"Thanks the gods this time we have proof and don't have to deal with stubborn elders refusing to hear our message," Aurelius said bitterly, "So many innocents lost their lives… It didn't have to happen that way… Even had we upped defenses a little, we may have been able to save most of the village."
I have a kind of bad gut feeling though… I don't doubt that there are villages left… I just think that they've already initiated quite a few attacks.
I have to agree, I think there are many villages that have been burned down. Riven was sure that the last village wasn't the last and that many more are probably gone by now as well. "We have to find Mara, without her Riven might start to get aggressive." Dragons that are already bonded with some and they are not around, that was never a good sign.
"I know… I have a feeling there's a reason they're after her, too. I know what it's like when a dragon loses their human too… It's never a good thing."
Nox lifted her head up a little. I see a glow ahead… I can't tell whether they're lights or fire, or something else… Is that the village?
"We should be close," Pollux answered, "but let's get a good idea of what's happening before we go in."

(Uhhh actually I'm trying to decide… I think it would be a cool loop back around to Valkyrie and Zander's interaction, but also I want them to find people… So y'all can decide if you want.)

Pollux could see from where he was perched that this was a brighter light than gas street lamps and other little lights typical of a village. His heart suddenly started racing a little.
"Turn around. Turn around right now!" he shouted frantically to anyone who would listen.
"What's happening? Pollux!" Farron flew towards the guy, barely being able to hear what he was saying at the distance he was previously at. That was before he saw the brighter light and flew in place.
"We have to go!" he continued, "We could try to save people if we really wanted, but I don't think our party is in very good condition at all. You know there are villages scattered… we just have to keep searching…"
Nox pulled to the side hard as she took in what was going on. He's right. There's no way we're going down there.
Farron cursed under his breath, "Great, just our luck isn't it?"
Aurelius' gaze was set upon the burning village below and he was mortified. "Nox…? I'm going to need you to call the shots until I can um… collect myself…"
The black dragon agreed. I already told you I'm not going down there. The first decision has already been made. As for where we go next, I'm not sure. Someone else will have to tell me.
"There are more," Pollux said, "Especially if we go east. I've been to quite a few of them. There's a very well-hidden one in a valley. Let's make sure we're not being followed and press on, yeah?"
Quincy frowned, Jade and the dragons were the only thing keeping her from going down and trying to help. She wanted to help them so badly.
As Zuriel flew over the village, Mavrus kept Telara's eyes closed and he did his best to cover her ears. Arioch muttered to himself "What would drive a person to do this?" I'm not sure… Zuriel sighed hopelessly
"Why…? Why did Valkyrie join this cause?" Aurelius whispered, burying his head in Nox's neck.
She stayed mostly silent and kept flying the other direction, where Pollux had indicated.
(I'm so sorry, with Christmas being close and all I've been super busy.) Riven knew he would be the only one to actually see what was going on down in the village. And what he saw was like something from a nightmare. Dead bodies everywhere, but made it worse was that the dragons that lost their owners were the one destroying everything. Burning down the house killing the rest of the towns people. In Riven's mind he wanted to help but with his injuries there was nothing he could do. Don't look back. was all he could say as he ran through that village with everything he had left in him, because if he got caught up in a fight right now, he would lose.
(I understand. It's about to be finals week for me, and I shouldn't even be here, sooooo…)
"Riven!" Pollux shouted down, "Don't worry, we're changing course!"

Riven immediately turned around and started running after everyone else. Some of Zander's sidekicks walked in the room and Zander sighed a breath of relief. "Take her to the prison. I need to take to Valkyrie." Without words they did what he said. Mara was kicking and screaming trying to get away, but nothing worked so she gave up. "Valkyrie, my number one. How did the job go?"
(Mara was captured. Aurelius did the ritual speaking to the dead, but didn't learn a whole lot. They've tried to go to the next closest village, only to find it burning, too. Now, they're wandering around, hoping they can find somewhere safe to stay.)
Valkyrie turned back to Zander. "No one lived that we're aware of. We picked off every last thing that moved… It was bloody, to say the least. Some of the worst I've seen."
Valhalla grumbled, Is that a sign of weakness I'm seeing?
"Shut up, Valhalla. I'm not… I don't care… I just want them gone."
(Maybe they find an underground cavern and stay there?)
(Maybe so. And there are some other refugees from some of the villages hiding there too.)
