so i actually haven't thought about how the mortal realm came into being, but fairies and humans used to live in the same realm when things got dicey between them. the first king (being the first, most powerful fairy being and the only fairy king ever) decided to create the realm of faery where fairies could go live in peace by themselves and not have to deal with humans trying to steal their magic. he probably had help from the gods, but that's the origin of faery. (all fairies know how their world came to be, but for humans it's more ambiguous. i think i made a reference to the biblical creation story, but the story isn't about humans, so i don't dwell on it.)

@Ludan Beta Tester

@Cami What happened after the Fairy King created the Realm of Faery? Was he deposed via coup d'état and replaced with a fairy dictator or a council of fairy republicans? Why was he the only fairy king ever?

According to religious texts, there was nothing but the starry void of space until two beings, Izal and Eri, were born from the stars. They lived happily together, and had a child, Cora. As a gift to this child, they spent centuries building the planet and populating it with all sorts of wonders, including humanity, then entrusted Cora to take care of it. After several thousand years, however, either Izal and Eri (depending on the story) grew jealous of Cora, and were unable to convince their spouse to create a new world. They plotted to kill Cora, but were stopped by their spouse, and both Izal and Eri died in a fight. Cora buried their parents on the planet's surface, granting the world the use of magic.

The story is somewhat based on what actually happened, though the planet's origins were actually entirely mundane.

@cami

@Ludan the first king only had a daughter – and so on and so forth, only daughters were born, so once the first king died, it became a matriarchal society.

(at least, only celestial fairies were matriarchal. the five other sects of fairies could have queens or kings.)

@Ludan Beta Tester

@Cami If they're called sects, does that mean that when the first king died, the Realm was split among groups that all had different interpretations of his religious teachings?

@ArtisticKnifepoint

In my story, the Dragoshi (they´re basically half-human, half-dragon) believe that they´re descended from Ender: a big black dragon who created their planet. He had children, the first Dragoshi, but all of them had different blood colours, and different life spans, and they began to fight amongst themselves as they multiplied. In the end, he created a Dragoshi embodiment of himself, named Viodalza, and sent it as a Phrophet. In the end, it was decided that a castle system based of blood colour had to be created, based off who was the most closely related to Ender. Viodalza used Ender´s magic to see who was closely related. The group closest to Ender would be the royal family, and split into regions, with the two most closely related being the Emprer and/or Empress. The next three would be High Nobelety, the next three would be middle class, and the lower three would be peasentry. However, since Viodalza had no place, having black blood. Eventually Ender decided to leave the body and create it´s own personality, and name her it´s only child. This angered the Dragoshi, and they killed Viodalza. However, every 1000000 years (100 years in Dragoshi years, as one Dragoshi year is 100 years) a black blood that looks exactly like Viodalza will come and try to kill the current Emperor and carry ´The Will of Ender´ upon them.

It´s also recorded in the oldest Dragoshi texts that Ender had help from the Human God named Sol to create the planet of Dra (the planet the Dragoshi live on) but either side refuse to acknowledge this. It´s also mentioned that Sol tried to create his own sub-species of Dragoshi, and that resulted in Twice-bloods: Dragoshi with two blood colors.

@Lavy-the-Nerdy-Sci-Fi-Birdy

I'm kind of on a writer's block, because in my creation story, the planets are the sentient children of the creator/goddess Elaehi, and i'm not sure how to transition to the planets having races and plants living on them, so i was wondering if anyone had some ideas.

@Ludan Beta Tester

@"The Lavender Owl" The planets all have different personalities and the one who was most prone to feelings of loneliness was the first to desire some little friends to live on its surface. The lonely planet asked Elaehi for living beings to dwell on its surface, and requested that they be social and energetic so that it would no longer feel lonely. Then, the planet whose personality inclined it the most towards feelings of jealousy demanded that Elaehi put life on its planet too, and that they be brilliant and creative so they will build impressive things to put the achievements of the lonely planet's life to shame.
I hope that helps you get started on the other planets :)

@Lord_Dunconius

First, there was Khaos. Then, by their nature, Khaos created the others. Death, and Dream, Gaea and Ouranos, Erida and Eros, Aether and Nyx, Chronos and The Sisters.
Then Gaea and Ouranos had a one-night stand, and life crept into this cold universe. Gods and titans, beasts and men, angels and demons. They continued and bred and bled and made this world the hell it is.

