"Yup. I'm not the only one who says it, either," Kasey said, taking another, much more careful, sip of her coffee.
"Yup. I'm not the only one who says it, either," Kasey said, taking another, much more careful, sip of her coffee.
"I believe you.", he chuckled, finishing off his scone. "What's in these things? They're amazing."
"GMO's," Kasey joked with a chuckle. "Honestly, though, I have no idea."
"Ha. Very funny." Barry snorted, taking another sip of his mocha.
"What? For all you know, they could have squirrel brains in them," Kasey said, her eyes twinkling with laughter as she hid her face behind her cup.
"Ew, gross. Never say that to me again." Barry made a face, half laughing as he reached across the table to gently nudge the cup away from her face.
"Okay, okay, I'm just teasing," Kasey laughed, setting her cup down.
"You'd better be.", he said jokingly, sticking his tongue out. "I'm paying good money for these!"
"I'm pretty sure it's strawberries, flour, sugar and other baking stuff," Kasey chuckled, shaking her head.
"Other baking materials.' Nice and specific." Barry grinned, shaking out his hair with one hand.
"Mmhm," Kasey hummed with a smile, taking another bite of her scone.
"So, how long do you have until you have to get to work?"
"I have…" Kasey checked her watch as she sipped on her coffee. "Like, two minutes."
"Aw, dammit." Barry made a puppy face.
"Hey, you'll see me tonight! Cards, remember?" Kasey laughed, nudging him under the table with her foot.
His face lit up. "Oh yeah!" He nudged her back under the table. "I'll have to ask Caleb if he can make it."
"Yeah, you do that. I'll check with Kenzie if she's going to be back, yet," Kasey said, nudging him again with a smile.
Barry nudged her one final time. "Sounds great, I can't wait. Rhyme unintended."
Kasey chuckled and stood, tossing her last bite of scone in her mouth and washing it down with coffee.
"Thanks for the company. I've gotta go to work, but I'll see you later," she said with a smile.
Barry waved her good bye, checking his watch. He still had twenty minutes before his lesson started, might as well study.
Kasey gave him one last smile before heading to the back of the cafe. She clocked in and pulled in a black apron, then stepped outside to help Willow with a smile.
(Skip?)
(sure! to night time?)
(Sounds good! You start or should I?)
(I can, but just two questions: Is Kenzie coming, and also should Caleb come too?)
(I was thinking not, and that's up to you.)
(good idea)
Barry checked the time, snapping his textbook shut. Kasey. Grabbing his deck of cards, he made his way across the hall to her dorm.
Kasey pushed a stray hair behind her ear as she looked in the mirror, chewing on her lip.
Okay, okay. It's fine. You're fine. It's just a game of cards with Barry. Your friend.
Barry faltered at her door, trying to work up the courage to knock. It's a game of cards, you idiot. Eventually, he brought his hand up to her door and knocked.
Kasey walked over to the door and opened it with a smile.
"Hey. Come on in. Kenzie didn't end up coming back today, so unless Caleb came, it's just us," she said.
Barry offered her a grin, though it came out more like a shaky smile. "Caleb had another date. He said to tell you sorry." He stuffed his hands in his pockets to stop himself from fidgeting.
