Alvor hacked and coughed before throwing up. Upon closer inspection, Halo placed a hand to his mouth. "John… Look…" He whispers. Instead of puke, soft flower petals sat in the bucket. Halo looked at John and held Alvor gently, the small male sobbing and crying.
Marrow knocked on the door, sighing softly into the night. She knew Halo would only ever call her if it was an emergency… He sounded so panicked in the phone, she could only wonder what was happening until she saw it.
John stared at the petal, “But isn’t that…” He whispered, but trailed off before he finished the sentence. He’d only ever heard of something like this in story books. “It’s impossible.”
"I know…" Halo muttered softly before rushing towards the door when he heard Marrow knock. He opened the door and let her inside. She nods to John before looking at their son. "Oh my…"
“Thank you for coming,” John said as he saw Marrow. “I’m sorry we probably woke you, it’s just… our son…” John chewed his lower lip as he glanced anxiously at Alvor.
She nods and gently walks towards the boy and runs a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry… But he will need to be hospitalized…" She mutters and looks towards Halo. Halo's head bowed and he nods. "Is there anything… Is there a cure?" He whispers as he gazes at her. Marrow thinks for a moment before nodding. "Yes. But it's rare and the brew has to be precise…" She mutters.
“What can we do?” John asked, willing to do anything to help his son. He walked away only for a moment to grab a paper and pencil, “What’s in the brew? What ingredients can we get?”
She gently takes the paper and writes them down before handing it to Halo and John. "He has about four days, a week at most. You must hurry. It'll be dangerous." She states softly and sighs.
Alvor coughed again, whimpering and crying softly. Halo looked at his son then looked at John. "Pack the essentials, love." he mutters. "We need to get moving." He whispers.
John took a deep breath, then nodded, quickly going to grab two backpacks for them and food stores. He threw in a few sets of clothing and other essentials in each backpack. It’ll be okay, it’ll be okay, it’ll be okay… John reminded himself again and again. They had gone through worse. They could make it through this.
Halo thanked Marrow who took Alvor to the hospital, kissing his forehead gently. Alvor was frightened, and he didn't want to leave his fathers grasp, but he allowed himself to be taken to the hospital. The moment Halo shut the door, he took a deep breath and sighed softly.
John grabbed both backpacks, but stopped to grab a few herbs from their stores, just in case one of them got scraped or cut and they needed it for an emergency. He brought both backpacks, equipped with clothing, water jugs, and food stores, to Halo. “He’s going to be okay.” Right? He left the last word unspoken.
Halo looked at the other with determination and nods. "He'll be fine. Let's get going." Halo walked out into the cold night, and unfurled his huge black wings. "We need to act quick." He begins to fly into the air, waiting for John to follow.
John followed Halo out, closing the door behind them. He jumped into the sky, taking in a deep breath of the night air. “Where are we going first?” John asked over the wind.
"We need to go to the western mountain. We'll find most of the stuff." He replies over the wind as he flies.
John nodded and flapped his wings a little bit harder, wishing they could already be there. But at least Alvor was in good hands. He would be okay, they’d all be okay.
Halo flew beside the other and sighed as he looked at the list before carefully tucking it into his bag. "It'll be a few more hours of solid flying. But we'll be there soon."
After a while -an eternity- of flying, John was relieved when they made it to the western mountain. “We’ll be home before we know it,” John reassured himself under his breath before looking to Halo.
He took a deep breath as he looked around and sighed as he shook his head. "I hope so." he replies as he tries to calm himself down.
John was chewing on his lip when his feet connected to the ground. “So what first?” He asked as he wrung his hands. Hopefully it’d just be herbs to collect, hopefully just something simple.
He sighed softly. "Moon dew. It should be around here somewhere…" he mutters softly, scratching the back of his head.
John began wandering a little, paranoid that his eyes would miss something as he scanned the area. They needed to be quick, so they could get back to Alvor and they could all be safe and sound. Just hold on, Alvor… John prayed silently, but he knew their son was in good care. Everything will be okay.
I'm back, sorry about that.//
