(That makes sense, but do the police know the freelancers identities because I feel most freelancers wouldn't want their secret identities in the hands of the police)
(Also, what do y'all think of the name Frozenstar for Sol's freelancer name because she freezes time)
What about Kronos?//
Since the last of what Florence had said, she had remained quiet, scrolling through the news and drinking her coffee. Easton had since taken to listening to the conversations of others, managing to focus on the background noise as well as the conversation that a couple of girls were having a few tables over from him and Florence. Finally, the topic of villains and freelancers had come up between the two. After a few back-and-forths, Easton looked over once the latest comment had been made. On one side of the table was a brown-haired girl, which had been the one that said, "But I'll probably never get the chance to do anything that really matters to help this place."
At that, Easton hopped up out of his seat, regretting moving so quickly since a few feathers were plucked from his wings by the chair backing. "Hey! Sorry for eavesdropping, but I heard what you were saying about freelancing and I actually have a license." Easton said, speaking somewhat quickly. From his back pocket, he pulled a square card and put it down on the table. The card was white and had, in bold lettering, the word Referral printed on it. Across the bottom was a signature that read Easton Flores and the back was covered by a barcode.
"This is a referral card, and if you take it to the police station they'll verify it and give you a temporary license until I talk to them about it." He added, looking up from the card. For a moment he waited for a response, Did I scare her?
(Well, with the licenses, the police would have to at least have a name. So I'd imagine the hidden identities would be more for safety in their normal lives and so they didn't get mobbed by people in public.)
And Lex, is Heath still behind the counter at the cafe?))
Yup!//
(I feel like Arryn shouldn't be seeing her get told to do this stuff, so maybe she should go to the bathroom, for the sake of story?)
Sol studied the man. He had grey-blue hair and wings on his back, she might've recognized him, but wasn't sure. Easton Flores… "What have you done so far?"
Noticing that her friend was up and talking to someone else, Florence took the opportunity to slip away as well. Soon, she was at the counter, flashing the same toothy smile that she usually wore. She looked at the man behind the counter. "Were you at the bus-stop earlier today?" She asked, narrowing her eyes a bit. Any normal person would think that her eyes were bad by the way she had squinted at the stranger for a few seconds. I'm almost positive that's him. she thought, happy with herself now that she had gotten a good look at the stranger.
"Yup, I'm the owner of this place and had some time to kill!" He said cheerfully, returning the toothy grin that the woman had given him. There was no way that she would guess that he's a villain, after all, he has a full face mask and barely talks when he does his villainy.
"Money, power, respect." Sol listed them on her fingers, "Spite, revenge, boredom, mental illnesses, and some more."
(And extra credit. :D)
For a few seconds, Easton hesitated to begin speaking again. Maybe I shouldn't blurt all of this out in front of her friend? "Can I pull you aside for a second?" He asked, glancing over to the person that sat on her other side of the round table.
Florence scooted over to the side, making sure that she wasn't blocking the line in case any customers were to appear. Well, it's not gonna hurt if it isn't him. In that case, I'll just walk away, I get weird looks from most anyway. Florence thought, before speaking. "Every time I've seen you, you've had a mask on. A flashy one with a smiley face, right?" As she spoke, Florence leaned to the left and pushed the corners of her mouth into a smile with her index fingers; her hair almost touched the ground once she had stopped, though it wasn't that far from it, to begin with.
Heath shook his head. "No, I'm afraid you have the wrong person." He says, a small smile of pity on his face. Internally though, internally he was freaking out. How? How did this random person find out? He kept all of his thoughts inside him. "Would you like a freshly baked cookie though?" He asked the woman politely if she did anything strange he was able to kick her out of his cafe.
"Um, sure?" Sol left her coffee at the table, but kept her book clutched in her hands. "Be back in a minute," She said to Arryn and followed the man in front of her.
Florence hummed and straightened herself out, putting her hands in the pockets of her shorts. It's only natural that he wouldn't admit to it. She thought, slightly doubtful of her suspicion, but still convinced that she had the right person. "I guess I do, but no thanks, I've got something back at my table." She said, giving a small wave before walking back over to her and Easton's table a few feet from the large windows that were in the front. I'll have to remember that, she thought, for the next time I see him elsewhere.
Easton walked off to a place near the main entrance to the cafe, stopping, he made sure they were out of the way before continuing to speak. "I just didn't think it would be the best idea to keep talking with your friend around, no matter how trustworthy she is. I'd prefer if a minimum amount of people knew the specifics." He said, pausing before pulling out yet another card from his pockets. This time, it was his license which held a headshot of him in what he wore while he was working. What was visible from the picture was the collar of the black top that he wore, and the guard he kept on the lower half of his face. "So far -along with a few others- I've handled…" Easton paused, "A few bank robberies and hostage situations, and two shootings."
He held up the card in his right hand, turning it over so that the other could see it.
(Sorry that my replies are taking so long!)
(I want Sol to recognize him, so what's his freelancer name?)
(I've been trying to think of one since the beginning of this rp….But I guess for now I'll just use Blue Jay. I might end up changing it, though.)
(Btw I don't normally get on Notebook.ai until 4:00 each day so would you guys mind not moving the story along too far before I even have the chance to read anything?)
(k thx)
Yeah, I'll make sure that things don't move too far ahead before you're on as well. Usually, I'm on for about twenty minutes at a time until around 4:00 PM because of school, but right now I'm on a week-long break.))
Sol squinted at the card trying to remember him. "OH! Oh shit, you're um, you're…" she snapped her fingers trying to remember, "Blue Jay! That's what it was! I watched the one at Banner Bank live. You really helped a lot of people." She said, somewhat in awe. "And you were giving me a referral? You don't even know me!"
(It's 4:00 pm PST)
(Sol's freelancer name is now Lacuna)
This is going to be my last reply for tonight, since it is 3:20 AM where I live. Tomorrow I'll be on starting at about 11:00 AM Eastern time.))
Putting the card back into his pocket, Easton looked back over to Sol. "Well, by the way you were talking I figured it'd be a good idea to at least give you a chance. And having a license, you'll be able to do a lot more, especially with your ability." Easton paused, and then began speaking as if he'd forgotten something. "But until you can get a little more experience, if you see something serious happening it would be best to wait until a few others have gotten there as well. I might be able to bring you along for some small things in the beginning–what's your name? I forgot to ask earlier."
SAME KOFFEE! BUT I DON'T SLEEP! HHAHAHAHAHA///
Lacuna's a good name! But I'm getting off of here for tonight, mostly because it's late and if I keep posting replies I'm going to start sounding like I'm severely mentally challenged…Trust me, nothing would make sense…))
"My name is Sol. My last name is McNeil. If we're going to be talking about and/or doing freelancer stuff then can I get your number?" Sol asked. She couldn't believe she was actually being given a shot! She knew the work was dangerous, but her will to help people overpowered her fear.
(Still got school so I'll talk to y'all at like 7:00pm for you tomorrow. Or today, rather. Don't do too much stuff without me.)
(Sorry But I changed my mind. I think I’m in way to many rps at the moment and you guys are really fast. Sorry.)
may i join??)
