@Mr.Misfit

"No, I guess I missed that day at school," He said, smiling in return, "I also forgot the fact that some animals can see in the dark, so hiding in the shadows doesn't work so well."

(Is this before Vaughn left?)

"You got that right!" Avery exclaimed. Her eyes glittered with a playful light, and she suddenly shifted into a deer. Bounding away, she challenged Dylan, "Catch me if you can!"

@Mr.Misfit

Dylan went after her, laughing as he ran, quickly realizing as he lost ground that he couldn't catch her on two human feet. He stopped running and tried to think like a hunter.

He walked off in the direction she had run, vanishing, and taking his time.

Avery heard Dylan as he followed her, but his footsteps soon stopped.

Where did he go? she wondered, looking around. Darn color-blind animals! If I could see color, maybe I could see him.

@Mr.Misfit

As he got within sight range, Dylan slid into slower, more careful steps. He was about to walk right up to her, but he stopped short.

Smell. And hearing.

He held a hand out the air, and felt the breeze moving towards him. Good. The ground was more or less clear, but still covered with grass. He would have to lift his feet high.

All these things in mind led for a slow approach, but so long as Avery didn't move, he would catch her.

He smiled as he closed ground. He hadn't had fun like this since he was a kid!

A soft sound came to Avery's ears. She looked around again, trying to spot the source, but saw nothing. Her nerves tingled– a side effect of becoming an animal that is prey, rather than a predator– and she pranced in place.

@Mr.Misfit

She shuffled nervously, and Dylan paused, waiting for her to settle. When she finally chilled out a bit, he finished his approach, laid a hand on her back and reappeared, "Got ya."

Avery reared, and simultaneously changed back into her human form. Since she was still partway in the air when she changed back, she fell onto her back. She smiled, staring at the sky.

"Okay, okay! You got me," she acquiesced, still laying on the ground.

@Mr.Misfit

Dylan crouched next to her, laughing still, "If you had jumped any higher I probably could have caught you! Need a hand?" He offered.

Avery seemed quite pleasant, much more at ease now than he had ever seen her in the past. Granted, that had only been 2 days, but it was nice to see that she wasn't entirely stressed to death. seeing her smiling now, her eyes trained up at the sky, he almost wanted to join her.

@Mr.Misfit

Dylan shrugged then fell over next to her, trying to catch a glimpse of the turtle cloud. After a while he found it, and chuckled, "Yeah… yeah, it kinda does!"

He fished through the sky a bit more, and pointed, "That one's a brick!"

(Do we wanna say they just do this for a while? Till Vaughn get's back at least?)

After a while of cloud watching with Dylan, Avery heard a car door slam. The door to the cabin slammed not much later.

Vaughn must be back, she thought, sitting up.

With a grin, she poked Dylan in the side. "C'mon, I think Vaughn's back," she told him. A playful light filled her eyes as she got to her feet and said, "First one back to the cabin wins!"

@Mr.Misfit

Dylan snickered in return, finding her playful mood more and more amusing as well as relieving. "What are you, 5?" He teased.

But he followed her anyway.

Avery rolled her eyes and dashed back to the cabin, deciding against using her power to get ahead of Dylan. She could totally beat him if she turned into a cheetah— that would be a new one for her— or a wolf— it was always fun to feel the adrenaline coursing through her veins that she got from being a wolf. She managed to stay ahead of Dylan for a while, but he eventually passed her in the end.

"Wow. You're fast!" Avery said between breaths. She rested her hands on her knees and tried to catch her breath. The race had brought a crimson glow to her cheeks and a new light to her eyes.

@Mr.Misfit

"Yeah, well, thanks for making it fair," He responded, equally out of breath but smiling all the same, "You did really good, too."

Suddenly Dylan felt the urge to hug her. He was truly feeling like himself for the first time in awhile.

"Heya, Avery? Thanks." He said, his voice dropping a little.

@Mr.Misfit

"You did, actually," Dylan replied, "You reminded me that I'm still human. You might laugh, but that's an easy thing to forget. And before you jokingly say I'm not, in essence I am. I always believed I was. But between being a hero without a name, a misfit, and now I'll even dare to call myself a monster, it's easy to forget that I'm only 20 years old, and that I am still capable of having fun."

He put up his hands in mock surrender, "You made it easier to remember. And for that, I have to thank you."

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(Aw! Cute!)

A blush crept up onto Avery's cheeks, this time because she was flustered, not out of breath. Her smile wavered a bit, but she managed to keep it intact.

"Then… You're welcome," she murmured. "And thank you for helping me to let loose a little and have some fun. You know as well as I do– if not better than I do– that these past couple days have been stressful, and that just makes me get ticked off really easily. So… I'm also sorry for being kind of a jerk lately…"
