"Oh, that's all right. Should we order a pizza again?" Kasey asked, closing the door behind him.
"Oh, that's all right. Should we order a pizza again?" Kasey asked, closing the door behind him.
Barry shrugged casually. "Up to you." He tried to force down the nervous jitters in his stomach, but it wasn't working. "How was your day?"
"Oh my word, it was so long," Kasey sighed as she sat down on her bed. "Raddison gave us a pop quiz… Like, what are we in high school?"
"Oh god, I feel for you." Barry mustered a chuckle and leaned over to pat her shoulder.
"Well, thanks," Kasey chuckled. "Anyway, pizza, then? Same as yesterday?"
"Yeah, sure." Barry sat down on the bed, pulling out his cards and wishing he'd maybe gelled his hair.
"Great. I'll be right back, then," Kasey said as she stood with a smile and pulled out her phone.
Barry nodded, swaying back and forth and trying to calm himself. Keep calm, keep calm. He prayed that she would react well to what he planned to ask.
Kasey ordered the pizza and walked back after a few minutes.
"Okay, the pizza's ordered and on its way. You ready to start a game?" she asked with a smile.
"Sure.", he replied, nerves fluttering. He tossed the deck to her.
"What should we play?" Kasey asked, pulling the cards out and shuffling them.
"Up to you." Barry was quite content to sit there and watch her. "Isn't there one called Principal?"
(I know nothing about playing cards lmao)
(I just know a few games. My favorite is spoons.)
"Um… I actually haven't heard of that one," Kasey admitted with a chuckle. "What about Egyptian Rat Race?"
"Never heard of it either. How do you play?"
(… And I forgot how to play…)
"Well, first…" Kasey started, still shuffling the cards as she explained. When she finished, she took a breath. "Yeah. That's it."
(Lol)
(How should we go on from here? I have no idea how to write this)
(Um… I remember you saying Barry had something to ask? Maybe they could finish their game, and he could do that?)
(Sure!)
Barry lay his final set of cards down, grinning victoriously. “I believe I win.”, he crowed jokingly.
Kasey stuck her tongue out. "Okay, fine… You win. But that technically just means that we're tied with a win each, now."
(Morning)
“Dammit.” Barry chuckled, shaking his head. “I’ll get you next time.” Suddenly quiet, he bit his lip. Come on, it’s not that hard.
(Morning! Rushing to get ready for work. Lol.)
"Yeah, I'm sure you will," Kasey chuckled before noticing Barry biting his lip. "You okay?"
(Lol have fun)
Barry shrugged it off, the movement more casual than he felt. “So, Kase. There’s a book signing tomorrow, for (insert author that Kasey likes), so you want to go together?”
(Lol. Thanks.)
"You're kidding me! How did I not know that Sarah Dessen would be here? Yeah, I'd totally like to go," Kasey said with a grin.
(I've heard she's really good, never read any of her books tho)
(lol)
Barry's heart missed a beat. Oh thank god. "It finishes around one, so I was thinking we could go for lunch after..? There's a good– um, taco place nearby. If you like tacos."
(I have read a grand total of two. Lol. They're okay.
Kasey is 100% oblivious, btw. If he's asking her on a date, he'll have to say it out-right.)
"Yeah, sure! Tacos are good!" Kasey agreed with a nod, oblivious to Barry's plight.
(lol)
Barry was half relieve, half disappointed that she seemed to have skipped over the fact that he'd asked her out. Better to ease into it, I guess. "Awesome. I don't know her very well, but I've read two of her books and they were really good, so.. yeah."
"I mean, she seems to mostly write romance novels, so I'm surprised you've even read any," Kasey chuckled. "It's cool that you liked them, though."
"Hey, who said I didn't like romance novels?", he protested laughingly, reaching forward to shove her shoulder lightly.
"I just never pegged you as that type of guy, that's all," Kasey laughed, holding her hands up defensively.
"What type do I qualify as, then?" He raised his eyebrows with a grin.
