"Are you okay?" Vita asked, tilting hia head as his stable form flickers for a second. "Nevrmind, I can tell you're hurt." He said, peering down from his position in the air.
Yuzuki looked over the letter again. She was traversing the city streets, dragging a suitcase. behind her. A messenger bag was slung over her left shoulder, and it bounced as she walked. The half-kitsune had an illusion over herself that made her tail and ears invisible to humans. She was glad that she wouldn't have to do this much longer; once she reached the high school she'd be attending, Yuzuki wouldn't have to worry about hiding her identity from humans. "106 Preston, 106 Preston…Ah! 106 Preston!" Her face lit up when she reached the destination, despite the way the house looked. It was a Victorian-style house and would undoubtedly have been beautiful if it hadn't fallen into a state of utter disrepair like it had. The 'home' even had graffiti on it, several random, colorful designs and some less-than-friendly words haphazardly sprayed on the front in varying vibrant hues. As Yuzuki walked onto the overgrown yard, a whistle sounded from the shadows. Three boys, seventeen or eighteen if Yuzuki had to guess, emerged from a busted-out window. One of them was armed with a baseball bat that had barbed wire wrapped around it. A little cliche, don't you think? Yuzuki thought. The one wielding the bat appeared to size her up, his gaze lingering on certain areas–take your guess which ones. He licked his lips–no, I'm serious, the bastard licked his lips, and the other two sniggered to themselves. Yuzuki rolled her eyes, knowing how this would go, placing her hands in front of her as if she were holding a ball by its sides. "Hey, sexy," he said, sneering at her. "What's an a–" he didn't finish his sentence, being cut off by shock as a ball of purple flame appeared between Yuzuki's hands. The leader–at least, that's what Yuzuki thought his role was–and his goons began to scream, but they didn't escalate in volume too much. Instead, the boys' eyes glazed over and their jaws went slack. Their cries died in their throats as they fell under Yuzuki's hypnosis. Her eyes appeared to be giving off a slight glow, though it may have been the foxfire reflecting off of them.
"When I snap my fingers, you won't be able to see me. You'll feel an overwhelming urge to go back to your homes, or at least away from this place. You won't want to ever return here. Do you understand?" Yuzuki finished off the suggestion with a question. She didn't want any mistakes or misunderstandings. All three boys nodded slowly. "Good." And with that, Yuzuki extinguished the foxfire and snapped her fingers. The trio flew out of their trances, looking around at each other in confusion. As they bickered, walking away, Yuzuki blew right past them and entered the house. She walked down the stairs warily, hearing them creak dangerously under each step and wincing when her suitcase fell onto each of them with a thud. The blue-purple liquid shone dully in the darkness of the house's basement. "This must be the portal, huh?" Yuzuki said aloud, then let go of her suitcase, letting it fall over with a clatter, and padded over to it. She stuck a hand into the pool. It came out dry. "Yep, definitely it." The teenager walked back over to her suitcase, picked it up, and plunged into the portal.
When she came out on the other side, Yuzuki landed right next to another girl. She stumbled, surprised and more than a little prone to tripping over her own feet, and bumped the redhead. "Ah! Sorry about that!" Yuzuki exclaimed.
(wow I missed a lot. So Simone doesn't know she's a witch and she'll find out as we go if that's cool)
Simone heard the mail truck driving slowly down the street, stopping at each house one by one before getting to hers. She dragged herself put of the warmth of he blankets to get the mail before leaving it until the next week. When she opened the mailbox, it was filled with a whole bunch of junk mail from the beginning of the month. She sighed deeply before pulling out the mail, apologizing the the driver for trying to stuff it in. She threw it on her coffee table but one golden-lined envelope slipped out and fell on the ground along with some of the junk mail. She put the magazine ads on the table and opened it wondering what it was. It was labeled confidential mail and she felt special for a quick second. When she read what was enclosed in the document her jaw dropped, the paper fell out of her hands and hit the ground slowly. She didn't know what word shocked her the most, witch, powers, magic school?! It wasn't a bad surprise though, her dreams instantly came true and she wasn't going to be like those cliche kids in the movies and not take the offer. She took her suitcase that she hadn't used in years and started packing. It came with an airplane ticket already in it and she called an Uber. The airplane would arrive in half an hour so she spent the time texting close family members about it. Apparently they knew about it and enrolled her into the place.
(I wrote enough for this response)
(I'm so sorry that I haven' replied sooner! I was a bit busy earlier.)
