Mari was so excited for her journey. She hadn't ever left her village- as was the custom with most water tribes. Tonight at exactly midnight she's take her first steps into the outside world and begin her journey. She was SO READY!!!
She had already packed her bags and everything! Now she just had to wait…
Zol broke into a run. Even though he was normally very calm, he couldn’t help himself. His first journey! He knew the Brothers would have disagreed with his behavior. He could already see the trace of rebuking smile. He got to the crossroads breathing heavily. He looked around eagerly. Nothing.
He smiled wryly to himself, I guess that is what I get for hurrying.
He sat down and prepared to wait.
Citra had been walking for a while now. Her mountain city so far off in the distance that she couldn't even see the citadel spires anymore. She felt suddenly vulnerable without the massive stone structures looming over her. Of course she had left the city multiples times during her life, but never had those trips felt as permanent as this time. She had a sense deep in her gut that she wasn't going to be returning. At least not anytime soon. They had practically hurried her out the main gates, she remmebered with a frown. Being a hybrid was looked down upon in her city, despite hybrids being naturally stronger. Let's not forget I'm a dark hybrid too. Even better. She scowled now as she summoned up a flame as dark as night and twirled it around her fingers.
She looked up as she heard something not far up ahead on the road. A crossroads. And there was a boy sitting there looking impatient as all hell.
Mari counted the seconds until midnight. When the time finally arose, she hugged her family one last time, took the ceremonial dip in the ocean, and grabbed her bags. It was finally time. She had been waiting for years for this.
She took one deep breath and took her first step into her adult life.
Zol peered into the distance. Is that? Is that someone else? He held out his staff and poured a beam of golden light from the tip. His light fell upon a girl. She seemed to be holding something made out of shadow. Was she an enemy? Or a friend?
(You should describe her clothes. Also, my dude is wearing some kind of robes.)
Citra approached slowly, blinking up at the sudden bright golden light the boy was producing from a staff. He was wearing bizarre robes, ones that reminded her of the ones the monks of the citadel wore but still odd. So different compared to the loose long top, fitted coat, and skin tight legging combo she had on. He looked rather imposing while she looked absurdly ordinary. She glanced down at her comfortable back boots, ones she hadn't even bothered to tie properly, and suddenly felt quite shabby. The darkfire in her hand flared, extending out her hand like a dagger. She didn't mean the boy harm, she was just ready to protect herself.
Frost came to the top of a small rise overlooking the crossroads. She looked around and spotted two figures down at the crossroads, Are they the ones i was supposed to find? she asked herself as she jogged down the hill towards them.
Piper had been on this stupid journey for weeks now. Why did I even agree to leave my cove? she thought angrily. So caught up in her thoughts, she didn't notice her walked across the famed crossroads, which she was supposedly meet others to go on an adventure with.
Mari strolled along the road, summoning little clouds and wisps of fog as she went. She was happy and carefree. She didn’t know where she was going, but she sure as hell wasn’t looking back.
Mariana came to a crossroads where two other people were just….standing. maybe these are the people i’m supposed to be looking for! she thought, vaguely remembering her preparation classes.
Once she got up on the hill, she got a glimpse of two people, one who was in a fighting position. Piper summoned a flow of dark water, keeping it low while she warily crept up the hill. She didn't want to fight, but would if she had to.
Frost reached the bottom of the hill shifting she padded low to the ground, headed toward the pair. Getting closer she noticed that one was a girl and the other a boy in strange robes. She could also feel the dark aura of the girl.
Jemi was slowly making her way to the crossroads where she could already see a few people there. They were gathered already, and Jemi knew she had to quicken her pace. She made her way to the crossroad and looked around at the people already there.
Mari made a peace sign. “Whats’ up my dudes”
Citra jumped. She hadn't notice anyone else walk up, but it seemed a small group had formed. She retreated a few steps, her blackflame sliding up her arm slowly. "Uh…Hey?" she said softly.
"Uhh- hey. How's it going for you?" Jemi asked. "I'm assuming you guys are the ones that I'm supposed to go on the journey with." she said, rolling her eyes.
Citra frowned, no one had told her about there being another people on her excursion. She shifted uncomfortably, her face devoid of emotion other than the flash of annoyance in her eyes. "Fabulous." she deadpanned.
Piper ran up the rest of the way to meet the others. She noticed how many people there were, and her water grew bigger, forming a border between her and the strangers. Piper was usually a friendly person, but she didn't know these people, and in the circumstance that she would go on a journey with them only raised the danger factor.
Mariana smiles. “So you must be the ones I’m supposed to find, huh? Well, should we do introductions?”
Zol put his staff down, yet still had it in a slightly defensive position. “My name is Zol. Elementalist of Light and Life.”

Frost shifted and stepped out of the bushes onto the road. Watching as the others made introductions. She wasnt shy or anything but she was wary, after all she was a bit of an outsider…
Artemis came out of a tree and sat at its trunk. She didnt really want to be alone but seeing so ma y new people made her anxiety heighten.
Zol raised his staff. He looked over in the direction of the two. “Come.”he said, “I swear by the God above I mean you no harm.”
Piper scoffed. "You think there is a god above?" she smiled menacingly, showing her too sharp teeth. "Ha. She resides in the ocean." The water around her darkened at the mention of Her.
Frost heard him, God? What does that mean? she thought to herself as she studied the others.
“Please do not quarrel over words meant to create comfort I pray you!”
Citra glanced between the two, eyebrows raised, her black flame sinking back into her skin. Did they not know that there are multiple gods? Male and Female? "I'm Citra. A flamist touched by dark." She bowed as was customary of her people.
Mari smiled and crossed her arms over her chest, a common greeting where she was from. “I’m Mariana, a child of water and sky.”
She conjured a small storm cloud to prove it.
