Josh peeked out from behind the flowers. "…really? I thought it was just annoying when I ramble…" Josh trailed off, tracing the rim of the flower pot with his finger. With a sudden though, he perked up. "C-can I tell you something?"

@mistress-0f-n0ne

She shook her head. "It isn't annoying a-at all!" she reassured him. Why would anyone think it was annoying? Who would be so rude to tell someone to stop talking about what they're passionate about? Ana quirked a brow up but nodded. "Um…s-sure…"

@Mish

Josh nodded, looking down at his feet he began to talk. "Sometimes…I don't even think I belong here. Sure, I may have powers–however useless they seem–but, I'm not like them, ya know? I don't have the big powers. I can't fly, I can't shoot laser beams out of my eyes, I can't even fight! Like…" Josh tugged on one of his jacket sleeves, revealing a scrawny little, pale arm, inside. "I'm not strong. I never have been. As much as they try to make me feel like I can be something, I'd rather just take my normal job back as a messenger. Running errands, like I used to. I felt useful then, being able to deliver messages to people across the city. I know most of these streets like the back of my hand, so I at least felt like I was doing something useful. Now…I'm on the 'Field-Agent' list. I'm not even useful during combat! Like, since when did some boy who can make flowers grow out of the ground whenever he's flustered be of any help?"

"Like those guys," Josh tilted his head over to Dani and Macha, "those guys have talent. Dani's one of our best field agents. I'm just a nobody next to her…." he trailed off.

"…I just kind of wish I didn't have powers," he spoke softly, with a slight hitch in his voice, gazing off at nothing.

@mistress-0f-n0ne

A small frown made its way to her face. It hurt…seeing someone else like this. Nobody deserved to think of themselves. Well, nobody but her anyways. They didn't deserve it, she did. "Hey…I mean…um…" she didn't really know how to comfort him. "Everything someone does helps one way or another…maybe…maybe you just…you just don't see how you're um…helping. N-Not everything happens instantly I mean…uh…um…" she was fiddling with the end of her shirt looking around. She was trying to be comforting, trying…Ana felt like she wasn't doing very well though. "I think…having powers are cool…I mean…look at me I don't have..a-anything…" She was the true nobody here. She was the useless one. "J-Just cause you a-aren't great at fighting..or…um…" Oh god just shut up. "I mean..you're…helpful…" she didn't know him that well, so she wasn't aware of what he could possibly do. "Sorry…I'm…I'm really bad at this…"

@Mish

Josh turned to Ana, wiping away at his eyes with his jacket sleeve. "No no. Don't apologize. That's my line." Josh laughed lightly. "Hey, you've got a power too, okay? Just cause, you don't have wings or something…Look, you've do have a power." Josh pointed to his face, which had a soft, endearing smile on it. "You made me smile."

A sudden color flooded Joshua's face and he buried his face behind the flower pot–which now had more than a few newcomers inside. "I'm so sorry that was so cheesy. I…I…"

Josh's shoulders started to shake, and then a small hitching sound came out. As he lifted his head, Josh was laughing, with a huge grin on his face. "That was so cheesy, oh. Oh gosh." He doubled over in laughter. Recovering slightly, he shot Ana a pure, genuine smile. "Thank you…sorry. I'm bad at this too."

(@TopazWyrmlet I totally ship Jana too! I'll add in a Blake POV now, I just gotta write it)

@mistress-0f-n0ne

What power could she possibly have? Was it something she couldn’t notice- oh… A small blush appeared on her face as she began to look very flustered. Her gaze sweeping around the room. Anywhere but him at the moment. “I…uh…um…” she couldn’t seem to make any words out at the moment. Her mind was stumbling over itself. She gave him a sheepish and shy smile. “Thanks…” it was cheesy. But sometimes cheesy was good…er…right? Ana wanted to bury her face in her hands but that would be rude wouldn’t it? Though her face felt like it was on fire as well.

