"Maybe I've just been unlucky. I haven't seen anyone since…" Nadia bit her lip, deciding not to share any more. "Well, Cat, I've stopped the car. Do what you want to do, but hurry."
"Maybe I've just been unlucky. I haven't seen anyone since…" Nadia bit her lip, deciding not to share any more. "Well, Cat, I've stopped the car. Do what you want to do, but hurry."
After finishing her shopping, Quinn pushed her cart on the way to her hideout while listening to music. However, her eyes scanned every building she came across, on the lookout for any people even though she knew she was the only one.
"Erm, yes well the thing is, I really need that bag. And I'm getting it back no matter what. Which I'm terribly sorry about because you obviously crave human company so you can either come with me, or I'm walking." She sighed and unbuckled her seatbelt. "Though I do understand if you don't want to come with, gas is probably not easy to come by."
Nadia paused for a moment, weighing her options. "I'll go with you, but I won't bring the car. Just let me grab a few things." She took her small pistol and a bag of random supplies before exiting the car. She took her keys and waited for Cat to leave before locking it.
"Alright then. Do you know the way?" she asked, following the girl. "And I don't know your name, by the way."
"It's Nadia. We haven't been driving for too long. I found you on the ground somewhere that way." She replied, pointing down the road. "It was a straight road, no turns or anything. It should be easy to find your bag."
"Okay good. Once we find the general direction of where I was I'm sure I can find my bag." They walked in silence for a moment before she said, "Thank you for stopping for me and going with me. And for taking me." She stopped paused. "What happened to me anyways? Did you happen to see?"
Nadia shrugged. "I heard a loud thump, but I stayed in my car for a while because I thought it was an animal. After a few minutes I decided to see what it was and found you lying on the ground passed out." She explained. "I was kind of shocked to see another living person."
"How long has it been since you've seen someone else?" she asked. 'Probably fell out of the tree somehow and hit my head,' she thought, her mind going a mile a minute.
"Eight months, just about. Well, I've seen plenty of people since then but they've all been dead." Nadia muttered the last part quietly.
"Wow," Cat breathed, her eyes wide. "That's a while." She stepped on a rock that slipped and caused her to go sprawling, her hip hitting the ground. She winced but got up quickly. "Whoops. I'm fine." She looked at Nadia carefully. "That's a long time to go without human interaction, you know. Or alive human interaction."
She nodded, looking back and forth for any signs of Cat's bag. As much as she hated to admit it, Nadia was a little freaked out being so exposed. That's why she loved her car so much. It was a place to stay that had everything she needed. "Let's just hurry up."
"Alright." She walked up to the trees and snuck quietly through them, looking for the marker she had made in the trees. She saw one and kept walking then stopped when she saw a large tree branch with lots of leaves on it. She circled around it and found an imprint of a body in the leaves. She bent down and shuffled through the leaves, where she found her bag. She brushed it off and quickly looked through it, making sure nothing was misplaced or stolen. She breathed a sigh of relief and stood up, turning to face Nadia who was looking nervous. "Got it, let's go."
Nadia hurriedly left as soon as Cat got her bag, wanting to return to the safety of her car as soon as possible. "What's in your bag anyway? Why is it so important?"
(hey if anyone else is on their character can find Nadia's car so we can all meet up)
“Medical supplies and tools,” she said, falling into step beside Nadia’s quick strides. “When things got really bad I raided the first hospital I could find. At the point we’re at the contents of my bag are priceless. What’s even more priceless is that I actually know how to use them.”
"Well, it's good to have someone with me that knows stuff like that. I've just been lucky enough to not get hurt that badly, because if I did I wouldn't know how to fix whatever injury I had." Nadia said. "It's good to have someone with me in general. I really thought I was the last one."
"Well, now you're not," Cat said smiling at her. "So, where are you from?"
"Stafford Connecticut." She replied, keeping up her quick pace. "What about you?" Nadia had noticed the girl's accent as soon as she had spoken, but she wasn't sure if Cat had been born in England or if she was just raised there.
“Well England, obviously. But I was born here. My mum was American. She died in childbirth and so my father took me back to England and raised me there. But for the past few years I’ve been staying here, with my grandparents.” She looked up at the sky, watching some birds pass. “So technically I’m from both here and England,” she said.
Nadia just nodded, not sure how she should react to that. "I've never even been out of the country." She said after a few seconds of silence.
“I’ve gone to quite a few countries but that’s only because Europe is so condensed. How far till your car?” she asked.
She looked around to see where they were, then responded. "It shouldn't be too much longer." A few seconds after she spoke, Nadia spotted the car up ahead. A wave of relief washed over her when she saw that the car looked exactly the same. None of the windows were broken and all the doors were closed. All of her stuff was safe.
Nadia hurriedly left as soon as Cat got her bag, wanting to return to the safety of her car as soon as possible. "What's in your bag anyway? Why is it so important?"

(Sorry I was at a rehearsal…)
Quinn turned off her music and took out the bags out of her cart before shoving it away, letting it roll down the street. The sound of it echoed on the silent air as Quinn hauled the bags to a house and opened the doors of its storm cellar before closing it behind her. It wasn't much of a base, but it was all she had left.
Valerie was walking through the woods. She was out looking for supplies and maybe trying to get away from a bear that had found her. Maybe not? She wasn't quite sure yet but vacating the vicinity was a safe bet. As she walked she spotted a car, maybe it had some supplies in it. Valerie crept closer to see other living people near. Wait living! Wasn'tshe the last one left?! If she wasn't hallucinating, which heh might have been happening recently (at least to her knowledge), then there were actual people there.
Cat looked past the car and saw a girl creeping through the woods. Nadia was still looking in her car, checking that her things were all there. "Nadia," she said quietly. "Don't get up and don't do anything but there's a girl in the woods and she's watching us."
Nadia completely ignored the first part of Cat's statement and jerked her head up and began looking around. "Girl? There's someone else? Where?"
"Oh my god," Cat said under her breath. "There in the trees. But I told you not to look for a reason." She looked her in the eye. "What if she came to steal your stuff. What if she has a gun? You better hope not or we'll both be dead very soon," she said, crossing her arms.
"She won't kill us." Nadia muttered, still searching the trees for the girl Cat was talking about. "There's a limited amount of us on Earth. If she kills us, she lowers her chance of survival."
Valerie had realized they had spotted her. She ran through numerous plans before walking out with her hands up, "I come in peace!"
Nadia nudged Cat. "I told you she wouldn't hurt us." Man, today was full of surprises. She had thought she was the only person left on Earth, but then suddenly met two people in the span of what felt like ten minutes. Nadia smiled at the girl, trying to show that she was friendly. "Don't worry, we won't hurt you. At least, I won't. My name is Nadia, nice to meet you."
