"Are you sure you don't want to rest?" Afriel peered up at him, worried.
"Are you sure you don't want to rest?" Afriel peered up at him, worried.
Zackary nodded, his head hanging still. “‘M sure.”
Afriel tilted her head slightly, "did I do something?" Her eyes looked slightly desperate. Desprate to fix anything if something was wrong.
Zackary shook his head miserably. “No. Don’t worry about it, love.”
"No, I have to worry about it. I don't want you being miserable. I want you to trust me with your feelings." Afriel reached out and took his hand in hers.
Zackary yawned slowly. “I’m alright. Just a little tired.” Though he had to admit little was an understatement.
"Then please get some rest. I'm worried about you. After everything that happened, all I am is worried."
Zackary put a hand on her neck. He used it to steady himself. “If I go rest, Eden will blow a fuse.”
"True. But I can deal with her."
(Sorry its so short. And I won't be on at all tomorrow.)
(Oh. Okay.)
Zackary sighed. “Let’s just get to work.”
(Well that was a lie, I got some free time.)
Afriel sighed and nodded her head. "Fine. Just, please if you get any more tired, go and rest."
(Lol. Welcome back.)
Zackary sighed too and shrugged, knowing he wouldn’t do such a thing. “I guess I will.”
"Good." Afriel reached up and gave Zackary a kiss of the cheek before dissapering into the back.
Zackary smiled a little and followed her into the back of the bakery, slowly continuing the slow work of making icing. A few hours passed and he could feel his arms weighing down his shoulders, his feet like rocks on his legs, and his eyes drooping slowly down on his face.
Afriel pulled another tray for what would become sweet bread out of the oven and turned to Zackary. She dusted her hands off and tilted her head at him. "Zackary, go to bed. You're going to collapse and I can't drag you up the stairs."
Zackary shook his head, which felt disconnected and strange. He tilted too little sugar into the batter he was making, for muffins, and started mixing it sleepily.
"Zackary, love. You need sleep. There not much left to do, I can finish this up." Afriel nudged the bowl away from him.
Zackary sleepily shook his head and dragged the bowl slowly back over to himself. “‘M fine…” His voice was soft with pure tiredness.
"Zackary, you're going to collapse." Afriel gave him a small smile and nudged the bowl away again, but this time she made an effort to push him twords the stairs.
Zackary made a faint croon in protest, shaking his head. “I wan help…”
"Mmh, I'm sure you do. But you should really get some sleep. I'll really need your help tomorrow." Afriel cupped his face with her hands.
Zackary rocked back and forth in his spot, holding her hands in his. “There’s stil a lot mor… t’ do…”
"Its not that much. I'll be fine." Afriel gave another nudge for him to go up the stairs. "I'll be there soon."
Zackary gave a low croon of protest again. “I wan fini’ whe you do.”
"Zackary, come on. You need rest." Afriel finished nudging him to the stairs. "Up, go."
Zackary crooned every time he was nudged but let her push him up the steps. He didn’t need to sleep. He needed to work.
"Now, go to sleep. I'll be done in a bit." Afriel gave him a kiss on the cheek before disappearing back down the stairs.
Zackary crooned loudler and plopped down the steps after her. He couldn’t leave her to work by herself.
"Zackary, don't make me shoo you away with a broom." Afriel cocked her head to the side, eyeing the broom.
Zackary shook his head slowly and walked back over to the mix of muffin batter. He needed to continue working!
