"Ten? As in…still a child ten?" Cade asked, sounding more surprised than he meant to. "She really put you through that?"
"Ten? As in…still a child ten?" Cade asked, sounding more surprised than he meant to. "She really put you through that?"
Nykidia latched her self on to Scarlet causing them to fall over. "I'm sorry! I'msorryI'msorryI'msorryI'msorryI'msorry. I'm so sorry." She repeated over and over,
(I'm going to bed goodnight!)
(Night)
Scarlet shrugged numbly. “Thanks. She did worse.”
"Why didn't you run away before now? If the queen really is this terrible, I would have left way sooner." Cade couldn't help his curiosity.
“You’re underestimating her Highness Cade” Phoebe said. She put the ouch away and her hair looked far dirtier now - her hands too.
“Every time I tried to escape Alice would hold my wrist and physically force me to stab someone I loved.” Scarlet kept her eyes on the ground.
Cade stared at her, his eyes wide with shock. "…Wow. Your mother is some b*tch huh?"
“Mm.” Scarlet turned away. “Anyways, I’m sorry for endangering you. Maybe I should go..”
Cade shook his head. "Go where? We're probably your best bet if you want to stay alive out here." He said, keeping up the act.
Scarlet shrugged. “I guess.” She quickly moved to one of the walls so that she was not the centre of attention.
Nykidia looked at her dad. "Hey dad. I'm sure Scarlet would love a hat." The Mad Hatter jumped up. "Oh yes. Of course! Scarlet! What are your favorite colors?"
Scarlet blinked in surprise. What? “Oh no, you don’t have to, sir,” she protested, not wanting to strain his hospitality.
"Nonononono I insist." He said. Nykidia walked up to Scarlet. "Please. He hasn't been able to make a hat for a person that's not us in a while."
Scarlet hesitated, then shifted awkwardly. “Sure. Thanks.” What’s my favourite colour? She was surprised to find that she didn’t actually know. Not red. Or blue, her mother wore too much of it. “Yellow.” She finally decided. “The darker kind.”
"Hm… Hats are nice." Virgil muttered to himself, trying to take away any negative feelings he and Scarlet felt, it didn't work.
"A yellow! And you young man?" He asked Virgil as he went at got some fabrics from the other room.
"Huh? Oh, my favorite color is dark purple." He says, startled out of his own thoughts by the Mad Hatters voice.
"A yellow and a purple!" He said gathering the fabrics. Nykidia dragged both Scarlet and Virgil over to her dad so he could get there head sizes.
Cade tried his best to hold back a chuckle as the Hatter began making hats for Virgil and the princess.
Nykidia gave Cade a look. "Do you want a hat as well, Cade?" She said.
“You guys have a nice ceiling.” Chelsea said from the top of a bookshelf. Some time, somehow, she climbed on top of a bookshelf without making a lot of sound or a big mess.
Nykidia looked up at Cheslea. "I know. You can sit up on the ceiling if you want. It's pretty comfy." She said.
"No, I'm good." Cade responded, then he turned to Chelsea. "You confuse me."
Nykidia cocked her head. "How does that confuse you?"
"Because….that's not what normal people do." Cade replied, gesturing to Chelsea.
“I’m not normal.” Chelsea grinned, curling herself up and making herself comfortable on top of the bookshelf.
Nykidia gestured to herself, Night, Cheslea, Virgil and her Dad. "Do we look normal to you?"
Cade rolled his eyes. "Defiantly not."
"I can literally control fear," Virgil said, deadpanning. "Why does that seem normal to you and not Chelsea?"
“But you see-“ Chelsea slid off the bookshelf and landed on the ground swiftly, “-if I was normal, life would be a lot more difficult.” A strange gleam appeared in her eyes.
