cares! Pirates have been getting two lately. You take the other air and I will take this water." Trin grabs Manilla and flings her into the cage.