Florence waved her hands in a friendly but dismissive manner. "Nah, I'm fine. It happens a lot really, my teeth are way sharper than they're supposed to be." She explained, giving a brief toothy smile. Just as she had calmed her nerves, a thump sounded from beside of her and instantly she brought up crumbly looking walls around her out of shock. Letting out a shaky breath, Florence looked at the walls. They were paper thin. There must not be many metal compounds in the ground here. She thought, allowing the poor structures to disperse and sink back into the ground. Looking up, Florence saw who had bumped into her and listened as the girl with the ombre hair apologized.
"Don't worry about it, falling from the portal wasn't fun for me either." Florence said, finally standing up. She brushed herself off, and noticed for the first time that it wasn't quite as cold here as it was where she lived. Despite the current weather where she lived, the rust red haired girl usually wore something similar to what she had on that day; a yellow thick strap tank top and skinny jeans.
@EmptyNebula it's good to see that you're jumping in!))
"It's good to see that you're okay! I'm Vita, a forest ghost." He said cheerfully as he waved to the new girl. He was super excited to make new friends!
Simone took her suitcase from the airplane, tired from her trans-Atlantic flight. She knew she would suffer some jet lag but she didn't care. She read the directions on the letter and it directed her to a bush. No way am I going through that. She told herself, it was one of those spiky bushes that poke you on touch. She put her finger gently on one leaf and it didn't feel like anything she could describe. Her finger went through and it let out a little ripple and she quickly pulled it out. She looked around before going inside, pulling her suitcase with her. She fell on her knees and her hair messed up a little before she put it back where it was. She saw some people walking around before she got up and brushed her pants off.
Yuzuki smiled. "Yeah, it'd definitely suck if you got hurt and missed the first day, huh? I'm Yuzuki. Half kitsune, half human," she introduced herself. "Magic school. Hey, at least I won't have to hide my ears and tail anymore. Oh–speaking of…" her eyes got that strange glow again, and ears and a tail seemed to sprout out of their hiding spots. In actuality, Yuzuki had just lifted the illusion. They'd always been there. "It's kind of a pain to keep them hidden all the time. I guess I don't have to worry about that anymore."
"Cool ears! Also, I can't get hurt, I'm dead!" He said cheerfully, floating down more so he could have the illusion of standing up. (Which he was unable to do) "Yeah! This is the first year that they're accepting dead people into the academy!"
Florence nodded in agreement with what Vita had said about Yuzuki's ears and tail. "Yeah, that's really cool!" She said, wheeling her suitcase over to her legs. Oh, so he's dead? He doesn't seem to be too sad about it. Maybe it happened a long time ago? Florence thought, once more almost jumping out of her clothes as yet another soon to be student landed on the ground. This time, it was a girl with brown hair which was pinned into a ponytail. As the stranger got to her feet, Florence turned to face her. "Hello!'' She greeted, happy to notice that the pain was gone.
"Hey, so I am clearly new and I don't know where to go. I have a schedule but I don't know what it means. Also, I'm apparently a witch, are there other witches here." She rambled, before taking a breath. "Sorry, I ramble a lot." She said shyly, blushing a bit.
(oop I am late to my own rp! curse dentists!
Darya walked onto the campus, hands in her pockets. She had followed to letter's instructions to a portal and ended up…here. She saw some people in the distance and was going to walk in the other direction, but then remembered she was supposed to be making friends. She walked up to them. "uh, hey. Are all of you new too?" she said.
(I, personally, have a burning hatred for the dentist's office…)
Florence briefly drew blanks in her head as the brown-haired girl began rambling, trying to keep up with what she was saying. "Oh, well, I don't know about the others but I don't even have a schedule so I can't be of much help with that. I've never been here." Once she had finished speaking, a voice sounded from off to her left and she turned her head. With a weary smile, Florence said, "Oh, hi there." Soon after, she sat back down on the ground.
Luciana tossed aside the seven different piles of clothes she'd discarded in her closet as she tried to find the portal. "Why is this stupid thing in my closet anyway? I understand that I'm an amazing mage and my wonderful house is filled my magic but really? A portal? In my closet?" She tossed aside at least 10 different cloaks aside and finally found the portal.
"Of course the portal is located in the corner of my closet which I conveniently leave empty for some reason." Luciana sighed, she dragged her suitcase over and in her other hand she carried her precious succulent plant.
Luciana blankly stared at the portal and the sighed again, "Welp." She walked in with her suitcase and she realized that entering the portal like that was one of the weirdest things to be experienced.
