"No. Fascinatingly, I don't keep soap on my person." Ru let the manacle fall with a clang. Besides the suspiciously stained manacles, there wasn't much to see in the room. It was probably some kind of prison block, used to hold any prisoners the master of the house might want locked up.

Deleted user

"Hmm. Well, someone's been naughty. A lot of dried blood here. Tastes like…." she brought a manacle to her tongue, licking it. "Hmm. Troll. Eurgh."

Deleted user

"Eww." Ru felt his face scrunch up in disgust because Ariana just licked a disgusting old manacle. She licked it! No hesitation or anything. Setting aside the fact that she could Identify whatever unfortunate creature had been in here by tasting their blood- which was more freaky than anything else- this was completely gross. "Let's move on to the next room. Before you decide to chomp on any more disgusting old metal."

Deleted user

"Oi, respect my skills, bitch." Aria placed a hand to hip in protest.

Deleted user

"No! You just licked a gross old manacle. You put that in your mouth." Ru stepped out of the room, lightly tugging Ariana by the arm. Enough that she could pull away easily if she really wanted to stay, but hard enough to get her out of the room before she decided to feast on the manacles.

Deleted user

"What the… listen, it's not that weird." Ariana protested, but let herself be dragged. The feel of his skin on hers made her almost shiver, but she held it back. What was going on with her?

Deleted user

"In what world? In polite society, we don't chow down on old rusty metal." Ru pulled her down the hallways and over to the next door, another half hidden grey entrance with runes instead of a doorknob. He found the runes easily enough and stepped into the next room. It was an armory, walls covered in weapons of all shapes and sizes. Ariana was going to have a field day.

Deleted user

"Hey, these look fantastic. Well, I'm a little peckish, head back to main camp for a spot of lunch?" Ariana asked, feeling like she wanted to leave. This reminded her too much of Initiation.

Deleted user

Ru was enchanted by the weapons quality. He traced a couple fingers over a golden dagger with a dazed smile. These were so cool. How had no one known these were here before? "Are you sure you don't wanna snack on these?" He teased, pulling a sword off the wall and marveling at how well balanced it was.

Deleted user

"Fine." she said, biting into the metal mockingly. "Bit bland." she criticized.

Deleted user

Ru laughed, setting the sword back on the wall. "I'll take your word for it. I guess we'll have to head back to the kitchen for some decent food then." He paused and took a more serious tone. "You sure you don't wanna keep looking around this room? No offense, but you seem like the kind of person who'd love this stuff." After all, Ariana had picked up the dagger from the first room. Why would this big room full of even more weapons be any different?

Deleted user

"Well, I'm getting bored. We'll come back later." she said, not a request, not an order, merely a simple statement of fact.

Deleted user

"Sure. I think it's around noon, so the cook should have some lunch whipped up." Ru walked out of the weapons room with a shrug. He wondered what they'd be having. Probably soup. The chef, Nelly, was unreasonably obsessed with soup. He didn't get it, but Nelly didn't take any lip from anyone.

Deleted user

Ru walked out to the kitchen with Ariana, making half-hearted conversation about nothing at all. Nelly, to Ru' everlasting gratefulness and shock, hadn't made soup. She'd made some kind of fancy sandwich with thin slices of meat and cheese. When he tried a bite, it was surprisingly good.

Deleted user

Ariana took a bite, savoring the taste. Or attempting to. She could hardly taste at all. Her mind was elsewhere. That place…. she wasn't sure she could ever go back.

Deleted user

Ariana seemed weirdly distant, and Ru was a little concerned. Was she feeling sick after licking that gross manacle? "Hey, are you okay?"

Deleted user

With a sarcastic "Mmhmm" Ru bit into his sandwich. If Ariana didn't want to tell him, she didn't have to tell him. He just didn't really care for flimsy excuses. "So, what do you want to do when you're queen?"

Deleted user

"No idea. I never wanted to be a queen, really. Just a normal, peaceful life, away from all the danger." she said, looking away.

Deleted user

Ru snorted. The idea of not knowing he'd rule a kingdom someday was so foreign that it was laughable to him. He'd been planning what to do upon his eventual rise to power for… ten years? Fifteen years? As long as he'd fully grasped the responsibility that would be forced into his hands. "I wish my life could be normal and peaceful."

Deleted user

"It isn't funny. I loved someone once, and my people hurt them. And I was forced to kill to survive. I laughed in the face of Death. I've seen things you wouldn't believe. I have lost things you will never understand. And I know things. Secrets that must never be told. Knowledge that must never be spoken. I looked into the eyes of a goddess, and I watched as everything burned until there was just me, and then I did it again. I watched as my sister exhaled her last breath. And I, well, I never really did like preparing for things. Surprise is much more fun." Ariana said, standing up and leaving the room. She was angry, angrier than ever. But it was a new anger. A quiet anger.

Deleted user

Ru blinked a couple times, trying to absorb all the information that had just been spat in his face. He'd made what he thought was a pretty normal comment, and she'd pushed that paragraph out into his face and stormed off. And he'd experienced so much shit in his life. He'd had a sibling die. He'd been dealing with assassination attempts since he was a child. His life had been touched by death and sadness and a million kinds of pain. But he still realized that Ariana's life had been so much worse than his. It was a product of her culture, and he shouldn't have compared his life to hers.

Why couldn't he talk to Ariana for more than half an hour without making her blow up in his face?

Deleted user

"That idiot, how dare he… it's unforgivable, inexcusable, astonishingly, annoyingly…. sexy." she resolved. "Seriously? Sexy? What, you like two people now, Aria? Typical. You idiot. Just find Rosie, apologize, do something! You need a drink. Or seven. Damn." she muttered to herself as she wandered the halls.

Deleted user

Ru set down his sandwich and set off to find Rosie. He wanted to apologize, but Ariana probably wasn't in any kind of mood to speak with him. And he wanted to know what kind of things to avoid talking about with Ariana. Rosie and here were friends. Rosie would know how to talk to her.

Deleted user

Rosanna found the prince strolling down the corridor. Damn. Why can't there be a convenient alcove to hide in? she thought. She was looking for Ariana, to hopefully make things right between them.

Deleted user

Abort! Abort! Rosie looked like she'd rather be somewhere else, and Ru did not need to piss off another person in this damn mansion. He just wanted to head to his room and bury himself in work and not have to think for a while. "Hey, Rosie. What's up?"

Deleted user

"The sky. Do you need anything? And please refer to me as Rosanna, I only have my close friends call me by that name." she said polietly.

Deleted user

"Oh, of course." It made sense that Rosie would be a nickname. After all, she and Ariana were fairly close. It made sense that Ariana would refer to her with a nickname. "And… can you fetch me some pens and ink?" If he was going to bury himself in work, he was going to need more supplies than he had now, seeing as Ariana had burned everything he was going to use.