And now the olds gods wait in the dark. For those of the dark come back to the dark. It’s always their true home.
Death, the Grim Reaper, comes in an out. The busiest, most famous one of them all.
Morpheus, the Sandman, comes to a few. For only the smartest can dream up a view.
Chronos, timekeeper, has not much on his hands. For man does his job by watching the sands.
Eros, insanity in its purest form, never got out much, and doesn’t anymore.
Erida, the Hatred, seethes always in rage. Her powers, forever, not changed since the Stone Age.
Nyx, the night, the closest to nothing, flees a lost lover to avoid his loving.
Aether, the light, the sun of the world, pursues, lust, his lifelong girl.
The Three Fates are still weaving, weaving worlds and revenge due. It’s them who decide what will be true.
Gaea, the mother, earth, hearth, and life, watches as her children fall to great strife.
Ouranos, the sky, the king of the clouds, sits, lonesome, empty, devoid of all crowds.
Khaos, creation, the father of all. Blamed for all evil, no good seems to call.

I had that stored away on some google doc. But it's really just Khaos creating a few embodiments of certain emotions or laws, and then the Big Bang was Gaea and Ouranos, well, banging, and the rest of the universe came in.

@Lenered

My "Earth" is the skeleton of a deceased goddess. Nyctea was the goddess of life and abundance, but she died and her daughter Solis took the throne, Nyctea was convinced that Solis had killed her to take over the throne, (She was still alive, just dead in the underworld, or depths of chaos, as the people on the planet I made up call it) so she turned full evil goddess and battled Solis for 50 years, but only when she could come back, which was during the night, until Solis won and Nyctea's being retired to the underworld, and her skeleton became the planet. They associate Nyctea with the moon and as a result associate the moon with evil and death and they have a superstition that Nyctea comes back each night, after the moon rises, to seek Solis and get revenge.

Stormageddon, Dark lord of all

My Universe was a part of a larger universe in which there were 121 beings alive. these beings were exceedingly powerful, however, and eventually a disagreement on how something should be made sparked a split into three factions. The first and most compassionate thought that they would give the creature four legs, but no wings, to keep them from becoming arrogant in their strength. The second group, the one that most thought about the survival of this species, thought that they would be given two legs and two wings, alongside fire breath to fight for survival. The third and most progressive group said hey, why not all of the above? It was around this time that the being most closely attuned to the aspect of time, named Yenar, realized that cosmic beings are excessively stubborn. so he literally shattered time, and stuck one member of each faction into each fragment. Most ended up killing each other out, but this one and two others were able to survive with all three "Gods" of their worlds alive. So there are three planes that are not complete barren wastelands. Kinai, the relatively normal plane and setting for the main part of the story; Euprea, the dream realm that is only accessible to few adults but almost all kids; and Phabith, the basically hellscape where everything is magic and incredibly ugly, deformed, and warlike. Phabith is like that because time is weird, and the three "gods" that were put there have been put on an endless loop to preserve them, as they are attuned to Life, Existence, and Space, all of which are kinda necessary for survival.

On the First Day, a time traveller, Jordan Bone, brought a woman named Rebecca Tan back to the beginning of the Universe. This created activity in the aether and the random movements of particles henceforth brought about the universe. Then Rebecca Tan, who had in her own time been Gifted the ability to bestow sentience upon a concept, made the universe sentient. As anything Rebecca Tan gave sentience would develop abilities in accordance with how they were personified, the Universe became all-powerful, for She was viewed as a goddess in Rebecca's time. When humanity came into being, the Prima Universum bestowed some of them with Gifts to aid their progress. These included Jordan Bone's Gift of time travel and Rebecca's of bestowing sentience, so it is said that the Prima Universum facilitated her own creation.

There are various versions of this myth (especially of the characters of Jordan and Rebecca), but this is the basic version.

