Kace didn’t register what Lucian said, just groaned breathlessly again. He didn’t even seem to realize the man hovering over him, just the stabbing pain in his shoulder. He groaned and shifted against the pressure again.

Lucian gave a sharp huff. The younger man looked bigger than him, which would be a bit of a problem. And judging by the look of his ankle, it was possibly broken. But he needed to get the other back to the hospital to check for internal damage. “Alright, just try to breathe because this is going ot hurt like hell,” he huffed. Carefully, he helped the other up with a grunt, keeping his coat pressed to the others shoulder as he did his best to support the man’s weight.

Kace struggled against Lucian, twitching and writhing in agony. He screamed as the cloth went in and out of his wound, itching against it angrily. He writhed more and more, screaming.

Lucian kept a firm grip on the man, gritting his teeth a bit. “Calm down, I am trying to help you!” He hissed, getting the man to his car after a bit of difficulty. He got the man into the backseat and shut the door before going to the drivers side and getting in. He put his seatbelt on before starting the car and driving back towards the hospital.

Kace blinked open his eyes to see a hazy seat. He slumped down forward with a groan, his head hanging over the leather belt encasing him to the seat. Was he dead yet? If not, was he dying? Ah, the release…

Lucian glanced at the man through the rearview mirror. “Are you conscious now? Sir, I’m a doctor, and I’m taking you to the hospital,” he repeated again.

Kace looked up hazily with a faint groan. Is that the reaper talking? Mmm…. He leaned back in the seat, half-closing his eyes. The pain melted away from his shoulder, no longer was it burning…

Lucian huffed when he didn’t get an answer. He parked his car by the front door of the hospitals, and got out, leaving the man in there for a moment while he jogged inside. After a minute, he came back out with a few others and a stretcher. With the help of a few nurses, they were able to get the man out of the backseat of the car and onto the stretcher. They pushed him into the hospital, where he would be taken to the operation room.

(That sounds good. And yeah I guess that makes sense. Sorry.)

Kace stirred in the bed. He blinked open his eyes, darkness meeting them. There was a heart monitor next to his bed, beeping softly away. An IV drip attatched to his right arm, too. He glanced around, his throat humming. He felt apart from his waking body, which had the occasional ache and spurt of pain. Kace wasn’t quite sure how he got here, or what had happened prior.

After a few minutes of Kace being alone in silence, Lucian stepped into the room. It being dark in the room from the dim lights, he didn’t realize that the other was awake. He turned the brightness up a bit, and went over to a counter. The pain medication would be wearing off soon, so he thought to give the man another dose.

Kace covered his face hazily with his hands, the slight light hurting his eyes. He laid back, otherwise not registering Lucian. He knew the doctor was in the room, he just knew not to talk. Talking rises tempers and causes fights, like the one that landed him in this bed.

Lucian took out a small bottle of clear liquid before he put the needle of a syringe into it. He sucked some up before stepping over to the man. He noticed the other was conscious though. “Ah, you’re awake now.”

Kace glanced up and noticed the syringe an needle. The long, sharp needle… he never wanted to touch one again. He scrambled away from Lucian the best he could, bunching up the sheets at the foot of the bed and scrambling the pillows.

Lucian tensed when he noticed now freaked out the patient seemed to be about the needle. “Calm down, I’m not goingnto stick you. I’m just going to inject it into your IV. It’s antibiotics for the pain,” he said, nudging his glasses up with his free hand.

Kace gave Lucian a look and stayed tensed up. He didn’t trust the doctor at all. He never trusted them. He always fought them, leading to his parent’s anger and frusturation in him, therefore ultimately leading to a day in his damp basement. Seeing the clean, crisp doctor standing before him reminded him of the cool dampness that always tickled his bones.

“My name is Lucian,” He decided to say. “I was the one who found you and brought you here. Do you remember that?” He asked as he took a step closer. He was doing his best to calm the patient, not wanting him to get violent. That had happened before, and he had had a gash on his jaw to show for it. He now had a scar running along his jaw line, but that was one of the only marks like that on his skin.

Kace swallowed and slowly shook his head. “N-no, I don’t remember that.” He took a moment of surprise to realize how hoarse his voice sounded. He didn’t recognize it at first.

Now he speaks, Lucian thought. He turned his head when he heard someone step into the room, and he looked at the young woman, who appeared to be a nurse. “One moment, Anna,” he told the curly haired red head, and she nodded before leaving the room. “I don’t know what happened to you, but you were banged up good. There was a bullet in your shoulder and your ankle is fractured, along with some minor cuts and bruises. You’ve been asleep for a few days.”

Kace glanced over at the nurse, squeezing his hands into fists. “I don’t remember what happened,” He said slowly after the red-head had left.

“That’s what I assumed. There was a police officer who had stopped over to ask if you knew who shot you, but I told him that you were still resting. When you are ready, I can give the staion a call,” Lucian explained in a level tone. “And you didn’t have any identification on you when I found you, either. What’s your name?”

“M-my name’s Kace.” His answer was short, brief, mainly because of all of the information given to him. It was all so overwhelming and it made his head swim painfully.

Lucian reached over and picked up a clipboard, writing that down. “Last name?” He asked, arching a brow ever so slightly. His shoe tapped on the floor as he waited and observed the patient, Kace.

“Eer…Eeriner. My last name’s Eeriner.” He grew aware of the tapping of the doctor’s foot. Was he upset with him? Annoyed? What did he do wrong?

Lucian nodded his head slowly as he wrote down Kace’s last name as well. “I’ll finish asking questions later. The antibiotics will make you a bit drowsy, so I expect that you won’t be able to concentrate well,” he said, clicking the pen closed before setting it and the clipboard aside. “Are you hungry or thirsty? I can have a nurse go get you something if you would like.”
