I have a character in a wheelchair in one of my stories (she lost part of her left leg in an explosion) but she's more than just "That chick in a wheelchair", ya know? She does have to adjust a bit and she eventually gets a prostetic leg but it's still difficult for her.
Characters with actual disabilities, not just a wheelchair. I saw a kid at this summer camp with some sort of something, CP maybe, and I barely knew him, but he was such a cool guy.
out of my mind is a good book for examples
Oh yeah that is a good book!
So basically, what I'm seeing people suggesting the most are
- More/better representation for minority/lgbtq/disabled people
- Fewer stories revolving around Romance; or least better written ones
- stories taking place outside the U.S
- Better written Female characters
These are all great suggestions! Many of them are things I've been wanting to incorporate into my stories too! Please, kep them coming.
One thing though which is something of an unsolvable dilemma, is that you should not put a girl/black dude/etc. just because. Then you are treating them differently because of that.
anyone know any good books with poly relationships? preferably ones that don't have sex as the main thing with the poly relationship? like i want something where its just 3+ people dating and being all cute, not something that's super sexualized
