He looked back at her. Her eyes were so like Will's it hurt. He just barely registered the end of her sentence. "'Kay," he answered quietly.
He looked back at her. Her eyes were so like Will's it hurt. He just barely registered the end of her sentence. "'Kay," he answered quietly.
She beamed and twirled her tail, which hadn't existed until a second ago. "Great! Glad ta help!" She blinked. "Oh, by the wayz, did some new people come here today? I heard a lot of voices up there."
"Yeah." He looked back out across the lake.
"Jeez. I thought demon guys didn't like company." She pouted slightly. "If he's lonely, he could have asked me to come over. I'm a great talker."
"I think there's a difference between a demonic good talk and a human good talker."
"Maybe…." Hiss sighed feelingly. "He's sooo cute and strong and cool, but sometimes, he's such a dummy….." Her words faded into the rambling babble of every air-headed teenage girl, pointless and rather over-dramatic.
Nathan wasn't listening as she ranted endlessly over Crash. Slowly, he took the skins and walked away. Hiss didn't even notice. He headed back up the hill to where everyone was.
Luke saw him coming and waved. "Hey. We were just talking about that Counteracting Theory deal Esme told us about. What do you think about it?"
(although it occurs to me that it must be incredibly late for you….if you're getting tired, just say the word)
(it is technically incredibly early)
He set down the skins and walked over. "It probably sounds much easier than it'll actually be."
"Yeah, I bet you're right. Still, the more I think about it the more it makes sense. Maybe that's why most humans still don't know about magic yet. Whenever they're exposed to it, they just think, 'nope', and it doesn't affect them." He shook his head. "Must be a real pain for magic users."
Nathan nodded. "Yeah, I guess. And she says you should be able to do it easily."
He grinned with a certain amount of pride. "Well, we'll see. I may have actually done it before without realizing it. I know for sure I can't be hypnotized, this one girl tried it on me once and it didn't work at all. Resisting magic's not that hard in theory, but knowing the danger beforehand helps a lot."
"Did Esme say what has Celina?" Nathan asked Luke.
"Nope, just some being more powerful than her. I get the idea that she isn't really sure who it is. Let's hope it's not a friend of Blake's eh?"
"Or anything close to that funky mammoth thing from the other day," Nathan recalled.
"No kidding. You know, not having Crash around to break things for us will be kinda tough."
Crash grunted. "I bet you'll figure it out."
"We're still gonna miss our little gang," Nathan joked.
"Yeah," Luke laughed, elbowing Crash in the ribs. "Admit it, buddy, you'll be lonely without us."
Crash elbowed him back, but offered them a grudging half-smile. "Maybe a little. I kinda like hunting for more people than just one."
"You could hunt for meeeee," Hiss yelled plaintively in the distance.
"NO," Crash hollered back. "You're annoying!"
Luke rolled his eyes. "Anyway, I guess we could stock up on medicinal herbs while we wait. I'm still a bit stiff from our last scuffle with the supernatural."
Nathan laughed at Hiss and Crash and got up. "Sure."
Luke stood as well. "Anything I can help collect? I'm not that familiar with plants, but I bet I can figure it out if you give me a description."
Nathan thought about it. "Yeah, uh, there's this plant that numbs pain, and it's pretty recognisable. Here," he scanned the ground and spotted what he was looking for. He plucked the flower and handed it to Luke. It was smooth, bright blue and had thick, slightly sticky leaves.
Luke examined it. "Okay, that looks easy to find. How much do we want?"
"If we say we're going to get hurt a lot, which I'd say we will, maybe 10 flowers?" Nathan estimated.
"Got it. On my way." He waved at Crash and the girls and hiked off into the woods.
(I gotta go relatively soon by the way, and I may not be back by the time Carys shows up, but probably after)
(ok that's fine)
Nathan waved at group and headed to the shore lake to see if he could find some plants worthy of collecting.
(lmao I no speaking english)
(lol)
Hiss watched you sulkily, but made no attempt at conversation, instead dabbing at the water with one paw and watching the fish swirling just below the surface.
Nathan went about picking the useful plants, rolling up his shirt to carry them like a sort of basket. There was a surprising amount of vegetation along the bank.
At one point you saw Luke across the lake, shielding his face as the green-crested bird swooped at him angrily. He made it to safety in a copse of pines, then spotted you and waved cheerfully and went back to foraging. The bird landed a short distance away and ruffled its feathers indignantly.
(Okay, gotta go, see ya later! ^^)
(k byeee!)
Nathan waved back, watching the bird swooping around angrily. He looked down again, uprooting a dark green plant with pale white thorns.
