“Try saying that when someone you love is being choked and threatened with torture,” Kasey muttered to Frost, shooting him a quick look that was clearly filled with pain. She turned to Matt, the pain replaces with anger in a second. “Let him go, and maybe the police will be more lenient with you.”
"Hmm… not gonna happen." He paused an listened. There was a loud engine roaring before A van came speeding through the crowd of people. Luckily, most moved out the way. It skidded to a stop and the door opened, the men climbing in quickly, one pulling Liam with him.
“No!” Kasey gasped, miscellaneous items flying toward the van and the tires. Something sharp hit one of them, and it punctured it.
One of the men cursed and Liam took the opportunity to head butt the guy holding him. The guy in return kicked at him, then punched him. Matt had disappeared at this point, a couple of the men gone with him, too.
Kyle shot a few bursts of ice at the people who were left, restricting their movements and keeping them stuck to the ground, "Go get your boyfriend." He muttered to Kinesie.
Kinesie glanced at him out of the corner of her eye and nodded gratefully. She hurried over to the bus and slipped inside.
“Leave the man be, and I’ll make this easy for you,” she said as metal and rocks whirled around her.
While Kinesie was doing that, Kyle took the time to get the civilians to safety, making sure everything was okay with them before going to free the men he had frozen.
The guy holding Liam glared at Kasey but dropped him nonetheless, backing away after one final kick to Liam's stomach.
Kasey formed a wall around them with whatever she could find. She dropped to the ground beside him and wrapped her arms around him. A silent sob shook her body as she buried her face in his shoulder.
Liam wrapped his arms around her slowly, running a hand through her hair a minute later, "Hey… you did great babe, please don't cry."
“I can’t… He would have… It hurt to hear him talk about you like that,” Kasey choked out, curling up closer to him.
"I know, I know it did but you're going to stop him before he can hurt anybody else. I know you are," He held her close, never wanting to let go, "But I'm okay right now, that's all that matters."
“You’re okay… Yeah. You’re okay now…” Kasey breathed, pulling away and rubbing her face. An odd look crossed her face, and she scooted back from him a little. “And none of this happened to you before we were dating… It’s all my fault…”
"Don't you dare think like that," Liam grabbed her hands and squeezed them, "I'd go through hell and back for you. I don't care if Matt does what he said, it would be worth it for you. It's not your fault, it's Matt's for being a psychotic idiot!"
“But you wouldn’t even be in this mess if it wasn’t for me!” Kasey exclaimed, slipping her hands from his and standing up. She moved a few steps away, rubbing at her face as she breathed heavily. “You would be fine, living a normal life…”
Liam hurriedly stood, hiding a small wince, "I don't give a sh-t! Kasey, I love you more then anything in the world. I love you more then anything in this entire universe. You are my universe. Please don't ever think this is your fault, or you caused this. I don't want a normal life if it dodn't have you in it."
Kasey groaned and pressed her hands to the sides of her head, an intense headache starting to come on. She couldn’t deal with this right now. Her head hurt so bad…
“I can’t… I just— Liam,” she breathed, her eyes widening and meeting his before she collapsed.
Liam was at her side in an instant, catching her before she hit her head on the floor. He held her close and then the door opened and Kyle walked in. He scanned the space before his eyes landed on Kasey and Liam.
He sighed, "Let me take her. You can," He paused, not sure if this as the best idea but it was the only option they had, "You can come back to mine."
Liam nodded and Kyle took Kasey in his arms and picked her up, "I'll have to deal with the police but-"
"Here's my address, meet me there." Kyle said before he disappeared.
Liam rubbed at his face, stepping out of the van and trying to not slip on the ice Kyle left in his wake.
Kyle slid through the window of his apartment, heading to place Kinesie down on his bed. He sighed and went to change out of his suit, waiting for her to wake up.
Kasey twitched, still unconscious. Her breathing quickened for a few breaths, slowed for another few, and then quickened again. Her eyes moved under her eyelids rapidly.
And yet she didn’t wake.
Kyle grabbed some painkillers and a glass of water, placing them on the bedside table. He sat down at his desk, watching in case he needed to wake her up soon.
“Nonono…” Kasey moaned, her breath catching. A hand went to her throat and claws at it as if there was something constricting at her neck.
Kyle leaned over, removing her hand and gently shaking her shoulders, "Kinesie, wake up."
Kasey’s eyes flickered under her eyelids as she was shaken. She moaned again quietly and tried to roll out of his arms.
"Come on, you need to wake up." He muttered, shaking her a little harder then before.
Kasey’s breathed stopped for a few seconds before she took a deep breath and… didn’t wake up. Her eyelids fluttered some, butnit was still about a minute of shaking before she gasped and sat up quickly, her forehead nearly colliding with Frost’s.
Kyle stumbled back a few steps, "Finally, you're awake. How are you feeling? There's some water and pain killers if you want them." He gestured to the bedside table.
Kasey peered at him for a moment, her breathing heavy from the shock of being shaken awake.
“Who… Who are you? And where am I?” she asked breathlessly.
Kyle leaned back in his seat, "Kyle. Or as Matt referred to me, Frost," He gave her a two fingered salute, "Nice to meet you, Kinesie. And you're at my place. The safest place for you right now."
“Where’s Liam?”
Of course that was the next question out of her mouth. She wouldn’t have left his side if she had been conscious, not even after her earlier thoughts.
"Safe. He's on his way," He crossed his arms, "Take the painkillers."
“How do you know he’s safe? They could grab him again at any time. Is he alone?” Kasey questioned, sitting up slowly. Even that made her head spin, and she closed her eyes with a groan.
"He went with the paramedics and the police," Kyle sighed, "He'll be fine, Kinesie."