Simone looked up to the other new person and waved. "Yea sadly, but I'm going to try and find the dorms… or whatever they call rooms here." She told them, walking off. She saw a sign pointing to the sleeping quarters and she followed it. She went up a couple flights of steps before arriving to the rooms. She took her letter back out which told her what her room number was and she started scanning the hall. She looked for number 204, which was most likely on the right side, still carrying her suitcase. Simone finally arrived to the door which said 'Welcome, Simone Reyes.' She felt a bit weirded out that they knew her name and made her a whole schedule but she didn't care much, she just needed sleep before jet-lag settled in. There was no door handle to her room which was pretty strange but a student passing by saw her struggling and explained how it worked.
"There's no knob, it's already somewhat encoded with your DNA so you just walk through and that's it."
Simone hummed to show that she knew how to do it and thanked the person before the left. She stepped through the door and put her bags down.
Darya shrugged. "Okay then. Maybe I should go find my room too?" She hoped this place would be near an ocean, but there was no body of water in sight, except for a rather large fountain in the middle of the courtyard. She hoped there would be a pool somewhere, but even pools were gross and dirty.
Looking for an upside to things, she went to her room, 207. There wasn't a handle so she just pushed it open.
(oof guys I'm sorry this sucked but i am so tired! so sorry )
"Hm, okay, I should probably go as well." Florence announced, waving goodbye to the others that remained. "Well, I guess I'll see you guys around!" She added, wheeling her suitcase along with her. After a few moments of following signs pointing in the direction of the dormitories, Florence finally reached the entrance and pulled out her acceptance letter. Your room will be located on the second floor, and will be room 215. She read, instantly making her way to the stairwell. Now on the second floor, the girl stopped in front of her door. "No handle, eh?" She muttered, eyeing the door suspiciously. None of the other doors had handles, so maybe there was a trick to it.
Just as she was about to nudge the bottom of the door with her foot, Florence realized a few seconds too late that her foot had gone through the door instead. Clamping her eyes shut, Florence allowed herself to fall since she had no way of really stopping herself. With her right leg still out in the hallway, and her left leg as well as her chin planted on the floor, she let out a loud sigh. "This school is gonna put me in the hospital…" She said, gathering herself and standing up.
(Don't worry about it, we all have lives outside of this!)
The second Simone finished putting her belongings where they went, she flopped down on the bed, setting an alarm for when to go to the admissions office so they can explain her classes to her. She had no idea how the school worked at all and she wasn't awake enough to deal with it. She played enough witch games and watched a lot of tv shows so it shouldn't be to hard.
(HEY i know Im a bit late but I just read this whole thing and it looks super interesting, can I join?)
(Yes yes ofc! Just hurry with theform
Darya has read in her letter that the rooms would be costumized for each student- so she was pretty disappointed when she entered a room with bare white walls, a tiny bed, and a single dresser. Then she spied a little note on the bed, explaining that she just had to spend one night in the room and then it would mold itself to her dream room.
Yuzuki had said a quick thank you in response to the two commenting on her ears. When Florence left, she turned to Vita after waving. "They've probably got the right idea. I think I'll head to my dorm too, just to get settled and stuff. See you around, hopefully!" She smiled, then turned and walked towards the dorm building. "Oookaay, and my room is…" Yuzuki glanced at her letter. "211." She walked to her room, then looked at it with a confused expression. "Uh…" It…didn't have a doorknob? How was she supposed to open it? She sighed, going to lean on it. Maybe someone who knew what they were doing would know what was going on. That wasn't what happened. With a screech, Yuzuki fell through the door. "What the?!" she exclaimed. Her suitcase was half in as well. She pulled it the rest of the way through, then got up and poked her finger through the door. Shrugging, Yuzuki let it be. "Magical high school, magical door. Guess I should have predicted something like this." She got to unpacking her stuff. Clothes went in the dresser, her school supplies were already in her satchel bag for school, and other items went in a few collapsing bins that Yuzuki had packed into her suitcase.
Florence sat down on her bed and bounced around on the edge of it a bit. It was new and she could tell. All and all, the room actually wasn't that bad looking. The walls inside were painted eggshell and there were hardwood floors. Even though the wood is fake, it looks nice. Florence thought, imagining her old room. The only reason she had been able to leave so soon was because her and her mother had been getting ready for weeks. Scanning the room once more, Florence pulled her suitcase to her feet and opened it up. Out of it, she pulled clothes and toiletries.
