"True true," He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "When's the doctor getting here again?"
"True true," He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, "When's the doctor getting here again?"
"Should be…" Harper checked his watch. "About five minutes. I just hope that either Kasey sleeps through this whole thing, or Madi brings something to make her sleep through it."
"Hopefully. I just want Kasey to get better already," He sighed a little, "We were supposed to go out on a date the other day. Looks like that's not going to happen for a while."
Harper blinked and nodded slowly.
"Maybe you guys could go to the spa together," he joked with a smirk.
Liam shook his head with a smile, “Maybe not. I don’t think her personal bounderies go that far.”
"As long as you're fully clothed, she might enjoy it," Harper said with a shrug.
“Still, I don’t think it’s a good idea for me to go, if she goes.” Liam sighed a little.
"Why not?" Harper asked curiously, leaning against the counter.
Liam sighed, “After what happened last time when I pushed her boundaries… I don’t want to accidentlly overstep again. Maybe I, being too cautious but I don’t want to hurt her again.”
Harper nodded slowly, looking off in thought.
"Well… You could always ask her," he suggested with a shrug.
"Maybe, but I don't want her to feel pressured into bringing me." Liam replied with a small sigh.
"If you don't pressure her, she won't feel pressured," Harper pointed out. He chuckled a bit, then added, "Unless you're just trying to get out of going to the spa."
"What? No, 'course not…" Liam let out a small nervous laugh and then swallowed.
"I was teasing you about the while spa thing, anyway," Harper said, shaking his head with a smile.
"Hm, yeah…" Liam tapped his fingers on the countertop to some random tune, "How long until Madi gets here?"
"She should be here any minute, now–"
As soon as the words had left Harper's mouth, there was a knock on the door. Pushing himself off the counter, he hurried over to the door and swung it open.
"Thank goodness you're finally here," he sighed, grabbing her hand and pulling her inside. He shut the door and tugged her towards Kasey's room, but she dig her heels into the floor.
"Woah woah woah. Back it up. One: Hey, how's it going? I missed you. Two: Who's this?" the young doctor asked, gesturing to Liam.
“Hiya, I’m Liam… Kasey’s boyfriend.” He gave the Doctor a small smile and ran a hand through his hair.
Doctor Willows smiled at Liam.
"It's nice to meet you, though I wish it were under better circumstances. I'm Doctor Madeline Willows, but you can just call me Madi," she introduced herself, stepping around Harper to stick her hand out.
Liam shook her hand, “Nice to meet you, too. Thank-you for coming at such short notice.”
"I'm always available to help the Taylors," Madeline said with a smile. Harper cleared his throat behind her, and she rolled her eyes as she turned around. "I know, I know. I'm coming."
Liam sighed and followed them into Kasey’s room. He stood by the door, careful not to get in the way.
Madeline pulled a chair over to the bed, sitting near Kasey's leg. She carefully rolled up her pants leg to examine the wound, chewing on her lip as she looked at it.
It had originally been pretty small on the outside, but the bullet had gone deep into her calf. Kasey had thought it had fallen out during the fight, so she hadn't tried to take it out. Unfortunately, it was still there.
The skin around it was red and swollen, hot to the touch. And gold streaks wound through her leg, tracing her veins. It was a wonder Kasey had even been walking on it, as it must have been in credibly painful. In fact, the heroine quietly moaned in her sleep and tried to pull away when Dr. Willows touched it.
"This is indeed poison," she said softly as she looked at it. "But it's one that I rarely encounter."
Liam cursed under his breath, “But you know what is it, you can heal her right?” He pushed off the wall a little.
"…Yes," Madi said, standing from her chair.
"You hesitated. Why?" Harper asked, crossing his arms over his chest as he took a step closer to her.
Madeline held up a hand to stop him from coming closer, which he did. "We'll have to take her to my lab. I didn't bring the right equipment with me."
“How far away is the lab?” Liam asked, taking a cautious glance at Kasey.
Madeline tilted her head one way and the other a few times as she thought.
"About an hour," she sighed. "But she'll make it. She's not in critical condition, yet."
“The key word was yet there…” Liam muttered, “Let’s get going then.”
Madeline let out a soft breath and looked down at Kasey. She placed s gentle hand on her shoulder and shook her a bit.
"Kasey, hun, I need you to wake up," she said softly.
Kaswy stirred and blinked her eyes open. She peered at Madeline sleepily, giving her a small smile when she realized who she was.
"Hey, Madi," she greeted her groggily. "What's goin' on?"
"We're going to take you to my lab," the doctor said softly. She glanced at the guys and bit her lip for a moment. "One of you is going to need to carry her. She shouldn't walk on that leg."
“I’ll do it. If that fine with you of course, Kasey?” Liam said gently, walking so he was tanking at the side of the bed.
"Yeah, of– of course," Kasey said, nodding as she bit her lip.
