Zahra laughed out loud. "How can you be afraid of crocodiles? They are adorable." She once again went to draw her knees up, and thats when she realized her dress was soaked. Zahra let out an irritated sigh, before resting her chin onto her knees, staring out onto the desert. "So…do you have a family?"
"Wait untill you see one kill a goat." Aziza leaned back on his hands, "yeah I've got a family. Well kinda. How about you?" He glanced over at her, noticing how perfect she seemed sitting there. The sun making her skin look as if it was glowing, how her eyes seemed to pierce through all the other colors.
"No. My parents passed when i was little." The tone in her voice indicated that it didnt bother her. Glancing at him from the corner of her eye, she couldnt help but stare. His dark eyes seemed to pull her in and send chills over her body, her gaze drifted to his lips before she mentally scolded herself and looked away. Trying to keep her mind occupied, she focused back to the topic. "What do you mean you 'kind of' have a family?"
Aziza pulled his gaze away from her when she cought him staring, an awkward pink coming to his face once again. "Well I've got a little sister. But besides that, I've never really known my family." He shrugged before turning his attention back to her other comment, "how'd they die? I- if you don't mind me asking that is."
Her shoulders shrugged slightly. "They became ill. To be honest, even though i had them for a short time, i never really knew them." A soft, yet wide smile spread across her face, finding its way even to her eyes. "A little sister? I bet shes just as charming. Whats her name?"
"Charming?" Aziza raised and eyebrow. "But her name is Nane. Would you like to meet her? She's usually home around this time." He shrugged and sat up slightly. "Though I wouldn't call her charming." He said with a small laugh.
Zahra realized what she had said and a deep red covered her cheeks. "W-well…you are quite nice." 'and good looking…..dear gods stop it Zahra!' She bit at her bottom lip, "I'd love to! But i do not wish to impose. if you two have chores and such, i dont want to keep you from your duties."
Oh please, impose all you'd like. Aziza quickly shook his thoughts. "We wouldn't mind, and there's not much to do this late in the day. Most things happen in the early morning. But I should probably relieve my sister from watching the goats."
(PFFFFFFthatsgreatlol)
She laughed slightly "We definitely dont need her angry with you for leaving her all alone with goats." Zahra smiled "Well, as long as it is okay with you, then id love to meet your sister." She gathered her hair to one side and moved to stand up. Brushing the sand off her dress, she offered a hand to Aziza. "Let us get going to your house then."
Aziza excepted her hand and stood, "just be warned, Nane is," he took a moment to think of the right words, "excitable?" He laughed and began walking at a slow-ish pace. "And the goats. I do believe they are also very excitable. Be ready for a bunch of questions."
Zahra walked close to him and smiled warmly. Something about the way he talked about his family made her all warm and fuzzy. "What kind of questions should i expect? Personal ones like yours earlier?" Zahra grinned mischievously, poking fun at her new friend. "I am just joking. im an open book to the both of you." 'for the most part' Zahra knew there were some things she couldnt tell anyone, but aside from that, she would gladly tell them anything else.
"Oh sorry about that." Aziza rubbed the back of his neck with a small smile. "What kind of questions? Oh, only the gods know what she will blurt out. I'm apologizeing in advance." He laughed again.
It didn't take long to get to his house, which wasn't necacerly big. But was indeed out of the way of most other houses that seemed almost on top of each other.
"There you are Aziza!" A female voice, which was most likely his sister, shouted.
Zahra made sure to let Aziza enter first. She stayed just outside of the doorway, waiting for the approval to come in. After all, she has witness a few of Tiyes rants whenever Amenhotep arrived later than expected. Those were always amusing, a small little woman chewing out a man MUCH taller than her, and yet he was always the one cowering. Zahra couldnt help but chuckle as she imagined Aziza in a similar situation with his sister.
"Yes yes I'm home!" Aziza shouted back before turning to Zahra, "come in." More incoherent shouts came from out side but Aziza ignored them. "Don't mind Nane." He offered an apologetic slime. "Nane! The goats will be fine for a few minutes come in here!"
A girl that seemed rather beautyful marched in, but it was obvious she was what one would consider, "wild."
Zahra smiled sympathetically "Trust me, ive heard worse." Her smile only grew wider as she listened to them bicker. The wild, young girl only made her even happier, since she reminded Zahra of herself when she was young. Zahra bowed slightly, paying her respects. "You must be Nane. You're brother has told me a little bit about you. Its a pleasure." Zahra stood straight once again and smiled to Nane.
Nane's jaw dropped and she looked between Aziza and Zahra before raising questioning eyebrows at her brother. "Stop." Aziza said while rolling his eyes. "This is Zahra, she's a friend?" He looked over at Zahra for aprovel of the word he used.