Any normal person would have noticed by now, that the amount of items the red head was pulling from the case was abnormal. A few streets from her mother's house lived an old woman with a pure white cat who practiced witch craft. This old lady had helped Florence by giving her a special lining for her bag that allowed items to shrink once placed inside. At the time, Florence had thought the item not that helpful but was extremely grateful for it now.
Moments later, Florence heard a screech and cringed. Must've been the door again. She thought, remembering her own painful trip through the entrance of the door.
(Sure thing, I will write my character's part tomorrow, and I will make it fit in the story.)
Name: Kleera Iron
Species/Magic: Demi-Harpy
Age:15
Gender:female
Sexuality:asexual
Powers (try around 3 if you're being specific, and one if you're talking generally): main power is manipulation of air (though her powers are still developing), can shape air into wings for limited amount of time), can see in the dark, heightened senses. (i guess you could also include her talons and fangs as powers but not really???)
Personality: speaks her mind, impulsive, short tempered, loyal, kind when she wants to be, over-protective, prideful but not cocky, has a hard time making friends, tends to judge people too quickly, will fight for what she believes in (i guess we'll see more of her personality as the rp goes on… but she came from a family of strongly bred demi-harpies so she is loyal to her bloodline)
Appearance: Her half Harpy appearance includes vibrant green eyes with slitted pupils, iron fangs(retractable), armoured skin around hands, neck, chest, stomach, legs(from knees to ankles and feet, and retractable (about 3 inch) talons (hands and feet), slightly pointed ears. her human features are pixie cut white hair, tan (caribbean/islander) skin, and a short, but lean build. Clothes often include jeans of any ripped variety, vintage t-shirts and sweaters, and black vans.
Likes: Rock music(or music of most kinds), doodling, breezes, BOBA TEA, comfortable clothes, gliding
Dislikes: tight clothes, confined spaces, loud flushing noises, fire, arrogant ignorant people
Other: is a skilled and experienced fighter in the Iron household, which is a prestigious Demi-Harpy family who are known for their fierce, territorial battle instincts. They are HIGHLY respected. (also give me any possible suggestions for her character development)
Special Markings/etc?: small silver tattoo of a feather behind right ear, nose ring in left nostril, crazy eyes i guess
Arryn looked around and played with a small locker around her neck. It was filled with a light blue substance that seemed to glow every few seconds.
Keela Iron stared blankly at the entrance to her dorm, with the small door label 227. In her left hand, she clutched the admission letter that had arrived in her window via owl mail in her families private estate in Oahu, a little too early in the morning if you ask her. Of course, her parents had expected the letter from day one, constantly reminding Keela that she was "The pride of the Iron name." and "The strongest bred member of the family since great- uncle Mico." Quite honestly, she was sick of it. Sick of the nonstop attention and praise simply because she had iron talons and teeth, and that she had the faintest whisper of the heirloom air magic. All of the Iron children had attended this highschool since the family's earliest demi-breeds. She had a lot to live up to, whether it was Nia's intellect, Manon's strength, or Bruck's great personality.
In her right hand she gripped her silver suitcase until her rough knuckles turned white. With a sigh, Keela stepped through the door and into the small, rather disappointing dorm room. She frowned and dropped her suitcase by the twin sized bed. Keela hopped onto the springy mattress and sprawled out, her acid green eyes lazily fixed on the aged, peeling ceiling. Mirra, her eldest sibling, had told her that it took a night for the room to "adjust to her personality" before it could change in any way. Keela only hoped that the room would have a large wardrobe, thinking of her suitcase practically bursting at the seems. And a window. A wide open window that over looked the entire campus, and let the cool breeze in to ruffle her pixie cut white hair.
Keela faintly scratched the small silver feather tattoo behind her ear and rolled her head to look at the door that had probably let in countless Iron siblings in years past. Again, she frowned. Her mother had told her to make friends, but "acceptable friends. No rag-tag bunch of goonies that will embarrass your sibling's reputation." she had said. Keela didn't really enjoy the idea of having to share anything, especially secrets, with anyone. Not her family, and especially not strangers.
But then the demi-harpy smiled a wicked grin, her iron canines on full display. She was going to find the most misfitted-rag tag-absolutely-random-and-embarrassing-to-the-Iron-name group of students she could find and make them close as family. If she couldn't enjoy her time here, them she'd make her family's a living hell.
(Speaking of too early in the morning, may I join?)
(Your character is based off of Manon from the throne of glass series right?)
