"Really?" Alton immediately brightened.
(he's an orphan with no siblings in case you didn't get the message)

“Yeah, of course!” She said. “I’d love to skip school with you!”

"Wow…thank…thank you!" He perked. "We could skip tomorrow."

“Sure,” she said. “That’d be cool.”

"We could just stay here until one of us gets hungry," He remarked.

“Okay,” she agreed. She closed her eyes to rest for a moment. “Sounds good.”

Alton sighed, a mixture of wistfulness and happiness.

Maple felt content as she sat there, moving a little bit closer to Alton as she kept her head on his shoulder. It was really nice, and she didn’t want it to end.

Alton didn't want it to end either, smiling to himself as Maple shifted closer.

After several minutes, Maple’s stomach growled. She didn’t say anything because she didn’t want to leave, but she was getting hungry.

Alton turned to her, hearing her stomach. "Come on, let's get some food." He shifted.

She reluctantly sat up again, moving her head from his shoulder. “Okay,” she agreed.

He transformed into a mouse again and scurried through the crack in the wall again.

She copied him, turning into a squirrel, and hurrying behind him.

"Where to for some eats?" Alton squeaked, hurrying down the sewers again.

Harley facepalmed “I’m so stupid.”

Sam Looked at the ground "Yep" she teased.

She mock glared “so nice.” Then she laughed “let’s go!”

"Where to for some eats?" Alton squeaked, hurrying down the sewers again.

“I dunno, but I think there’s a restaurant not far from here,” Maple replied, following him.

“You can lead the way, then.” Alton hung back.

“Okay.” She took the lead, going at a fairly quick pace and glancing behind her every now and then to check that Alton was still there. Once they were close, she said to Alton, “Let’s just walk as humans the rest of the way.” Then she transformed into a human again.

“Alright.” Alton transformed back into a human, righting himself.

Maple smiled at him, taking his hand to lead him the rest of the way.

Alton smiled to himself at Maple’s touch, letting her lead him.

They walked about a block or two before Maple stopped in front of a restaurant. “Here we are,” she exclaimed. “Ta-da!”

“Nice.” Alton smiled at the place.

She opened the door and walked into the restaurant. It was a cute little sandwich shop that Maple loved. Their veggie sandwiches were great. She turned to Alton. “Do you know what you want?” She asked.

//btw Maple is vegetarian bc she’s a squirrel so yeah haha

Alton shrugged, he’d never been here before. “Surprise me.” He smiled, the smile looking rather out of place on his normally distraught face.

"Okay," she said with a grin. She turned to the girl at the counter. "We'll get two veggie clubs." She turned back to Alton. "Their veggie clubs are the, like, the best things ever."

“Alright.” Alton inclined his head, smiling.

"Oh wait, I almost forgot to order drinks!" she added, before turning back to the lady. "We'll also have a water and…" She paused, turning to Alton so he could order a drink.

“Sprite.” Alton shrugged, smiling.
