Liam nodded his head, “Will do.” He hummed quietly as he prepared the meat and headed over to the pan shortly after.
Liam nodded his head, “Will do.” He hummed quietly as he prepared the meat and headed over to the pan shortly after.
Kasey crossed her arms and laid them on the table, resting her head on them with a sigh. She blinked a few times, her eyelids growing heavy.
Liam looked over his shoulder and smiled softly at Kasey, continuing to hum quietly as the faint sizzle of the oil in the pan sounded. He let out a small sigh through his nose.
Kasey managed to watch him a while longer before she nodded off to sleep. She was still exhausted from her leg getting worked on, so it wasn't hard to fall sleep.
Liam finished making the burgers shortly after Kasey fell asleep. He placed them on a few plates, on for Harper too, “Hey Harper, there’s a burger here if you want it.”
"Thanks, man," Harper said as he made his way over. He looked down at Kasey and smiled softly. "She must've been exhausted. She never falls asleep in the middle of the day."
“Ah, yeah. That’s one thing we don’t have in common then. I can nap whenever.” Liam chuckled softly and took a bite of his burger.
"Lucky you," Harper chuckled as he sat beside his sister. "I wish I could do that."
“It’s a talent. One I’ve only found I had in… recent years.” Liam sighed and little and shook his head slightly.
Harper nodded slowly, taking a bite of his burger. "You want to talk about it?"
Liam sighed a little, “It’s nothing really… just thinking about family stuff…”
"Ah, I think I understand, then. Feel free to come over here and rant if you ever need to," Harper offered, continuing to eat his burger.
Kasey made a soft sound in her sleep and stirred a bit. Harper glanced down at her and smiled a little, reaching over to brush some hair out of her face.
Liam looked down at Kasey with a tiny smile, “I don’t actually have anything to rant about. It’s just… never mind.”
"It's okay, man. You don't have to talk about it," Harper assured him with a shrug, taking another bite of his burger.
Kasey stirred again and frowned in her sleep. She let out a light sigh, trying to bury her face in her arms.
Liam nodded and took a bite of his burger, “Yeah, okay. Thanks,” He shook his head a little and looked down at Kasey, “Should we move her to her bed?”
"Probably. She–" Harper was cut off by Kasey looking up at the two and giving them both a look.
"You're both loud. And I'm tired and hungry," she sighed, picking up her burger even though she was still half-asleep. "Thanks, Liam."
“No problem Kasey.” Liam said with a chuckle as he finished off his own burger.
Kasey sighed before sleepily biting into her burger. She chewed slowly, obviously still half-sleeping.
Harper chuckled and shook his head, picking up his plate after he finished. "Can I take your plate, Liam?"
“Oh yeah, sure. Thanks, Harper. I can clean up if you want me too, it’s no trouble.” Liam offered, rubbing at his neck.
"Nah, I've got it," Harper assured him with a shrug. He bent down as he picked up Liam's plate to speak in his ear, "Keep her company. Make her laugh or something; she needs it."
Liam nodded at Harper before sitting down next to Kasey, “How are you feeling?” He asked, biting his lip a little.
Kasey glanced over at Liam with a soft smile. "I'm really just tired and hungry. I can't really feel any pain in my leg right now, but I'm sure it's just the pain meds. I'll bet that I'll be able to feel it tomorrow."
Liam nodded slowly and returned the smile, “Okay, Do you want me to stay here tonight? I’m sure Mortem will be alright without me for a while, blasted cat… taking all my time away from you.”
Kasey chuckled and set her burger down for a moment. "If you want to stay, I won't stop you. But you could bring Mortem over and we could see how well our cats get along."
“Mortem will probably bully Quake the old bastard but sure, why not. I’ll get him soon.” Liam said, chuckling.
"Sounds good," Kasey said with a smile, a hint of laughter in her voice. "Now, can I eat my burger? It's hard to do that with you asking me a million questions and making me laugh."
Liam grinned at her, "Yes yes, I'll go get my stupid cat then." He pressed a kiss to her head before sliding off the chair.
"I'll leave the door unlocked for you. Just come right in when you're back," Kasey said, giving him a smile as she picked her burger back up.
"Righty-o." Liam called before leaving the apartment. He unlocked his door and found Mortem already there. He sighed a little and decided to feed him before going back to Kasey's.
Kasey had just a couple of bites left of her burger when Quake trotted over and wound herself around Kasey's legs. She chuckled and tore off a small piece of burger and fed it to the cat.
