Byrd bent down, and dug into a raccoon.
Byrd bent down, and dug into a raccoon.
I turned away and hung her head. After Byrd was finished, we began the long journey towards the mountain pass. After a little while, the trees thinned out and stopped completely. A huge field with tall grass filled the space between the group of wolves and the waterfall. “Stay in the tall grass, we don’t want to be seen by predators. Keep your eyes and ears and nose open.”
(Sorry I needed to eat and then my dad needed me to do something)
Lupus pricked his ears for any sounds, walking as quietly as he could. The grass rustled as they passed through it.
Byrd stood protectively close to Lupus, keep her ears pricked.
Various small creatures ran through the grass, and Lupus's ears swiveled towards each sound he heard, looking around in case he saw something suspicious.
A huge shadow covered the field, blocking out the sun. I looked up to see a huge bird, that almost looked like a cloud, heading towards our destination. As I continued to watch and walk, it flew right past the mountains and curved away. “That thing was scary,” I commented “Glad it passed the mountains.”
( hey how do you put a picture on your profile)
"W-what was it?" Lupus watched the bird fly out of sight.
(Idk)
“I honestly don’t know, but something tells me I wouldn’t want to anyway.” I scanned the ground and surrounding grass before leading the group onwards.
Lupus seemed skeptical, but he couldn't get left behind. He didn't know how to get back home on his own. He moved quickly and quietly in the back of the group, keeping his ears pricked and sniffing the air for anything suspicious.

Byrd growled. Stupid monsters.
Other than the giant bird and occasional bug, no other animal confronted the group. Soon it was near dusk. “Do you guys want to continue? We only have two miles left. It’ll only take an hour to get to the waterfall or a safe camping area.”
"Doesn't matter to me." Lupus yawned. "I'm still not entirely sure where we're going, or what we're doing."
“I say we keep going! I don’t know about you guys but, I’m super excited. I’ve never been exploring near the mountain pass!”
Lupus nodded. "I've never been beyond that field. I'm usually not supposed to go far from home, but I've got you guys! So… it's probably okay?"
"I think we should keep on." Byrd announced.
As they continued, fireflies lit up the dark night. It was easy to find an abandoned fox hole with the light of the bugs. They settled in and slept for the night, preparing to go to the waterfall.

Byrd lay down, extremely tired.
Lupus curled up between Byrd and Sofie for warmth, falling asleep quickly.
