"Ah, yes. I remember when I was pregnant with you and your brother. I was always cleaning throughout my third trimester," the queen chuckled. "It was a lot of work, and everything had to be perfect. Otherwise, I'd just cry about it."
"That's how I feel!" Lilah laughed. "Just this morning, I almost didn't get a stain out of the counter, and I wanted to cry. Thankfully, I had Cameron, though. He's been such a help." She turned to smile at her husband as she spoke.
Cameron laughed softly, smiling warmly at the two women beside him. They were so alike, it made Cameron gave a deep sigh of relief. He looked to Lilah when she spoke about him. He smiled happily and set a hand on hers, squeezing it gently.
Lilah turned her hand in his so she could squeeze it back gratefully.
"Of course… Your father tried to help me, but he just ended up making a bigger mess most of the time, so he stayed out of my way," the queen said softly, her face softening at the memory. "He was so excited about it…"
Cameron glanced at the queen. The way she was describing the king, it made him sound nice and understanding. Cameron shook himself. He needed to stop thinking rude things of Lilah’s father.
"He misses you, you know," she said softly, glancing up at her daughter.
Lilah sighed and looked away, tightening her grip on Cameron's hand slightly. "I'm sure he does… But I'm not ready to see him, so please don't try to convince me."
Cameron squeezed her hand back. He had a distinct feeling of happiness in his chest. She had chosen him over her family. He couldn’t keep a tiny smile off of his face.
The queen sighed and nodded slowly. "I know. And I won't. You'll see him in your own time…" If that time ever happens…
"Exactly. Thank you," Lilah said softly.
Cameron squeezed her hand again. She’s so brave. And bold. He loved how demanding she was of others.
(Ah… Can we skip? Idk what to have them talk about anymore…)
"So… Any tips? Tricks?" Lilah asked, smiling at her mother again.
(Oh sure! I wasn’t sure if you wanted to have them do anything else. To when?)
(Lol. Nope. I've gone through most of my pregnancy knowledge. ;P
Um… After another 1-3 months? They could have a labor scare… Thinking she's going into labor early or something…)
(OH no. Nonono Cameron would probably cry lmao. Could we go post-birth?)
(Sure. Lol.
But it's your turn to start! #NotIt )
Cameron was curled up in a chair, hugging himself with his chin on his knees. It had been more than a day since Lilah had gone into labor. He was afriad for her and the baby. He wanted to know what was going on, but couldn’t bring himself to get up and go ask.
"Mr. Metzler?" a nurse called, stepping into the waiting room. She glanced around, looking for Cameron.
Cameron burst up to his feet the moment his name was called. “Yes?” He asked briskly, his hair fluffed out.
The nurse smiled. "You may come see your wife, now. You have a healthy baby boy."
Cameron relaxed immediately, a smile spreading across his broad face. “Thank goodness.” He walked over to the nurse. “Is she okay? Are they both okay?”
"They're both very healthy and happy that it's over with," the nurse chuckled as she led him to the room.
Cameron laughed softly with the nurse. “Make that a third.”
(Who plays the smol?)
(We both could? Or I just could? Up to you.)
The nurse chuckled again. She stopped at a door and knocked before pushing it open a crack. "Lilah? Your husband is here."
Lilah's face would have lit up if she wasn't already glowing. She beamed at the nurse and nodded. "Send him in, please," she said in a soft, tired voice.
Cameron thanked the nurse softly, pushing open the door and walking in. The nurse shut it behind him as he crossed the room, smiling at her.
He sat at her bedside, grabbing her clammy hands. “Hi Lilah.” He kissed her forehead intently. “How are you feeling?”
"Exhausted," Lilah breathed, her voice holding a slight laugh. "But incredibly happy. Cameron… We have a son!"
Cameron squeezed her hand. “I know,” He whispered back, smiling widely. “It’s wonderful. Where is he?”
"They were cleaning him off a bit, I think, and then checking his vitals," Lilah answered right before a nurse stepped into the room with a small bundle of light blue blanket. Lilah grinned at the sight and reached her arms out to her new son, and he was quickly handed over to her. A few happy tears ran down her face as she gently kissed his forehead, then looked up at Cameron. "He has your eyes…"
Cameron hastily laid back, wrapping his arms around the pair, looking into the bundle. He had a round soft face and his tiny hands were tightened into fists. He had a soft poof of dark hair.
“He’s beautiful,” He whispered softly, his eyes moving across the small copy of himself and Lilah.
Lilah silently nodded her agreement as she bent down to kiss her son's nose. "He's perfect… Cam, do you remember when we were talking about baby names? How I wanted to name him Tobias, after you?"
Cameron gently rubbed Lilah’s shoulders, smiling and leaning into her. “Tobias?” He sounded confused and put-off. “Why? Why not Nathan or Charlie?”
