(skip?)
(Sure. To when?)
(that afternoon? or do you want to skip to tomorrow? or whenever her brother's coming)
(Let’s do the afternoon. Then they can have their dance.)
(oh yeah, almost forgot about that)
Barry hummed quietly as he sat on his bed, fingers trailing over the strings of a large guitar. Every few minutes he glanced at his phone, eagerly awaiting a text.
It was so busy in the cafe… Kasey didn’t even get off until it was almost half-past three.
With a sigh, she pulled her phone out as she walked to her car and sent Barry a quick text.
KASEY: I’m off. Heading home.
BARRY: Can’t wait <3. I miss you.
He grinned, continuing to strum on the guitar.
Kasey smiled wearily at her phone before she started to drive back. A few minutes later, she was putting her things in her room and then heading to Barry’s place. She knocked, smiling a bit as she waited.
Barry sprang up immediately, a huge grin on his face and the guitar in his hand as he opened the door. "Hey, sweetheart!"
“Hi, babe… Do you have coffee? I’m exhausted and forgot to get done from work,” Kasey said, giving him a sheepish smile.
Barry hugged her with one arm, tugging her into the room and shutting the door behind her. He set the guitar down on the bed, nodding. "Yeah sure, what kind?"
“Just… coffee…” Kasey sighed overdramatically, leaning into him. “I don’t care what kind.”
Barry chuckled, kissing her cheek before pulling away to open his cupboard.
(uh I don't know anything about coffee, I don't drink it.. so just skip to when it's done)
He handed her a steaming mug, giving her another kiss.
“Thanks, hun. This is much needed,” Kasey chuckled, kissing his cheek quickly.
"No problem." He grinned, bumping her shoulder with his. "And by the way.. You still owe me a dance."
“Oh, you remember that, do you?” Kasey laughed lightly.
Barry made a face akin to a grimace. “Unfortunately. But please?” His grimace transformed into a joking puppy face.
“Hm… All right,” Kasey agreed, reaching over to kiss his cheek. “But first, coffee.”
(Good morning!)
“Yes, coffee,” he agreed, plopping down on the bed and pulling his guitar into his lap.
(Morning~!
How’re you?)
Kasey sat down near him, far enough away that she wouldn’t get hit with a guitar string of it snapped. Lifting her cup to her lips, she hummed as the bitter taste of the coffee hit her tastebuds.
(I’m good, you?)
Barry’s fingers danced over the strings of the guitar, playing an absentminded melody. He hummed as he played, gazing over at Kasey.
(Good. I don’t want to go to work, though. Lol.)
Kasey smiled at him softly. “You’re good, babe,” she said before taking another sip of her drink.
(Oof)
Barry shrugged bashfully, the improvised melody flowing smoothly into ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’. “Thanks, I’ve been playing for a while.”
Kasey hummed the words to the song as she finished her coffee. When she was done, she started singing softly. Her voice wasn’t amazing, but she was pretty good.
To Barry, Kasey’s voice sounded beautiful. Music to his ears, literally and figuratively. He smiled, beginning to sing the man’s part.
Kasey looked over at Barry and grinned. If her voice was music to his ears, his voice was a symphony to hers.
(Aww)
Barry was grinning so widely he had to stop singing for a moment. His fingers kept playing, surprisingly delicate over the guitar strings.
Too soon, the song was over, but Kasey continued to him. “You have a great voice, Barr.”
Barry scratched at the nape of his neck, ducking his head. "Thanks, Kase," he mumbled. "You too, though."
“No, I don’t… I mean, I’m okay, but I’m not as good as you are,” Kasey said, blushing a bit.
