Halo looks up and sets down his book. He opens the door and starts. "Oh. Hello. Welcome back, Kiki. Come. Get warm. Do you need anything?"
Halo looks up and sets down his book. He opens the door and starts. "Oh. Hello. Welcome back, Kiki. Come. Get warm. Do you need anything?"
Kiki stayed at the door defiantly, but decided to trust Halo. "I um was wondering if you had a sweater I could barrow. Its uh okay if you don't. But I was just trying to get to a town near here but it got to cold-" she stopped herself, noticing she was rambling.
Halo nods. "I'm sure I gave one of Heaven's old ones. Come in and get warm. I'll go look for it."
Kiki thought of just waiting by the door, but the cold bitting at her back was like a push inwards. She took a step in and closed the door behind herself.
Halo walked upstairs, searching for some sort of coat and what not. He managed to find a heavy coat, plenty thick enough to manage someone the winter.
Kiki leaned on the wall closest to the door while rubbing her arms for warmth but soon stopped when she heard a noise. 'its nothing. Just the wind.' she told herself.
Halo walks down the stairs and sees her. "I have the coat." He pulls the thick, soft jacket from behind his back and offers it to her.
Kikis jaw dropped at the sight of the coat, "I uh, it doesn't need to be so nice." She muttered while still starring.
Halo chuckles. "It's okay. I have another one anyways. This was Heaven's old jacket, she was to small for it, so… Yeah. It's really warm, too. So you won't freeze to death."
"A-are you sure its okay? I'm sorry I don't mean to be needy." Kiki shook her head at herself. "Its uh, actually its okay. I don't need it. Sorry."
Halo shakes his head and wraps it around her. "No. It's alright. I don't need it, Heaven doesn't need it. It's just sitting in a closet."
"Oh um thanks." Her voice came out more high pitched then normal. "But um- sorry this is out of the blue- if you're ment to protect people, can't you sense them?"
Halo taps his lip. He shakes his head and smiles. "Sadly no. Only people that I find. Why?" He asks curiously.
Kiki shrugged, "I just thought maybe you could. Have you found anyone else?" She scrunched up her face as if in thought, and she was. She was confused as to why she'd come back. Why she'd asked for help, and why she wasn't leaving yet.
"Not really. I've only found a few, and they've gone on their way. They didn't exactly want my help." He shrugs. He had been extremely lonely most of the time. "Only Heaven seems to come and see me." He shrugs.
"Are they, still alive?" Kiki cocked her head to the side slightly. "Sorry no, don't answer that." She thought maybe it might be painful to talk about if they had died.
Halo looks down. "Yeah. One of them, anyways." That one was Kiki. He rubs the back of his head. He felt like he was going to break down. He had been alone, Heaven rarely visiting. The people he had to protect left, only to be killed. He sighed and smiles. "It's okay though."
"A-are you sure?" Kiki wrung her hands awkwardly. "Its okay to be mad at me." 'people are always mad at me.' she forced a small smile, still confused as to why she hadn't left yet. But it felt as if something was compelling her to stay.
Halo shakes his head and smiles. "No. Just lost in the past. It gets rather lonely here without people around… Oh the stories I could tell…" He trails off, his wings fluttering as his heart aches.
All the alarms blaring in her head, all the warnings to leave, and yet here she was. Only listening to the smallest quitest one, telling her to stay a little longer. "Oh, I'm rather sorry that it get lonely. Why don't you just leave?" She could understand his pain. Oh how lonely she'd gotten out there after her family died.
He smiles. "I wish I could… But this home holds memories… I grew up here. I've been stationed here." He sighs quietly.
"Oh." Kiki wrung her hands again. "Well um thank you for the jacket, and saving me earlier." She looked back at the door. "I'll see you around?"
Halo nods and smiles. "you're welcome back anytime." He says softly. He looks around, biting his lip.
"Right um, bye then. Thank you really- again." Kiki gave an awkward smiled and left, closing the door behind her.
Halo nods. "I'll be here if you need anything." He says. He watches her go. "I'll always be here." He mutters, sighing quietly.
The cold seemed to be trying to push her back, the wind seeming to try and help. Kiki continued on, going to where she thought the small town was located.
Halo settled back down in his chair, but he gazed at the fire with a blank expression. Alone again. He sighs sadly.
After an hour or so of walking Kiki stopped amd turned in a slow circle. "Great." She mumbled realizing that she was lost and the dark of the night wasn't good to travel in. She awkwardly turned back, feeling stupid and knowing she'd have to ask for directions once she found Halos cabin again.
Halo hums softly, tidying his cabin quietly. It was daily routine for him nowadays. Clean, read, cook, sleep.
She knocked on the door once again. Feeling rather stupid. Kiki looked for ways to explain why she was back, and hoped that Halo wouldn't be annoyed with her. stupid stupid. she kept telling herself over and over again.