@Tarrant_Korrin

Before the universe existed there were two primal forces that were constantly at war. they weren't a dichotomy or anything, no order and chaos bs, they just were. they clashed in the void of existence and every time they did, sparks would fly, pieces of themselves, until finally the entirety of their existence had been worn away and they both vanished, leaving their remains floating, scattered throughout the void. Even these fragments were incompatible with each other, and they separated, each collection of sparks inhabiting their own dimension. the sparks became planets and the planets gave birth to life. but over time the scattered consciousness, the lost will of the entities, grew in strength, and the sparks began to push at their boundaries and the universe's began to collide, each trying to destroy the other in their undying lust for power and supremacy. And that leads into the events of the book.

@Lord_Hellstrande

The most popular belief among my universe is that their pantheon, 21 gods and goddesses, got together after looking at the nothingness of primal chaos. After much deliberation and arguing, it was agreed that something would be made to look up to them and worship them. Each deity was told to bring something into this new universe they were creating; light, war, peace, magic, ect. and each had a hand in shaping the known universe. Each deity also created their own, smaller world for themselves and their underlings and projects (should they have any) and linked it to the world they preside over.

@yeetus

There are two Sides, called Light and Dark, but it doesn't mean good and evil. The world now is one of a chain of many worlds that are the "testing zone" for the paradise for the Light when the Dark attacks. Seven disciples of the Lord of Light (Lord doesn't mean they're male) are in charge of creating these worlds, but afterwards they just watched and reports to their Lord. The People know of the Seven but not their names or any specifics. They all know how the world was created, and that the Seven are not "gods" in that sense, so they don't worship the Seven like that.

@sheioriad

Okay. So. Medalian creation myth. It'll be long but bear with me.

In the beginning, there were four. There was Om, the Void. Om was nothingness, and never gained consciousness. It is the space between atoms and quarks and particles of air. It simply existed. There was the Force of Binding, called Erdav. This is the force that holds the world together. It also never gained consciousness and simply existed. There were also the Forces of Good/Order/Creation/Light and Evil/Chaos/Destruction/Darkness (all of these are just words assigned to differentiate them) called Ahyn and Taris respectively. These two Forces, at an unknown time (because that didn't exist yet) gained consciousness. When this happened, Ahyn realised that it wanted to create.

Ahyn created three things by using the Word, Ahm. These things were Energy, Time, and Space. Time and Space are fairly self-explanatory. Energy is a lesser Force that is in everything. Then Ahyn created a form for itself which existed within both Time (Ksana) and Space (Ksata). This proved a mistake, for that which exists within Time and Space changes over Time, until it is different at its very core. Even Energy changes when it is within Time. So Ahyn left its first form and created another one that was in Space but not Time, and so it did not change. Now you see, Taris had also wanted to create, but Taris's very being prevented it from creating anything itself. So it copied the form of Ahyn, only twisted and strange. But Taris did not know about what Time did, and so eventually it found its form scattered across Space, very much changed. It then understood what Ahyn had done, and did it also.

Ahyn now had created so much, and Taris had copied and changed so much, that Ahyn wanted to separate its creations from Taris's. So Ahyn took a bit of Space and separated it into nine Realms. It communicated to Taris that it would take the upper five for its creations, and Taris could have the lower four. This Taris was appeased with, and it made up the missing Realm with millions of smaller Realms within its four.

Ahyn looked upon its creations, and it was pleased. But it saw the empty realms, and wanted them to be full, for this is its way. And so Ahyn made more beings, and this time made them a bit differently. Ahyn took Space and a tiny bit of Time, and also a small piece of itself, and from these it made eight beings. The beings were small (in comparison to Ahyn) but tall, and lithe, and very beautiful. The beings shone with a cold silver light, and Ahyn called the beings Stars. Ahyn placed the Stars in the uppermost Realm, and called it Sheh'hem after them, for "sheh" means Star. The danced for Ahyn, and to this day they can be seen dancing in their groups, although it seems very slow. Taris saw this, and was jealous. So Taris did the same as Ahyn had, and it made Draemons. The Draemons were larger than Stars, and they were ugly and instead of shining, they were dull. Taris took the Draemons and placed them in the bottommost Realm, Morde'hem, for "morde" means Draemon. So two of the realms were filled.

