Phoebe ‘accidentally’ brushed her hand against Elide’s when she took the sketchbook back, leaving her meal untouched as she gently flipped back to another page. A second drawing of Elide was bashfully shown, this one done more slowly, with jester stroked and better shading. In the drawing, she was depicted curled up in an armchair, mid-smile and in the process of getting up.
"When did you draw that one?" Elide asked, scooting a little closer to Phoebe so she could get a better look at the picture. She blushed a little at how well she was drawn.
“Two days ago, I think?” Phoebe glanced away, clearly nervous. “Do you like it?”
Elide nodded, "Phoebe, I love it," She smiled up at her, "I love you." She said quietly.
If they hadn’t been in the middle of a crowded cafeteria, Phoebe would have leaned in right then and there. She refrained, barely, whispering her reply. “I love you too..”
Elide smile grew a little before it dropped and she looked towards the ground saying quietly, "It- It would have been Luke's birthday tomorrow… I don't- I don't want to come into school but Giselle is making me…"
Phoebe glanced around before squeezing her hand tightly. “I’ll be with you the whole day. If there’s any way at all you can convince her to let you stay home, then that would be amazing, but if not, I’ll be right here.”
Elide nodded and squeezed her hand lightly back, "Thank-you, Phoebe… Tomorrow's going to be a long day, I just know it."
“It’ll be over before you know it,” she promised, turning as to better face her girlfriend.
"Hopefully, his birthday is always the longest day of the year for me. Only for a different reason now," Elide rubbed at her face, "Sorry, I'll stop talking now…"
"Don't worry about it," Phoebe assured her, laying a soothing hand on her shoulder. "It's fine."
Elide bit her lip, "Sorry… gosh I'm so British…"
Phoebe laughed lightly in an attempt to brighten the atmosphere. "You are, but I love it."
Elie blushed lightly, "If you didn't I'd be pretty confused because I'm amazing."
“That you are. Except not. Because you’re more than amazing.” Phoebe grinned happily.
Elide giggled, "I may be really amazing, but your way more amazing then me."
Phoebe shook her head, wholly disagreeing. "Nope. No way."
"Yes, yes you are and you are not going to win this argument." Elide raised an eyebrow.
"Well, neither are you. I'm pretty confident," Phoebe replied with a grin, though she meant every word.
"You are amazing and wonderful and better then me in most things and I am not changing my mind." Elide crossed her arms.
"I'm not changing my mind either," she countered playfully, mimicking the action. I'm none of those..
"Just accept that you are amazing otherwise you won't be getting kissed again." Elide grinned.
"What?! Not fair!" Phoebe's eyes widened in shock. "You're not allowed to do that!"
"Yes I am, and I just did," Elide said pulling out her phone, "Accept it, and you can kiss me again but until then, you can't."
Phoebe suddenly remembered that they were in a crowded cafeteria with people that could probably hear their conversation. "Uh– that's not fair– but– um– can we– have this conversation— you know what fine. I accept."
Elide grinned at her, "Good," She said simply, turning back to her phone and turning to Instagram.
Phoebe wished she could just lean forward and kiss Elide right there and then, in front of everyone. But she couldn’t. Not in a million years.
Elide sighed and leaned forward on the table, her mind running a million miles an hour but never focusing on one thing. She frowned a little.
“You good?” Phoebe leaned closer, brow creased with concern.
"Hm? Oh yeah, just thinking." Elide replied with a small smile.
