Cyprus walked up to Jasmine, stopping directly in front of her. He leaned forward. "I would dare. My loyalties are to my host, not to scum like you." He took a step back. "Adieu!" He snapped his fingers and disappeared, leaving a faint outline of a creature that definitely wasn't Jay for a split second
Phoenix smiled softly with relief, both because of the disappearance of Not-Jay and knowing Addi trusted her.
"Good, 'cause this is gonna be weird."
She put her hands in front of her, forming a box with her fingers, as though imagining a photo angle.
Then she pulled her hands apart and as she did, a misty haze gathered in front of them, forming a swirling glowing portal.
What did I say about going anywhere, you ungrateful children? Cyprus's voice appeared in all of their minds
"That is weird."
Addison jumped. Ouch! Stopit you stupid ghost.
I wasn’t going anywhere. Lucille literally just sat down, she didn’t even bother anymore.
"Shut it, Ghost Boy," Phoenix spat, "You'll be able to find us easy enough, but we don't have time to wait around while darkness comes. You know that as well as I do."
She pulled Addi into the portal and gestured for the others to follow.
Jasmine runs at the portal.
Oh, right. Because you know exactly what to do when night falls. Have something to tell the others, or would you like to keep pretending?
I can hear you, you know. And I think that whatever she's hiding from us is better hidden. Addison defended her friend.

They emerged from the portal into a cave made of beautiful glowing crystals. In the corner, there was an alcove carved into the crystals, with a bed inside. Around the alcove were the remains of what likely used to be furniture.

It the cave Phoenix had taken them to, everyone was slouched against the walls. It had been a stressful few hours. All she could think of was the last thing Cyprus had said to her:
"Oh, right. Because you know exactly what to do when night falls. Have something to tell the others, or would you like to keep pretending?"
She closed her eyes tight and shook her head, trying to rid her mind of his echo.
She turned to her friend, who was hunched up with her eyes closed.
'Addi, are you ok?' she transmitted.
I will be. Addi returned, silently hoping that Phoenix had forgotten her past statements.
Hestia hated the fact that Cyprus was out there, waiting.