@blue_topaz

(I'm shipping Sketer, Mace, and Jana so hard it's like shipping ships on top of ships stacked on top of other ships all being shipped across the great ocean of the smol fandoms on ships that are made for shipping)

@Mish

(Yayayomg it WORKED! I was so concerned that Ana was just gonna still be in a "self-deprecating" state. [Also, it's SO stressful for me to read Ana's inner monologue omg. As someone who is all too familiar with what she's going through, I just wanna reach through the computer screen, give her a hug, and tell her it's all gonna be okay. »~«])

Blake had no idea what time it was, but he decided he did like being underneath the stars. Not flying, of course, Commander Ryker would kill him if he admitted to like flying. Blake soared upwards to the top of a nearby apartment building and landed with a clumsy crash on the rooftop. After gathering himself, he looked around at his surroundings, trying to figure out where Josh had taken him. Blake scanned the ground. Ace could be skulking in any of these dark alleyways. But he also had the dragon to hide. How does someone even hide a dragon? The sound of a door opening behind up him sent Blake into battle mode, his hand reaching for his gun.

"Hello?" A little girl called out to him. She couldn't have been more than six.

"Shouldn't you be with your parents?" Blake was trying not to panic as he let the gun slide back into his holster. He was bad with little kids. They made him uncomfortable.

"Do you know where they are, mister?" She looked at him with bright, hope filled eyes. His heart sank a little in his chest.

"Uh, no… where did you last see them?" Blake's wings twitched nervously. He didn't like where this conversation was going. He had a mission to complete. He couldn't let himself get sidetracked like this.

"I've never seen them before. Mrs. Atticus says they aren't around anymore, but I saw you fly up here! So maybe you've seen them?" She pleaded. Blake's hands grew sweaty as a realization dawned on him. He hadn't landed on an apartment building. He landed on top of an orphanage. Blake shut his eyes for a moment and drew in a shaky breath. I can't just take the kid with me. That's kidnapping. Commander will find out.

"What's your name?" Blake asked, trying not to show any emotion. His heart felt like it was being wrenched out of his chest. He remembered being in this situation. Begging older recruits to find his parents.

"My name's Ryan, but all my friends call me Ruby!" She said cheerfully. The nickname made sense. The girl's hair was an unruly mess of curls, and vibrant ginger in color. The thought of her having friends made Blake feel better. At least she has support.

"Alright, Ruby. I'm a secret spy on a really important mission, but I'll keep a look out for your parents. If I can't find them, then someday you can come live with me. Does that sound okay?" No! No it doesn't! Blake was mentally screaming at himself. His heart was pounding in his chest. You can't even be a proper soldier! Let alone a father! How would you even raise a kid? Or support it?! Blake bit back a smile as the Ruby raced over to hug him, burying her small face into his feathers. It felt weird to be hugged. Blake couldn't even remember the last time he'd been hugged, but he did his best to respond adequately. "Go back to bed now. You shouldn't even be up this late." He pushed her away lightly, staring at the ground so she wouldn't see the tears welling up in his eyes. Soldiers don't feel, Thorfin. Commander Ryker's voice boomed in his head. Blake managed to straighten him self out as the little girl waved goodbye and crept back inside.

Blake sat down on the edge of the building and wrapped his wings around himself for comfort. That false promise would hurt the both of them, but it'd hurt Blake far more than Ruby.

(K, so everyone is on the common room of Dani’s apartment, except peter I think he’s in is room (?), and Sky is asleep in the room she shares with Macha. Maybe just read the story over a bunch of times idk)

@Lenered

Ace stared at the newcomer. He could barely make anyone out and he wondered how he hadn't noticed that he couldn't see things that well. The newcomer was adorable, and about the age his little brother would've been if he'd survived birth. And he smelled like ramen. Ace watched as Ana and Josh talked and she began to come out of her shell. He smiled, Ace'd never be able to even get near Ana without scaring her. He was a foot taller than her. "Dani, does the Citadel happen to have a department for glasses? And hello, new person. It's always great to see someone who isn't bleeding." Ace gestured to his shirt, that was supposed to be clean, but blood had already soaked through. He grinned, "Also, new person, you don't happen to have ramen on you, do you? I could smell it as soon as you came in the room."

@KalamariCakes

XD oh man. Sorry about not being on all day! Really bad migraine.. kinda off and on if i disappear again. My bad, folks! ))

Peter, once he was asleep, fell fast and hard into a dreamless slumber. He definitely needed the healing rest after their tumultuous adventures. Though perhaps it would have been at least a little respectful to fold in his wings before he fell asleep, since now the feathered giants were spread out haphazardly.

@Lenered

It's okay, your health is more important than the roleplay, and as much as the team cares about each other, we care about each other too.

@Lenered

Hey, we all have our downsides, at least you aren't living in a wooden shack in Alaska as part of an experiment for the government. Oh dear, I typed that out loud.
