Pax shook his head. “No, I can do it.”
Pax shook his head. “No, I can do it.”
"Is it M?" She asked quietly.
Pax looked up a little. “What are you talking about?”
"He always looks tired and he's getting older and here you are without him on the verge of tears refusing help."
Pax swallowed deeply and nodded. “So it is M!” He exclaimed thickly, blinking away tears.
"I'm sorry Pax.."
Pax turned his back on her and rubbed his eyes. M would be fine.
North walked over to him and hugged him briefly. "He'll be fine."
Pax sniffled and straightened up again. “I know he will be.”
"Good. Don't worry over it." She pulled away and squeezed his shoulder gently before walking away.
Pax rubbed his face again. He couldn't help worrying, though…
North sighed and went back upstairs to find Tyler and Lila standing out the window. "Hey, watcha doing?" She asked, laying her hand on Tyler's shoulder. "Trees!" Lila shouted, pointing out the window.
It was chilly and cold. The trees were leafless but their waving, bare branches clacked together to make a strange type of music.
"Yeah those are trees. Do you want to go see them?" North asked, kneeling down next to Lila. "No. Burrr." She replied, shaking her head.
A strong whistle of wind clattered the trees together and shook the frames of the windows. It was very cold.
"Brbrbrbr." Lila muttered, walking away from the window, out the door, and down the hallway, North following close behind her. "Where are you going?" She asked. "M!" Lila yelled happily, wobbling slightly as she walked.
M curled up slowly. The warmth of the sheets warmed up his cold bones. Maybe he should screw over his schedule and pop it back to summer, where he can actually enjoy himself.
"Lila he's probably sleeping." She said, following after Lila. "But I want to see him!" Lila cried out, turning to face her. "Maybe later when he's awake." North said, smiling down at her. "No! Now! M!" She yelled again, walking towards his room.
M shifted with a faint grunt of pain. One of his joints popped in his arm and sent a scarlet pain up his arm.
oof he so old.
Lila ran to his door and knocked quietly, smiling up at North who rolled her eyes a little but smiled anyway.
M burrowed deeper into the sheets, not hearing the gentle knock. He shut his eyes a little.
Lila looked sadly up at North. “I told you Lila. He’s probably sleeping.” She replied, leaning against the wall. Lila whimpered and reached up for the door handle, not quite tall enough.
M heard faint voices but brushed them off. He’d lost his edge a couple years back. It was probably his faint traces of magic acting up again.
Lila growled frustratedly and jumped up a little, grabbing onto the door handle, her feet dangling off the ground. She giggled and twisted around, trying to open the door.
I love how North is like ¯_(ツ)_/¯
She’s admiring her child’s abilities to open doors.
By hanging off of the knob. Brilliant. Continue.
She’s like two years old what else do you do
The door clicked open and Lila laughed with delight. “Oh I didn’t think that would actually work.” North said, walking forward and reaching down to pick her up. Lila shook her head and let go of the door, running towards the bed.
M tensed into the bed and slowly rose his head from the bed. “Mmmmm… what?”
“Sorry M.” North muttered, following after Lila who ran into the side of the bed in excitement. “Oof.” Lila giggled, reaching up the side of the bed.
