So this person (who identifies as…non-binary [???]) has uncontrollably switched into a new body everyday since they were born, maybe never even having their own body at all. Never the same person twice, always people their age. They meet this person who also has the same capability, but knows how to stay in one body forever. But that means that they are essentially killing that person off in order to keep a body.
(The book got a shitty movie adaptation I am very disappointed in, but I recommend the book itself.)
