When I first started working on one of my projects I had used the idea of Kitsune as a sort of symbol + like,, a THING, but as the story has progressed it’s become a much more valuable part of the culture and one of the religions in my world— however knowing kitsune and their existing ties to the Shinto religion and Inari and stuff, i’m not sure if I should substitute it for a different creature? I’m personally not a Shintoist(? I apologize if that’s not the right terminology,,) either and it feels wrong to use something from the religion pretty much only for aesthetic and symbolism purposes. What should I do?? ( Also I HAVEN’T BEEN ON NOTEBOOKAI IN FOREVER SO I’M NOT SURE IF THIS IS WHAT I’M SUPPOSED TO USE THE CONVERSATIONS THING FOR HAH I’M SO SORRY THANK YOU )
