Kasey sighed and rubbed her head before holding her hand out for the painkillers without opening her eyes. “Fine… As long as he’s safe…”
Kasey sighed and rubbed her head before holding her hand out for the painkillers without opening her eyes. “Fine… As long as he’s safe…”
“He is,” He replied, grabbed the painkillers and placed them in her hand, “Can I have your real name, please?”
“Why do you need it?” Kasey asked wearily before tossing them into her mouth and chasing them down at a drink of water.
Kyle shrugged, doing a single spin in his seat, “I was hoping we could be friends. And friends know each other’s names.”
Kasey sighed and rubbed at her head again before finally opening her blue eyes and watching him carefully.
“Kasey. My name is Kasey,” she answered quietly.
Kyle smiled softly back, “Nice to meet you properly, Kasey. I’m a big fan.”
"Thanks, I guess…" Kasey mumbled, unsure of how to respond. "You're a newer hero? Or have I just not seen you around for some reason?"
“No, I’m fairly new. I moved a few weeks ago and have been keeping to the shadows…” He shrugged.
"Probably a good idea," Kasey murmured. The crime activity there was ridiculous, and she was wondering if she wouldn't be better off elsewhere… It didn't seem like she was helping anyone there, anyway. "What made you come here?"
“Needed a change in scenery,” Again, Kyle shrugged, staring out the window, “And something to keep me busy so here was the best option.”
Kasey sighed and laid back down, closing her eyes. “Any chance you know when Liam will be here?”
Kyle shook his head, "No, I don't know. Sorry. But I think it should be soon."
Kasey hummed in acknowledgment and lifted an arm to cover her eyes. Her head still hurt like crazy… When would it finally stop?
It wasn’t long after that until there was a knock on the door. Kyle stood and headed to see who it was and luckily, it was Liam. The two exchanged few words as Kyle took him to Kasey.
Kasey opened her eyes and sat up a little at the sound of voices and footsteps nearing her. At the sight of Liam, she sighed and stood up, slowly making her way over to him.
“I’m sorry,” she started quietly. “About earlier…”
Liam have her a worried look, “Don’t think about that right now. You need to lie down.”
“I was just laying down for goodness knows how long. And don’t tell me because I don’t really care right now… I just… I worry about you, okay? You’re always getting hurt because of me, and I hate it,” Kasey sighed, moving back to sit down.
Liam sighed and sat on the bed, “I know you worry, and I know you don’t like it. I don’t like it knowing my girlfriend is out there possibly getting hurt. I worry about you, too.”
“I can take care of myself, Liam.” Kasey demonstrated this by finding a pen and lifting it with her powers, spinning it around a few times before setting it back down. “And they always use you against me… You’re my weakness, Liam,” she whispered, glancing at him before resting her head on his shoulder and coding her eyes again. “I love you too much to actually let you go…”
Liam swallowed, wrapping an arm around her and kissing the top of her head, "Maybe you should… I can't… I can't be a weakness and drag you down. I know you just moved in and whatever but I can find a new apartment…"
Kasey frowned a little and buried her face in her hands, sighing shakily. “Is that what you want, though? Do you think that’s what’s best for us?” she asked in a small whisper, feeling her throat constricting as she fought back tears.
"Of course not. I never want to leave you, ever. You're everything to me, Kasey… but I'm dragging you down and you know that." He sighed through his nose.
“You’re not dragging me down, Liam,” Kasey said forcefully, looking up at him fiercely. “I love you. I love you so much it hurts, okay? I don’t want to let you go, but I don’t want you getting hurt because they know they can use you to get to me.”
"I know," He rested his forehead on hers, "I'd go through hell and back for you, I don't care if I get hurt it'll be worth it for you."
Kasey let out a shaky breath and leaned into him, wrapping her arms around his waist. She buried her face in his neck, murmuring, “Please don’t leave me. Please don’t let me do this alone. Keep yourself safe, but gosh… Please, please don’t leave me…”
Liam pulled her onto his lap, wrapping his arms tightly around her, "I won't. I'm not going to." He muttered.
"Thank you," Kasey whispered, feeling a few tears slip through. "…I love you, Liam…"
Liam smiled softly, kissing the top of Kasey's head, "I love you too, Kasey."
Kasey sighed softly, feeling herself relax as she was surrounded by the warmth of her boyfriend. "I'm so tired… I hate that it take so much out of me to do that," she murmured.
Liam nodded a little, "Do you want to go back to sleep, then? You'll need your energy."