Now the story shifts from the Forces to the Stars. There were, a very long time ago, two Stars, and their names were Azamus and Azina. One quiet evening, Azina gave birth to the child she had been expecting. And the child was different from its parents. It had no apparent sex, and it had not the Energy of a Star. Then Ahyn came in the guise of a Star, and told Azamus and Azina that the child was a new being, and that it was the first of many, and to call this new race "gods." So Azamus and Azina raised their child to have kindness, courage, wisdom, and creativity. When the time was right, they gave the child a name and a pronoun, and the name was Rani Almene, and the pronoun was "they." Then Ahyn came to Them, and showed Rani Almene the realm just below Sheh'hem, and said that They could have it for Their own, to do with what They wished. Rani Almene accepted, and the realm was named Thata'hem, for "Thata" means god.

At the same time that this happened, so there was its mirror. There were two Draemons, and their names were Zakoshus and Zakesha. One morning, Zakesha birthed the child she had been expecting. And the child was different from its parents. It had no apparent sex, and it had not the Energy of a Draemon. Then Taris came in the guise of a Draemon, and told Zakoshus and Zakesha that the child was a new being, and that it was the first of many, and to call this new race "demons." So Zakoshus and Zakesha raised their child to have ruthlessness, cunning, courage, and pride. When the time was right, they gave the child a name and a pronoun, and the name was Luzinor Sertes, and the pronoun was "They." Then Taris came down again, and showed Luzinor Sertes the realm just above Morde'hem, and said that They could have it for Their own, to do with what They wished. Luzinor Sertes accepted, and the realm was named Vrach'hem, for "vrach" means demon.

Rani Almene made Thata'hem into a beautiful and orderly place, and discovered that They loved to create. Soon enough Rani Almene made others who were like Them, using a tiny piece of Themself for each. The first gods that They created were Zaefyon, Parvanti, and Yovann. Then They and the other gods created all of the other gods.

Luzinor Sertes made Vrach'hem into a chaotic and hellish place, and discovered that They loved to copy and twist things to Their own liking. Soon enough Luzinor Sertes made others who were like Them, using a tiny piece of Themself for each. The first demons that They created were Uradz, Nordach, and Cheket. Then They and the other demons created all of the other demons.

When Rani Almene had created many, many smallish things, They had an idea for a very large thing to be made. They told it to the other gods, and all began to work. Firstly, Khordran made many types and kinds of stone, and made a great form with them. It was roundish, and had many low, low valleys, and many high, high peaks, and spires and pinnacles and mounds and holes and dips in it. Secondly, Netara Selen made holes inside the rock, and caves and underground places. Thirdly, Amlatka and Oshauna filled the largest basins with water, but it was salty and not to drink. Fourth, Amlatka, Inlir, and Umerre made water in some of the dips above the sea, and traced riverbeds with Their fingers and filled these also. And this water was fresh. Fifth, Malatya made fire and made it inside of some mountains, and deep within the earth, and a different fire that would burn some things and not others, and not all the time. Sixth, Janelesh and Sevrhiya made the air and the wind, to whistle around the peaks and fill the empty spaces. Seventh, Ferryn Dalbaen spread soil around in the places that They chose, and Parvanti made wild plants and trees. Then the world was ready, and Yovann filled it with all manner of animals.

The gods saw the lands that They had made would need to be kept, and so They made the Valide. The Valide are nature spirits who guard and care for a type or piece of land. They were made from all the elements, and given life by the gods, but they also have within them a tiny piece of everything in their land, and so are tied to it by their very souls, and their children are the Validai. Many other spirits also found their ways to the world.

This world was in the realm called Helias'hem, and the gods called it Medalia, and that is how this world was made.

Again, so sorry for the long post. Reply to this if you have any questions or suggestions.