"Uh-huh. Hi I'm Nane. But apparently you already know. Are you to together? Did he finally find someone he fancies? And that fancies him back? Why did no body tell me this?"
Zahra couldnt help but burst out into laughter, actually snorting a few times. "I'm so sorry." She continued her fit. After a few more snorts, Zahra managed to calm herself down. "i'm SO sorry about that. it completely caught me off guard. Your brother and i are…just friends." For some odd reason, her heart sank at the words.
Aziza and nane both jumped when she burst out laughing. Aziza Becouse he didn't think she could even laugh so hard, and Nane Becouse she wasn't expecting it. "So you came over why exactly?" Nane cocked her head to the side. "Be nice." Aziza hissed out at his sister. "I told you she'd ask strange questions." Aziza laughed.
"It's not that strange a question. I mean, her older brother just showed up with a random woman. i'd be asking the same questions if i were her." Zahra wiped at the tears in the corners of her eyes. Zahra turned back to Nane, "Well, he told me he had a little sister, and i wanted to meet you, after all, your brother is quite nice. I figured you must be just as sweet."
"Oh please, I'm sweeter then him." Nane grinned. "I'm going to get back to the goats. Some of them like to try amd run. And someone doesn't want to build a pin for them. so i habe to watch them. Bye!" Nane skipped out.
Aziza rolled his eyes, "isn't she a dear?" He asked jokingly.
"She reminds me of myself when i was younger. Full of fight." she looked back to Aziza. "you two dont really seem to get a chance to relax, do you? If you'd like, i can have a couple guards watch the herd and you and your sister are welcome to stay the night at the palace." Zahra looked around the house, something about it was cozy, and it made her feel safe. Plus with Aziza standing there, she felt like she was in the safest spot in all of Egypt.
Aziza shook his head, "no thanks." He smiled slightly, "we're not always busy. And I don't know about Nane, but watching goats can be very relaxing." He leaned against a wall and crossed his arms. "Plus, I'm pretty sure the pharaoh wouldn't be found of having us around. Sorry, he just kinda seems like that kinda guy."
"Pfft, he's afraid of me. We act like you two, brother and sister." She too folded her arms, yet the placement as well as the deep cut in her neckline didnt make her look threatening. "If anything, I'm the mean one out of the two of us, most people tend to avoid me because of that." Admitting that out loud struck a nerve with Zahra, her face had a hint of hurt, but it was mostly masked over. Trying to push away her negativity, she smiled when she looked at Aziza, "How can watching goats be relaxing?" Something about the way Aziza stood made Zahra flustered. He was carefree, kind, and the romantic in her imagined what it would be like to find someone like him.
Aziza cocked his head to the side and looked her up and down, "but you're not scary?" A smirk played on his lips before he snapped his attention back to her face. "Goats don't complain. You should try it sometime. Though it can be very boring, And nane starts to talk to the goats sometimes." He chuckled softly. "What do you do to relaxe?"
"Then youre the only one who thinks that." She mumbled under her breath. Zahra had paused when he asked her his question. What did she do? Did she ever relax? "Uhh……hm. Well, i suppose training helps me relax…kind of? Honestly, i hardly give myself any free time to truly relax."
Aziza raised an eyebrow, "training? As in how? Ripping out the hearts of man and sacrfinging them to the gods?" He gave a small joking grin along with a laugh before turning serious and adding, "you should really relax more. Its good for you."
The grin he gave made Zahras heart skip a beat. She unfolded her arms and began to walk towards him slowly. "I'll rest when im dead. And as for the hearts…" Zahra stopped directly in front of Aziza and looked into his eyes. "I only do that to the cute ones who make me angry." She winked at him before walking towards the door. "Unfortunately, i should get going. I have things that need to get done." She paused at the doorway and looked back at Aziza, "See you tomorrow?"
Aziza froze when she began to walk twords him. Half expecting her to slap him or something. "Right uh. Yeah." He mumbled while trying to hide the heat the rose to his face. "See you tomorrow, Zahra." He composed himself best her could, using a small awkward smile along with a wave.
"Good." Zahra then walked out the front door and through the city, back to her home. Her mind kept going back to Aziza no matter how much she tried to keep her thoughts on track. Replaying the day through her head made her happy beyond belief. She would more than likely be ranting to Tiye later, before she ran her midnight errands.
Aziza smiled and sunk to the floor. He thought about their awkward encounter then everything after. Everything that led up to 'see you tomorrow.'
If it wasn't for his sister, Nane, calling him. He probably would have stayed there on the floor thinking about the day. But work was to be done and Nane was bored of watching the goats. Aziza waved his sister off, letting her go inside and letting himself watch the goats. His kind still wondering to the days events.
