Ember smiled. "Purple it is then! Lucky for me, I already have a roll of purple yarn, so Idon't have to buy any. I think it's a really cute shade of purple too." She squeezed his hand.

Axel parked his car, then grabbed his wallet and phone. He glanced at her and smiled, before rising out of the car and letting her out with a bow.
“I can walk you to your dorm, if you’d like.”
Ember got out and shifted nervously on her feet. One: She didn't know if her friend Serenity was still there, and Two: She really didn't want him to see just how bare minimum- no, less than that she was living in. It was better than it had been two weeks ago, but it was still pretty bad. "No, no, that's ok. I'm sure you've got things to do…"
Axel shut the door and set a hand on her shoulder. “Nonsense. I can be a gentleman and walk you back. Lead the way!”
Ember looked down at her shoes and meekly led the way. When they got to her dorm she reached out to turn the doorknob, but hesitated.
Axel glanced at her and smiled, squeezing her shoulder. “I won’t laugh at you for your livingspace.”
Ember took a deep breath and opened the door. She turned around and walked backwards into the dorm. With a strained smile she gave a "ta-da!" gesture and said, "Welcome to my humble abode." She was suddenly very conscious of how there was no furniture of any kind anywhere, and the only way anyone could tell someone was living here were a couple dirty dishes in the sink and papers all over the counters along with stacks of unpaid bills.
Axel smiled and walked into the dorm. “It’s lovely. I’ve always loved the humble look.” He grinned down at her. “Shut the door. I’d like to talk.”
Ember put her head down and meekly shut the door. She turned back, head still on her shoes. "What did you want to say?" 'Is he gonna make fun of me? Scorn me?' she fretted, twisting her shirt hem.
Axel took her in a hug. “You’re great. Really great.” He let her go after a moment, still smiling. “Really, you are—“

Serenity crashed into Ember suddenly, having flown out from Ember's room. She crushed the small girl with a hug. "You're baaaaack!" She then looked up and saw Axel. She smirked then whispered loudly to Ember, "You were right. He is hot." Ember's face turned red and she buried her face in her hands with embarrassment. Serenity let Ember go and started circling Axel, eyeing him. "How was your date?" Ember squeaked something from behind her hands, but it wasn't clear what she said.
Axel put on a confused and bemused expression. He knew he was attractive of the sort, but it was odd to be told it.
“Er… the date was fine.” He watched her circle him, raising his eyebrows.
Serenity stopped in front of him. She smiled. "So. You don't deny it." She gave a smirk. "Does this mean you're taken?" She was quite close to Axel. Ember had seen this process from her best friend too many times before. Ember gulped. She couldn't stomach watching Axel being taken from her. She choked out an, "Excuse me." And practically ran into her room. Once in there, she collapsed onto her plastic blow-up mattress and bit her hand to stifle her any sounds begging to come out. Tears slipped from her wide, distressed eyes.

Axel watched Ember flee and gave a faint noise of protest. He looked down at Serenity to find her practically on top of him. He stepped back.
“Er… I guess not. We haven’t talked about it.”

Serenity raised an eyebrow. "Is that what you were gonna talk to her about it when when you said "Close the door"? She smirked again. She started circling him again. "You sure you'd want her? She's an innocent little thing. I'm not sure if she'd even accept you." She stopped in front of him again, this time with a grave look on her face. "Do you have any idea how many times she's been heartbroken, hurt both physically and mentally, and attempted suicide. Did she ever tell you about that?"
Axel turned a faint shade of red and stepped away from her circling. “Look, I didn’t know that, but that’s not gonna change how I feel about her. She’s a wonderful woman. I’d love to have her.”
Serenity gave a pouty face. "That's too bad. I'd be mu-" Suddenly she was rammed to floor by a fierce little ball of sorrow. Ember sat on her and smacked her. "YOU JERK!" She then started running for the door, sobbing. 'He'd never go for me after seeing her. I have to get out of here!' She crashed through the door, and left, running for the yard out front. Serenity lay on the floor in shock. "She's never cared before…" she mumbles, eyes wide.

Axel started and gasped softly when Serenity got smacked. He looked to the girl on the floor to the fleeing one, and decided to go after Ember. He tailed her and carefully poked his head outside.
“Ember?”
(Sorry. My brain didn't want to give me anything different. I tried.)
Ember's head flicked towards him, showing her wet, pale face. "Sorry." She sobbed out before walking away, trying to wipe her tears away. 'Get yourself together, you over dramatic shit.' She silently scolded herself, using her mother's words from when she had lived with her. She bit her finger trying to focus on the pain rather than what she was feeling.
(Meh it’s fine. It wasn’t that bad.)
Axel grabbed her hand gently, pulling her closer. “No, it’s okay.” He grabbed her other hand and moved them down to reveal her face. “It’s okay. I promise.”
Ember tried to tug herself away. "No. I'm fine. Why don't you go home? I'm not worth your time." She looked down at the leaf scattered ground trying to not look at him and burst out crying again.
Axel shook his head. “It’s not okay. You’re crying.” His voice fell soft. “She hurt you.” He squeezed her hands gently. “I’m here for you not her. You’re absolutely worth my time, Ember.”