@Darkblossom group

There are three gods: Astrice, Icne, and Lukant. Astrice created the other two, and then created human mortals, a balance of light and dark magic, giving them free will. Lukant believed that the humans should not have free will, and so sought to destroy them. That is his divine objective, and so he gave up half his magic to accomplish this task. He gave up dark magic, and now that he is no longer a balance he cannot take a fully physical form. He created the demons to serve him, creatures that did have the ability to take a physical form but did not have free will. So that Lukant would not destroy all physical life, Icne took protecting the humans as her divine objective, and gave up light magic so she could properly counteract Lukant. She created angels to serve her and fight against Lukant’s demons. Astrice remained a balance, but could do nothing against Lukant, and so she evaporated herself into the land, making light and dark magic forces of nature that the humans could use to fight against the gods and spirits.
Story of the sun’s creation: Lukant left heaven, aka the moon, and wanted to create a home much grander than Icne and Astrice’s home. So he created a bright light that would shine and fill the sky, filled with fiery light magic. He created hell, bigger and brighter than heaven, the home of the demons.

Hope you like that extensive lore.

@RainClouds_Itachi_

in my story, it all starts with Nothing.
Nothing existed, and it was alone. Nothing did not want to be alone, so it created our known universe. it first created the Celestial beings, to keep the world as in order as possible. the more order, the less of a chance of it's creation destroying itself. except, it seemed that no matter what it did, it was inevitable, it's creation would destroy itself. so in a desperate attempt, it shattered it's first and most important creation, Time. this created more chaos then ever before, but that did not matter to Nothing. because Nothing was not alone.

and that's kinda the basics of the creation story
no one really knows Nothing, they all worship their own deities, but they are all subconsciously aware of it

@Young-Dusty-the-Monarch-of-Dusteria group

I have a race of desert aliens called the Tiqaq I'm developing, and they're very into science. Origin stories, mythologies, and religious beliefs are rarely taken seriously by modern Tiqaq, but historians/theologians/anthropologists/ect. still preserve and study the old stories out of professional interest. The most common creation story is as follows:
Long long ago, the world contained no water, and therefore no life. There was only sand and wind and sun.
Then, one of the stars fell into the desert, into a little cave. The star shed light in all colors, and as the light touched the walls of the cave it melted the sand into water. The water flooded out and spread, becoming the sea, and sank into the ground, becoming the springs and rivers all across the planet. Meanwhile the star kept shedding light. Eventually something else sprang out: a plant which became all the plants in the world. Then, there came the animals, some of whom swam to dry land and changed into all kinds of different creatures.
Finally, there came the first Tiqaq, Anat. They (Tiqaq do not have binary genders) lived in harmony with the other creatures, and was able to speak with the star that created it. Many other stories are told about the lessons the star taught Anat and the adventures they had as they explored the world.

@Mojack group

Finally, I have an answer for this!

In End of Time, the universe is ‘reset’ after 16 billion years or so. This signifies that Nuq, the ‘End of Time’, is at his adulthood (at least for the first resets. He’s done the whole ending the universe thing tens of hundreds of times now, so he’s very, very old.)
To understand this, we’ll go to the time of the first universe. Nuq is raised alongside his sibling, Azer, in the God’s Pavilion. He’s raised by an unnamed deity, who teaches him and Azer everything they know. After that, about 1 billion years from the reset, the Deity sends Nuq and Azer away, to where they erase the God’s Pavilion, and ultimately themselves. The secrets are locked away forever.

Current the universe is just an empty void. The Pavilion had stuff going on..now it’s just nothing. During that period of time though, Nuq and Azer had arguments, which set them further apart. They fought, but at the end of the billion years, Nuq finally had enough and lashed out again Azer, now wielding something called the Celestial Weapons. They clashed for millions of years, before when time was up, both Nuq and Azer used a move that ended up in the creation of the new universe, kind of like the Big Bang, but caused by shapeshifting space dragons.

This move also provided conditions suitable for the long railroad of life to eventually form. No one won the fight, and Azer retired to a massive nebula, hiding inside of it, while Nuq left for a rocky planet and fell asleep there, eventually becoming buried under the rock.

