“At least one of us has enough self confidence and compassion…” Aniña muttered, sighing a little, “How do you do it? Be able to… to love yourself?” She knew it was a sad thing to ask but maybe Sequoia could help her.

Sequoia shrugged, trying to figure out how exactly she did it. Most of the time, she didn't- she just threw on a happy mask so people wouldn't bug her and went about her day. But if Aniña wanted to know, she was going to know, no matter Sequoia's lack of experience. "Well, if I'm honest I don't. I'm usually comparing myself to people, I just know how to keep myself from spiraling. Most of the time, anyway. Whenever I feel myself beginning to slip, I try to point out the things that are good about myself. I like my hair, I like my eyes. I'm smart and I know how to do some pretty cool magic."

“But what if… what if you can’t see what’s good in yourself?” Gods Aniña was asking too many saddening questions. Too many and there were way too many emotions coursing through her.

Well, that was sad- even sadder than asking how to love yourself- but Sequoia still wanted to help. Still needed to help because that was her wife and she loved her. "Everyone has good in them Habibi, but if you can't think of any you can try downplaying your flaws. Sure, I may be annoying, but people still stick around me, so I can't be too bad. Y'know?"

@ElderGod-Carrots

Aniña was silent for a few moments, thinking over everything that Sequoia had said to her. She was right, as always. Even though it might take time she could do what er wife suggested. Eventually, she nodded, “Yeah. Yeah okay. Thank-you,”

Sequoia nodded, happily kissing Aniña with a small smile. Even if Aniña couldn't put everything into place right now, she could work towards getting better. And Sequoia would be here every step of the way. "Of course. I'm here for you if you ever need help."

@ElderGod-Carrots

Aniña blushed at her words, a warmth spreading through her body that she only felt when she was around Sequoia and she smiled, “And I you.” She pressed a soft, delicate kiss to her wife’s lips.

Butterflies fluttered in Sequoia's stomach as she leaned into her wife. She'd hugged and cuddled before, but somehow being with Aniña just felt better. It made her feel special. If there was one thing she craved, it was beings special to someone. "Promise?"

@ElderGod-Carrots

“Promise.” Aniña smiled warmly at Sequoia and locked their pinky fingers together. She knew it was childish but she couldn’t help it. It was one thing she had to keep doing even though she was an adult and she she didn’t quite know why.

Sequoia grinned at her, butterflies transitioning from light fluttering to a full-on riot in her belly. She didn't blame them, Aniña was incredibly adorable. "What's the date? We can celebrate today as the 'I love you' and 'First promise' anniversaries later. "

@ElderGod-Carrots

“I don’t know. We’ll check later,” Aniña her blush deepening at the way Sequoia was looking at her, “What are you grinning at?” She asked quietly, letting her picky finger drop from her wife’s.

"You." Sequoia grinned even harder, burrowing into her wife's side with a smile. "You're very adorable." It was nice to see Aniña happy and blushy and calm.

Sequoia laughed as Aniña flushed even darker, pressing a gentle kiss to her lips with a quiet "You absolutely are." After a few minutes, she pulled away, bopping her wife on the nose. "Don't even deny it. I'm willing to argue over this."

@ElderGod-Carrots

Aniña frowned a little and muttered something about Sequoia being absolutely wrong but didn’t say anything else, “Fine. Whatever you say Liran, whatever you say.”

"Hah! You are cute." Sequoia planted a kiss to Aniña's cheek in victory, grinning smugly all the while. In the back of her mind, she began plotting different ways to make her wife see all the good inside her, but for now, Sequoia was happy to kiss and tease and let a good mood slither into the room. Her stomach gave a hungry rumble, starling her into a new line of though. "Wanna go downstairs and grab some breakfast? I feel like I haven't eaten in forever."

@ElderGod-Carrots

Aniña chuckled, “Me too. Think it’ll be up to your standards this time?” She teased, climbing out of the bed with a small smirk towards her wife. Although she really did hope that Sequoia would be fine with the food, remember what happened the first time they arrived.

"Maybe. Just so you know, I was acting like a bit of a snob when we first ate together. I actually really like pastries." Sequoia smiled earnestly at Aniña as she rolled out of bed looking a mess, hair mussed and clothes wrinkled. It was exactly what she deserved for not changing into some night clothes before she fell asleep.

@ElderGod-Carrots

“I know I know. I was just teasing.” Aniña smiled back at her with a small giggle before walking over and taking Sequoia’s hand in hers and placing a kiss to the back of it, “Shall we eat?”

Deleted user

Sequoia grinned, pulling Aniña's hand up to plant a few quick kisses to her knuckles. "I know. I just want to apologize again. I was a real asshole at the beginning. And I think we shall. What kind of food are we going to eat?"

@ElderGod-Carrots

Aniña shrugged, “Pasteries I think. Maybe some fresh fruit.” She sighed and gave Sequoia a small smile before they headed out the room and towards the dining hall. In all honesty Aniña wasn’t that hungry and didn’t feel like eating but if Sequoia was hungry then she’d eat with her.

Sequoia was drooling as the smell of freshly baked pastries reached her nose, and she practically dragged Aniña into the dining room where a beautiful array of sweet breakfast pastries were sitting. She gobbled up a pastry before she even thought about it. "Yup. Very tasty pastries."

@ElderGod-Carrots

Aniña cracked a side smile at her wife before sitting down at one of the chairs with a small sigh, “I’m glad you like them.” Her stomach made a small noise and she reluctantly, grabbed a small apple that sat next to the pasteries and took a bite.

Sequoia munched a few more pastries before she noticed that Aniña wasn't eating anything. Just a small shiny apple that couldn't be filling. "Don't let me slow you down, Habibi. Help yourself."

@ElderGod-Carrots

Aniña was drawn out of her thoughts when Sequoia spoke and she gave her wife a small smile, “I will. I’m not that hungry right now but I might have something more in a little while.”

Sequoia piled as many pastries as would fit onto one of the plates she found on the side of the table and sat next to Aniña. "If you say so. Just so you know, if you don't eat by the end of the day, I'm going to bring this up again. Okay."

@ElderGod-Carrots

Aniña didn’t respond for a few moments but eventually nodded, “Yeah. Okay. Got it.” She swallowed and cough before taking a few more bites of the apple in her hand, releasing a breath through her nose.

"Good!" Now that the issue had been discussed, Sequoia dug into her sugary sweet breakfast with gusto. She really needed to find the recipe for these so she could eat them at Aniña's palace because they were absolutely delicious. "What do you wanna do today?"

@ElderGod-Carrots

Aniña shrugged and took an nother bite of her apple, “We could always go into the village? See what’s around there. I heard they had a market on that might have something interesting things to sell.”

(Last post of the night, I'm afraid. Sleep well)

That sounded like an excellent idea, and Sequoia made sure to tell her wife so. "That sounds super fun! I've been wanting to go there since we came here." One of her former servants had told her that this was her hometown and that the local market was excellent. Sequoia was dying to shop there.
