Olive passed by the Princess's window, looking up at it regretfully before continuing on. She'd been assigned a different post that morning, by the kitchens, and wouldn't see Myrah until the late afternoon.
Myrah bounced up and went to,the window. Only to not see Olive standing guard. She frowned slightly but her attention to the sky as she hadn't wanted to seem off. She walked away from the window and got ready for the day.
Olive was tense the whole day. How much had Mark seen, the other night?? How much had he told others?? Had she managed to convince him about her 'girl back at home'? Or were she and Myrah in danger now??
Myrah was wearing a simple pink dress, no frills or bows, though it did have multiple skirts. She took the pain staking time to,braid purple ribbons in her before leaving to her study. She couldn't decide whether to paint, mope, or play today.
The day wore on, painfully slow, and Olive had nothing to go on besides glances slightly longer than usual when she switched positions with a guard.
Oh god I need to be more careful. We need to be much more careful. Oh god.
Myrah had played, moped, and repeated it over and over again. She wondered if she would even see Olive today. Myrah hoped som
By the time lunch arrived Olive was a wreck– internally, of course. On the outside she was a vision of assured calm. When she finally got off on a break, she quickly made her way to Myrahs room.
Myrah had returned to her room after she had lunch. She was still a bit mopey and no amount of reading, playing, or painting could fix it.
“Princess,” she called up softly, biting her tongue. “Princess, I’m here.”
Myrah practically bolted to the window almost tripping over her dress a couple times. She didn't speak loudly as she returned an excited whisper, "Olive, you're here!"
A huge smile broke open Olive’s face. “Hi, Princess. Sorry- Sorry I wasn’t here this morning. I was stationed somewhere else.”
Myrah was beaming at Olive so glad to see her here, "That's fine! I'm glad you're here now!"
Olive grinned. “Me too, Princess, me too. How was your night?” She reached up a hand to brush Myrah’s elbow lightly.
Myrah reached down and grabbed Olive's hand. She let out a sigh, "It was peaceful. How was yours?"
“Good, except…..” She trailed off, biting her lip. “I heard some knights talking…..”
Myrah's smile fell slightly, they hadn't been caught had they, "About what?"
Olive’s stomach twisted. “One of the guys saw me with you, except he didn’t get a good look and thought you were a maid. I managed to convince them that I had a girl at home… I think.”
Myrah was now frowning heavily. Her face twisted with concern and worry, "I hope you did. Also how in the world did he mistake the very obvious princess for a maid? Maybe you were actually talking to one earlier in the day. Or at least it looked like it?"
Olive shook her head, brow creased with worry. “Matt isn’t… the most sober, he’s only still on the force because of his dad. His judgement isn’t the best either, and he was drunk when he told me.”
Myrah let out a long sigh. This wasn't good, at least the guards assumed Olive was a boy, "Is it against the rules for you to have relations at the palace?"
Olive took of her helmet, tugging her messy hair down from its bun and shaking it out with a sigh. "It's heavily frowned upon…. plus all the guys try to hunt down the girl you're with and eventually slip it to the General or a Higher Knight."
Myrah watched as Olive's hair fell down around her face. She still couldn't decide if the bun made her more attractive or not. The princess groaned and leaned on the edge, "Well that's not good….. Maybe we shouldn't talk for a while so it can blow over."]
Her heart tugged as she said the idea, but it did make the most sense.
Olive's heart plummeted, but she had been thinking the same thing. "Yeah, I guess that makes sense….. but what about night-time? Would anyone see us then?"
Myrah thought for a second and grinned, "No I don't suppose they would. Now I have to wait aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall day to see you. But it'll be for the best."
Olive took a moment to configure her lips into a playful pout, but ended up failing miserably since she had never actually done that before. "Yeah, hopefully this will all blow over soon."
Myrah giggled at the little pout Olive had tried to make, "I hope so soon. I don't know how long I can go without seeing you."
"Me neither…." Olive smiled up at Myrah, raking a hand through her hair to push it up out of her face and over the back of her head. "I've never felt like this before.."
The princess laughed nervously as she looked into Olive's pretty eyes. Her other hand started to play with a strand of her hair, "Neither have I."
"Not ever?" Olive sounded surprised. "But you must have met so many people… you never felt for any of them?"