Again, now there is life this time, so the conditions change. Nuq awakens, destroying the planet he was on, and eventually the solar system he was in, regaining his energy. He shifts again to his ‘humanoid’ form, wielding his Celestial Weapon, and begins to destroy move planets, this triggering the awakening of Azer on the other size of the universe. Some might portray Azer as good but neither Nuq or Azer are good or evil. They’re just doing their job. Azer also causes unintended destruction on the way. Again, they fight for millions of years, and use the move..and rinse and repeat.

Summed up, two siblings raised by an unknown deity grow apart and fight, cause big boom and go to sleep on opposite ends of the universe for a few billion years, rinse and repeat minus the deity thing

Not everyone believes in it of course, and not everyone even knows the full story, either

@MatronaDasMolniyas

My universe started with nothing but chaos. Moments later, a thundercloud was formed, creating lightning that struck the chaos and formed two portals that gave rise to two lightning dragon divinities: Molniya and Tximista. They fell in love and later gave birth to twelve male dragon divinities. Then, large water drops from that same thundercloud fell into the chaos and formed two portals that created two beast divinities: Kruha, the chimera divinity, and Hayop, the harpy divinity. They fell in love with each other and later gave birth to four sons and two daughters who are all mythic beast divinities. The lightning dragon divinity family and the beast divinity family meet, and their children play and train together. Some moments later, the children grew from youths to adults.

Many moments later, Molniya and Tximista, and Kruha and Hayop, went to parts unknown and fell into their deep slumber, leaving their grown adult children behind. Each of the offspring has their own gemstone pendant, using it to seal their dragon or beast form and transform into a human. The twelve dragon sons, called the Molniyan Divinities, and the six beast offspring, called the Kruhan Divinities, proceeded to create the world after transforming back to their true forms.

Two Molniyan Divinities, both serpentine lightning dragons, established time and space and created the universe and one planet. On the first year, two Molniyan Divinities, a dragon of fire and a dragon of earth and spring, descended to the planet and created fire and earth, making the first year the year of fire. On the second year, two Molniyan Divinities, a dragon of water and autumn and a dragon of wind and summer, descended to the flaming planet and created water and wind to establish bodies of water, making the second year the year of water. The third year involved the Earth and Spring Molniyan Divinity to bring the spring season, followed by two Molniyan Divinities–a white dragon of light and a black dragon of darkness–to bring day and night to the world. The fourth year involved the Wind and Summer Molniyan Divinity to bring the summer season. The fifth year involved the Water and Autumn Molniyan Divinity to bring the autumn season. On the sixth year, the Ice and Winter Molniyan Divinity descended to the planet to bring winter, making the sixth year the year of winter. On the seventh year in its fourth month, after the Earth and Spring Molniyan Divinity brought spring, the three Supreme Molniyan Divinities–one a clear lightning dragon, the second an elemental dragon, and the third a twin-tailed duplex dragon–balanced all the elements, time and space, and the four seasons.

Having finished seven years of creation labor, the Molniyan Divinities departed the planet and went into another dimension, where they slept. From there, the Kruhan Divinities descended to the planet and proceeded with their contributions to it. First, the Phoenix Kruhan Divinity brought to life every species of majestic bird. Second, the Cerberus Kruhan Divinity brought every species of canine, such as the wolf and dog, to life. Third, the Merman Kruhan Divinity created every species of aquatic creature. Fourth, the Goblin Kruhan Divinity brought to life every humanoid species such as goblins, orcs, dwarves, and elves, as well as every hominid species such as chimpanzees and gorillas. Fifth, the Gryphon Kruhan Divinity brought every species of bird and feline to life. Lastly, the Unicorn Kruhan Divinity created every species of equine. The six Kruhan Divinities created all other animal species such as insects and bovines, all known monster species, and the first humans. They tasked the first humans to do what they wanted with the animals and monsters as they see fit.

By the time the Kruhan Divinities finished their contributions to the world, summer came on the seventh month of the seventh year. The six depart from the world for another dimension, where they fell into a long, deep slumber.

Humans and mortals did the rest as the years passed…

I apologize if this was long, but I just wanted to get this out of my chest. I also leave a note that my Molniyan and Kruhan Divinities do not gain their full human names until much later. Thank you for understanding and take care.
