I would build up the legend around the god, and then, based off of the legends, figure out a believeable plan for resurrection. A great example of this is the first Thor movie, or the series Rick Riordan wrote about ancient Egypt.

1-Ups occasionally work, then there's the Cup of Lifenoodles and Healing Omega (that one has a 50% chance, I think?), and Max Revives also work quite nicely. None of these work when the story demands it, however.

@Leo-Valdez-The-Super-Sized-Mcshizzle YES! Technically this God isn't dead. He was banished to an alternate dimension by the other Gods to stop him from taking over. The royal family's daughter is a Seer who can look into this dimension through an ancient mirror (haven't decided whether this mirror has any significance or whether she can just use any mirror) and she can make contact with him. I just need to figure out a way they can get him out.

I am needing to involve my main character who has Absorbing abilities (can absorb people's life forces). She was originally a Healer until she learned the Absorbing technique and then she got power sick from it.

Also, my other main character is actually the son of this God (basically half elf half God) so maybe that can be linked in.

this is probably long dead, but when hear dead god, it sounds like an oxymoron. I would say that a god doesn't die, but maybe he/she can be banished and is being summoned back to our world

That entirely depends on the Religion. In Norse mythology for example the gods don't die of old age, but they can be killed. There's honestly less religions with fully immortal gods (Judaism, Greek, Roman), than ones with gods that can be killed (Norse, Aztek, Egyptian, Shinto, etc etc). At least if we go by real world mythologies.
