"You really like your cheese pizza don't you?" Afriel turned her head to the side and looked up at him, laughing silently.
"You really like your cheese pizza don't you?" Afriel turned her head to the side and looked up at him, laughing silently.
Zackary looked at her. “Mm. I guess I do.”
(Heck, I thought I responded.)
Afriel returned her gaze back to the floor as her forehead rested on the table. "Think Eden would let us off early? Even though we would be stuck baking for a bit. Think she'd let us finish in the morning?"
“Probably not,” Was Zackary’s short answer. He knew she wouldn’t. It’d be another way to snap back at him for leaving, though it wasn’t his fault. He and Afriel just fell out over something stupid, he left, then fell!
"Are you feeling alright, Zackary?" Afriel again looked up at him, worry on her face.
Zackary nodded and glanced at her. “Yeah. ‘M fine.”
"Okay." Afriel sat up straight and stretched before resting her head on his shoulder. "What ever happened to wanting to get the pizza to go?"
“Hmm. Exausted.” Zackary shrugged and continued chewing on the crust of his slice.
"Oh, alright." Afriel sighed and grabbed another slice, even if she wasn't that hungry.
Zackary finished with his crust and started with a fifth and probably final slice. He couldn’t eat too much and feel bloated the next day.
Afriel nudged Zackary slightly, "hey hunary, you almost ready to head back and get our baking on?"
Zackary chewed on the pizza and glanced at her. He paused, then nodded slightly.
Afriel sighed, "what's wrong, Zackary? And don't say you're tired, or anything like that."
Zackary just shrugged and continued nomming on his pizza slice. He was hungry, and he was tired.
"If something is wrong please tell me. I don't the same thing that heppened last time to happen again." Afriel softened her eyes.
Zackary shook his head and said in a tired, somewhat dry voice, “I really am just tired again.”
"Fine." Afriel slid to the wall and leaned on it. "When we go home, go upstairs and rest."
Zackary shook his head. “I’m not leaving you to bake all of that by yourself.”
"I wouldn't mind. Its not that hard, and plus after we close up I'm sure Eden would help me."
Zackary shook his head. He not helping would give Eden another chance at hating him more.
“I’ll help.”
"Are you sure?" Afriel gave a slightly worried look at him.
Zackary nodded. He could barely move his hands to his face, chew or talk, let alone lift, measure and focus. He’d just have to collapse into sleep to show Eden he gave a damn.
Afriel frowned slightly, worried that something was indeed wrong, and that he wouldn't tell her if it was. "Ready to go yet?"
Zackary set down his slice of pizza and nodded. “Ready to go when you are.”
"Alright, shall we then?" Afriel shuffled over to him, nudging him slightly so she could slip out of the booth.
Zackary got out of the booth slowly and stood up, his wings on the dusty floor behind him. He waited for her to get out dully, staring at the ground.
Afriel followed but didn't leave the place yet. "Is, something wrong?"
Zackary glanced up and shook his head a little. “Nope. Just tired.”
"Alright." Afriel sighed and made her way out, and back across the street to the bakery.
Zackary followed her slowly, shuffling his feet. They dragged and he almost tripped on the curb of the sidewalk. He barely caught himself and followed her into the bakery.
